Chapter 114: Chapter 114 Hugo Combs’s Leadership?_1
Carson Flores wasn’t thinking of stopping Martin Baker or Hugo Combs, but he was ready to pick the low-hanging fruit.
Using their hands to force other shareholders to sell their shares, he sat back and reaped the benefits.
Carson had calculated that this time he could acquire more than 30% of the shares. Adding the Miller Family’s 25%, he would have more than enough to gain controlling interest.
After arranging everything, Carson turned on his computer and started to idle away his time.
While he was gaming, his phone suddenly rang.
Leonard Reid.
Carson answered the call with a smile, "Mr. Reid, what can I do for you?"
Leonard’s voice was polite, "Mr. Flores, I’m back in Polgel. I’m wondering if you’re available tonight. I’d like to treat you to a drink."
Leonard’s invitation carried a certain boldness characteristic of people from the grassroots, appropriate to his rough-and-ready background.
Considering he had no plans for the night, Carson agreed, "Sure."
With Brian James dead, his goal of dealing with the Miller Group naturally fell through, but behind Brian, there was still a hidden hand at play.
With Brian’s failure, there might be another Brian James next, or it’s not out of the question that the person behind the scenes would take action personally.
While Carson could handle threats on a physical level by himself, the various traps and crises encountered in business development might not be solvable by force.
Leonard was a well-known real estate magnate within the province, with astonishing power. Since he was taking the initiative to humble himself and make connections, Carson didn’t mind making one more friend. Having more connections could mean more options when facing issues.
The private restaurant Leonard chose for treating his guests included Carson and another man and woman in the private dining room.
As Carson walked into the room, Leonard’s eyes lit up. He immediately stood up and greeted him with a smile, "Mr. Flores, you’ve arrived. Please, have a seat!"
Leonard was warm and personally stretched out his hand to pull out a chair for Carson.
The shock was evident in the eyes of the other man and woman witnessing this.
What was Leonard’s status?
Even when meeting leaders from the province, he was their equal. Yet, he was so courteous and attentive to this young man. Who could this youth be?
Carson said with a smile, "Mr. Reid, you’re being too polite. I might not dare to come next time."
Leonard laughed heartily, giving a thumbs-up, "Let’s not mention the great favor you did for me, Carson. I respect capable people the most in this life, and I won’t go on about your abilities, just this!"
A great favor?
The man and woman exchanged glances, their expressions growing more solemn.
Leonard’s influence was staggering; a stomp of his foot could shake the real estate prices of the whole provincial city. For such a figure to speak of a "great favor" was no trivial matter.
Even Leonard was respecting Mr. Flores and praising his capabilities with a thumbs-up. It was evident that Carson’s skills must be extraordinary.
The beautiful woman smiled and said, "Mr. Reid, would you introduce us?"
After Leonard seated Carson, he introduced, "This is Carson Flores, Mr. Flores has miraculous medical skills. My grandson was harmed and fell ill with a strange disease. I invited all the famous doctors, including two of the ’Big Four,’ but they were helpless. Mr. Flores cured him in less than two hours, saving my grandchild’s life."
"I was so grateful that I offered ten million as a consultation fee, but Mr. Flores, with his noble character, had me donate the money to children who could not afford treatment due to poverty..."
The man and woman were enlightened. So that was it!
Even two of the ’Big Four’ doctors were helpless, but Carson cured the illness with ease. His medical skills were not just slightly impressive!
Ten million, donated just like that. They might not understand such action, but they couldn’t help but admire it.
A true master of medicine.
No wonder Leonard was so enthusiastic, so humble. Who wouldn’t want to make friends with such a person?
A lifesaver at crucial times!
Leonard introduced, "Mr. Flores, this is Haven Woolery, CEO of a company involved in real estate demolition work for property development. She’s one of the partners in the new commercial district I’m developing."
Haven, in her early thirties and good-looking with phoenix eyes, stood up proactively, saying with respect, "Mr. Flores, it’s nice to meet you for the first time. Please look kindly upon me."
Carson shook hands with her, exchanging pleasantries.
Work related to real estate demolition is always complex, not something just anyone can handle. Incidentally, isn’t Black Bamboo Corporation also engaged in similar businesses?
With Leonard developing a commercial district in Polgel, collaborations were highly sought after. Haven’s early approval from Leonard indicated that she was not only skillful but likely also had a significant background.
Leonard pointed to a man in his fifties and laughed, "Zayd Singleton, head of the Environmental Protection Department of Polgel City, we’ve been dealing with each other for years, an old friend."
The head of the Environmental Protection Department?
A thought struck Carson, and he said with a smile, "The city has recently been conducting environmental audits on many enterprises, even setting up a special inspection team. That should be under the jurisdiction of the Environmental Department, right? Our company has had quite a few dealings with the inspection team."
Leonard chuckled, "That inspection team? Old Zayd is also the team leader."
The leader of the inspection team?
Carson found this interesting. He hadn’t expected that by coming for this dinner, he would actually meet Hugo Combs’ superior.
