Chapter 1291: Chapter 1291: Had Choices Before, Now There’s No Other Option!
Bones shrinking, muscles adjusting, Carson Flores transformed before his very eyes into an unfamiliar middle-aged man.
Carson Flores looked at himself in the mirror, nodded satisfactorily, then silently operated his mental method. His aura quickly retracted, and in an instant, his temperament became ordinary and unremarkable, just like any other Cultivator that could be found anywhere in the Barbarian Wilderness Realm.
Utterly unremarkable.
Considering that Mystical Immortal Island has started abducting young Cultivators with exceptional talents, Carson Flores took some precautions to conceal his identity.
He doesn’t want to be recognized, nor does he want to attract too much attention.
His only aim is to enter, find the person, attempt a rescue, and then flee Mystical Immortal Island.
As for memory loss?
Carson Flores could no longer be concerned with that.
Before, Carson Flores had a choice, but now, he does not.
As long as the person is safe, if memory loss is inevitable, then let it happen.
At least, his life memories are "backed up" with Delaney Hunter and Samantha Tate, ensuring that even if he loses his memory, he won’t be completely forgotten and lost in a deadlock of "who am I?"
Moreover, with powerful beings like Delarosa and Cristopher Hopkins Immortal around, even if he were to encounter misfortune, it might still be possible for him to return to normal.
Carson Flores leapt into the air, approaching Mystical Immortal Island.
Soon, Mystical Immortal Island was in sight, its Barrier blocking Carson Flores’s path.
The Barrier emitted a soft white light, giving a sense of tranquility and peaceful quietude, as if the years were standing still.
White mist twined around the Barrier, obscuring the view of the island’s scenery.
Carson Flores approached the Barrier, then was stopped by a gentle force preventing any further closeness, let alone entry.
Having made his decision, Carson Flores hesitated no longer and took out the Mystical Immortal Token, extending it towards the Barrier.
The previously silent Mystical Immortal Token suddenly lit up with a pure white glow, transforming into beams of white light, reaching beyond the Barrier. However, Carson Flores could no longer see what lay beyond.
After a few seconds, the white light on the Mystical Immortal Token suddenly surged, enveloping Carson Flores entirely. Simultaneously, he felt a not-too-strong pulling force.
Carson Flores’s body was drawn towards the Barrier. The previously untouchable Barrier now seemed to turn insubstantial, allowing him to crash into it and pass through.
A world of clarity opened before Carson Flores’s eyes.
He floated in mid-air, overlooking the ground beneath him.
Before him stood a majestic mountain, not exceedingly tall, but imposing nonetheless. Below the mountain lay a series of contiguous houses, mostly wooden, resembling a village hidden within the grandeur of the mountains.
The outside of the village was a field of various flowers competing in full bloom, dazzling like a sea of flowers.
Beyond the flowers, there were peach groves, peach blossoms brimming with life in every bloom.
The air was incredibly fresh. Carson Flores took a few breaths and then snapped back to reality, his eyes wide with surprise.
Immortal Spirit Qi!
This world was actually filled with thick Immortal Spirit Qi!
Immortal Qi drifting, white mist curling, flowers everywhere; like a paradise, serene and peaceful.
All this seemed to speak to the extraordinariness of this place – could there really be an Immortal here?
If it is an Immortal, why would they not dwell in the Immortal Realm, but hide in this Barbarian Wilderness?
If it is an Immortal, why, after chasing Immortal traces for ten thousand years in the Barbarian Wilderness, has no one seen this land’s Immortal?
As Carson Flores pondered these questions, a constraining force once again made its presence felt.
Carson Flores looked down to see the light from the Mystical Immortal Token stretching out like tangible strings to an ancient Stele in the village.
Wrapped in the light of the Mystical Immortal Token, he was drawn towards that ancient Stele, rapidly flying towards it.
Behind Carson Flores, the Barrier, which had momentarily rippled like water, had now returned to its original state.
Carson Flores swiftly descended from the sky, landing in front of the Stele.
The ancient Stele was inscribed with two stylized characters; they flowed elegantly with a sense of Immortal charm.
Forget Worry.
Carson Flores scanned the entire village, his look one of confusion; where were the people?
The houses here didn’t look old or abandoned; they should be inhabited.
More importantly, where was Shirley Miller!
Carson Flores knew he couldn’t expect to see her the instant he arrived, yet everything about this place – its harmony and tranquility, whispered a foreboding sense of deathly stillness, a queer uncanniness.
"Squeak!"
The wooden gate of a small courtyard nearby opened, and an elder in hemp garments with an air of a transcendent sage appeared at the entrance, smiling at Carson Flores.
"It’s been a long while since we had visitors in Forget Worry Village."
Carson Flores turned, bowing respectfully, "Senior, I am new here and apologize for any disturbance caused."
With a casual wave, the elder captured the Mystical Immortal Token as its light began to dim, landing in his hand. He smiled and said, "We are very quiet here usually, with few visitors. It’s less lively because of that, so we couldn’t be happier to have a guest. There’s no offense taken."
Carson Flores observed his surroundings, cautiously probing, "This island really is quiet. Does no one live here?"
The elder smiled faintly, "Of course, people live here, although not many. Come, follow me."
