Chapter 1209: Chapter 1209: Fearless If You Run Fast Enough

The correct use of a slave?

Well, indeed it is so!

If the goal is to gather Ghost Lingzhi, and if there are guardian beasts involved, then it becomes necessary to lure away the giant beast. Each of these beasts is incomparably powerful, and luring one away entails taking huge risks; this sort of task is most fitting for human slaves to undertake.

As long as one can pick the Ghost Lingzhi, if a human slave dies, so be it.

Even if one Lingzhi costs the life of a human slave, it’s still not a loss!

"You hide first; once it runs far away, you come out!"

"Okay!"

Lilianna Norman had an Overlapping Death Seal on her, and she stealthily lay in wait, blending in like a stone.

Carson Flores flew out boldly; as soon as he left the forest, he caught the eye of the Giant Mantis. Its dark green eyes fixated on Carson, swirling with a cold murderous intent.

It had never encountered such a form of prey before, but that didn’t matter.

Alive, and edible!

Its powerful limbs suddenly activated, the ground caved in on all sides, and its forty-meter-tall body shot up abruptly, lunging towards Carson. Its forelimbs, like the sickles of the grim reaper, swung down at Carson with lightning speed.

Carson took a step, his figure instantly flashing away for a hundred or two meters. With a wave of his hand, a rock about a meter in diameter flew up from the ground and smashed down on the mantis.

The rock struck the mantis but, like a meteorite, failed to leave any damage on its body.

Truly an ancient exotic species!

Its defensive capabilities were off the charts!

Carson wasn’t really trying to hit it with the rock; it was more a taunt. As expected, the mantis, struck by the rock, became furious. A faint hint of red began to appear in its dark green eyes. It took flight with a flutter of its wings, chasing after Carson.

Carson turned and fled, the mantis pursuing rapidly.

Carson didn’t use the Ground Shrinking Technique, just flying forward at high speed, leading the mantis on a chase as both quickly disappeared into the distance.

Lilianna Norman emerged from the jungle and hurried towards the area of black mist. She smoothly found a Ghost Lingzhi in the center of the mist.

Lilianna quickly picked it, placing it into a Spiritual Medicine Box. As the Ghost Lingzhi was harvested, the surrounding black mist seemed to lose its hold, turning into rootless duckweed. A mountain breeze blew by and the mist began to slowly disperse.

Lilianna didn’t dare stay long. It’s not that they couldn’t defeat this mantis, but such a fight held no meaning.

Why choose confrontation when you can outsmart the enemy?

As soon as Lilianna left, the mantis returned.

Its intelligence was limited, but it knew when it couldn’t catch up, it was better to return and guard its Ghost Lingzhi. However, it immediately noticed the dissipating black mist.

Its massive body launched itself and landed straight at the growth spot of the Ghost Lingzhi. After peering at it for some moments, it let out an angry hiss.

"Boom boom boom!"

The forest suffered disaster in an instant; numerous large trees were split apart, and even the cliffs behind were furiously smashed down. For a time, the noise was so loud it could be heard from a great distance.

"Hehe, this fellow’s gone mad."

Carson and Lilianna Norman had already met up. Hearing the distant booming, both smiled at each other. After all, their cooperation this time was far too easy.

The two continued onward, and after some effort, they found another Lingzhi, still guarded by a giant beast, a Giant Python.

It was still Carson who lured the enemy, and Lilianna who did the picking; their seamless cooperation easily succeeded.

After meeting up, Lilianna tossed a Spiritual Medicine Box to Carson for inspection: "The first one is about twelve hundred years old, this one, a thousand years. Their value is pretty close, one each, but I have to give it to you after we exit. After we’re out, we’ll tally our gains. The one who ranks first will receive a reward..."

"Sure, no rush."

While Carson urgently needed all kinds of Heavenly Materials and Earthly Treasures that could enhance his power, what he desired most now was the Bodhi Blood.

Reviving Cristopher Hopkins was his top priority!

The immense gap between humans and Immortals meant that only an Immortal could stand against an Immortal!

To handle Maggie Fitzgerald’s upcoming attacks, only by reviving Cristopher Hopkins there might be a chance to withstand them.

Carson asked, "I see that people from other Sects team up in groups of ten or twenty; beating them won’t be easy..."

Lilianna responded, "It’d be good to achieve first place, but it doesn’t matter if we don’t win. As long as we collect enough Ghost Lingzhi, when we exchange them with the victors later, I believe there will be no problem."

"Alright, let’s continue."

The two continued toward the central region. As dusk approached, they once again discovered black mist.

This time the black mist was even denser and more extensive than the previous two instances!

They flew over to a mountain peak.

The source of the black mist was a massive cave beneath the cliff. The black fog drifted out of the cavern, concentrated and lingering, forming a column of fog in the sky like a black smokestack.

"Such a huge cave must have a giant beast residing within..."

"Whatever, I’ll lure it away, and you go in and harvest!"

Carson, confident in his speedy escape, was ready to go, but before he could set off, Lilianna suddenly grabbed his arm.

"People are over there!"
