Chapter 1169: Chapter 1169: Killing you, no matter the cost, is a win!
Carson Flores looked up, sizing up the uninvited guest before him.
A middle-aged man with a square face and cold, stern features, his eyes were sharp as knives, staring intently at Carson Flores.
Carson Flores blinked. "Can I help you?"
The middle-aged man spoke coldly, "Human Emperor, are you always so careless when you’re out and about?"
Carson Flores’s brow furrowed slightly, and he instinctively circulated his Spiritual Energy, only to find it fluctuate faintly before going still.
His Dantian was like a pool of stagnant water, with an invisible force blocking the condensing of Spiritual Energy.
Unable to use Spiritual Energy!
Yet Carson Flores didn’t panic and calmly said, "Did you poison the food?"
The middle-aged man coldly replied, "I merely added a Locking Spirit Pill."
"Locking Spirit Pill?"
Carson Flores smiled. "The Locking Spirit Pill is colorless, tasteless, and can dissolve in any liquid. Those affected will have their Dantian completely sealed, unable to use Spiritual Energy, and even their Primordial Spirit will be temporarily paralyzed, unable to escape... This elixir seems quite difficult to refine, a rare commodity indeed."
The middle-aged man replied with fiery determination, "No matter how costly, to kill the Human Emperor, it is always a profit, don’t you think?"
Carson Flores nodded. "True, the pill is inanimate, and people are alive; it definitely is a profit. So why haven’t you made your move?"
The middle-aged man said gravely, "I will make my move when the time comes."
Carson Flores calmly replied, "Waiting for the drug to take full effect, are you? Since you haven’t struck yet, let me ask, why do you want to kill me? I don’t recall ever meeting you, and considering I move about freely, finding me must have taken considerable effort."
The middle-aged man gave a cold reply, "I have no personal grievance with you, but someone wants your life."
Carson Flores was slightly surprised and raised an eyebrow. "Hired hit? An assassin?"
The middle-aged man stared into Carson Flores’s eyes, suddenly lifted his hand, Spiritual Energy surged, sharp as a knife, and thrust at Carson Flores’s throat.
A green vine with blood-red spots suddenly shot out from under the table, like a whip, and struck the tip of the Spiritual Energy blade.
The Spiritual Energy blade instantly dissipated.
The middle-aged man was taken aback, suddenly stood up, and threw a punch.
Carson Flores remained seated, not moving an inch, watching the middle-aged man with a calm demeanor.
Divinity Transformation... late stage?
The vines spread out, like a whip of poison thorns, lashing fiercely.
The man’s punch, which seemed incredibly powerful, was actually scattered by that seemingly delicate vine!
His expression turned to one of disbelief, he hadn’t expected such a formidable Vine Demon to be beside Carson Flores!
Countless vines crazily grew from underneath the table like numerous reaching arms, grabbing at the man.
He summoned his Flying Sword, spat a mouthful of Essence Blood onto it, and in an instant, the sword glowed brightly with a white light, soaring swiftly towards Carson Flores.
The vines twisted sharply, turning into a huge net, blocking in front of Carson Flores.
The Flying Sword hit the vine net, only cutting through a dozen or so strands, before it ran out of energy; it was ensnared by the serpentine vines and completely immobilized.
At the same time, the vine spears shot towards the man.
The man’s body lit up, a shield of Spiritual Energy appeared, enveloping him, blocking the vines while he rapidly attempted to flee.
His speed was fast, but the vines were faster.
In the blink of an eye, the entire dining room was covered in vines, as dense as a net, sealing off the entire restaurant, covering floors and walls, like countless twisting snakes.
The middle-aged man charged forward, a vine whipped onto his light shield, and in the blink of an eye, the light shield dimmed and was on the verge of shattering.
The middle-aged man’s eyes showed a resolute decision, his aura suddenly soaring.
"He’s trying to self-destruct, stop him!"
Carson Flores’s voice sounded, and instantly beams of red light burst from more than ten vines, like spears, they pierced through the middle-aged man’s body, his Essence Blood absorbed in an instant. His body deflated like a pierced ball, as the previously swelling aura crazily leaked out.
A pendant around the middle-aged man’s neck suddenly shone, his body ignited with invisible flames, and a life-like black fog charged towards Carson Flores.
The vines swung, trying to sweep away the black fog, but it seemed intangible; the vines passed through without causing any harm.
The black fog entered Carson Flores’s body and then disappeared.
The middle-aged man’s body had shriveled up, he stared fixedly at Carson Flores, uttering indistinct sounds.
"You can’t escape! I’ll be waiting for you down below..."
After finishing his words, the invisible flames dissolved his body into smoke, and nothing was left.
"Master, are you all right?"
Josy’s worried voice sounded, with a hint of panic; after all, she was unable to stop the red smoke that entered Carson Flores’s body!
Carson Flores remained composed, "It’s no big issue, let’s retreat."
All vines retracted, and the dining space returned to normal, albeit in disarray, thankfully no one else was hurt.
Carson Flores turned to look at Delaney Hunter and smiled, "One tries to eat, and instead encounters an assassin. Is this why Cultivators dislike dining out?"
