Chapter 1229: Chapter 1229: The Undying Obsession

One hundred miles west of Saint Hemming City, there stood a mountain, towering like a ten-thousand-meter-tall Giant Sword, piercing through the clouds.

Under the ancient pine, there was a small tea table with a few dishes placed on it, next to it stood a pot of wine and two cups.

Carson Flores sat in a chair, waiting quietly.

Stella Rios and Heath Wells stood behind him like left and right Guardians, silent and statuesque.

Originally, Carson Flores was hesitant about whether to meet the Demon Emperor in person, but now that he had two Demi Immortal servants, safety was assured, and he no longer hesitated.

He had Stella Rios grab a shape-shifted member of the Demon Race with decent strength from Saint Hemming City, gave him a Jade Slip, and had him deliver it to the Demon Emperor’s Palace, to hand it to the Demon Emperor in person.

Carson Flores invited the Demon Emperor for a drink.

Three figures appeared in the distance, with the Demon Emperor Westin Flores in the lead, accompanied by two elders.

The Demon Emperor spotted Carson Flores sitting beneath the ancient pine on the mountain platform and his eyes immediately lit up with surprise, which quickly turned cold.

The Demon Emperor sat down opposite Carson Flores, his gaze sweeping over Stella Rios and Heath Wells. When he saw the scales on Heath Wells’s forehead, his eyebrows furrowed.

The Demon Race serving as guards for Carson Flores?

Carson Flores looked into the eyes of the man in front of him and after a long moment, he sighed, "You are the Demon Emperor, not Westin Flores."

The Demon Emperor, sitting across from Carson Flores, smiled and said, "If you like, you can also call me father, and I would agree to it."

Carson Flores chuckled, "The brilliant and dazzling His Majesty the Demon Emperor, you too like to take advantage of verbal cheap shots?"

The Demon Emperor replied, "Your father and I, two wills have merged, we are essentially the same person."

Carson Flores sighed, "Yes, merged, like a river joining a great stream; the river still exists, but to everyone else, it’s the stream they see, not the river."

The Demon Emperor laughed, "Your metaphor is quite apt, simple and understandable, and the actual situation is roughly the same. Your father’s memories are still there, but I am the dominant one now; his emotions matter little."

Carson Flores frowned and said, "In other words, to some extent, he has already died, right?"

The Demon Emperor replied, "Yes. However, if I wish, he can actually come out and have a heart-to-heart father-son moment with you."

Carson Flores frowned, "If you’ve truly merged completely, where does this ’he’ come from? Could it be that you haven’t completely merged?"

The Demon Emperor scoffed, "Memories and emotions have already been shared and deeply fused, yet he doesn’t want to merge completely, locking away one obsession. I cannot assimilate this obsession, and since we have merged, I cannot completely kill him either, so I have imprisoned this obsession in the deepest part of my mind, never to come out unless I allow it."

Obsession!

Carson Flores understood immediately; perhaps during the fusion process, his father realized he was more like a river being consumed and swallowed by the merge. After merging, even if memories and emotions remained, they would be dominated by the will of the Demon Emperor. He would completely lose his self, his control, fade away; therefore he resisted.

He sealed away an obsession, and this obsession must represent the indomitable spirit of his father. He didn’t want to be fully merged, controlled, and disappear. He wanted to be himself, even if all that was left was one last stubborn obsession.

This obsession, no matter how faint, was pure.

A pure husband.

A pure father.

No thoughts of dominating the world, subjugating all living beings, just the simple wish to live a warm life with his family.

Carson Flores smiled, "So if I kill you and release that obsession, wouldn’t that solve everything?"

The Demon Emperor replied calmly, "It is a solution, although I don’t know if it would ultimately work. And there’s a condition: you would have to be able to kill me."

Carson Flores furrowed his brow, deep in thought.

Should he ask Cristopher Hopkins or Delarosa for help, to capture him and take him away?

Could sealing his power suppress his dominant will?

Having thought this, Carson Flores eventually dismissed the idea.

Even if he captured the Demon Emperor, Carson Flores wouldn’t dare put him near his mother, lest his mother become a hostage used by the Emperor to control him.

Until the Demon Emperor’s Will was fully resolved, it was best to keep him away from family and friends. Who knew what he might do?

Therefore, there was no need to rush to take action against him, not until after sorting out the matter with Cristopher Hopkins.

For now, the priority was to address the threat of the war he was planning.

After clarifying his thoughts, Carson Flores felt much lighter.

This encounter brought disappointment, but also surprises.

Once his power was strong enough, he might be able to bring back his father’s will, for it always existed, never dead or merged.

If possible, seeking the help of Cristopher Hopkins Immortal in the future might be an option.

With this in mind, Carson Flores no longer dwelled on the fusion of the Demon Emperor and his father’s will and changed the topic, "I invited you here for two reasons: first, to see your condition, and second, to ask you to end the Thousand City Plan and the war. What do you think?"

The Demon Emperor stared at Carson Flores and sneered, "Why should I terminate it?"

Gazing back into his eyes, Carson Flores asked directly, "What is your ultimate purpose in starting this war? To eliminate the Human Race’s fighting force and completely reduce humans to slaves of the Demon Race?"
