Carson Flores headed towards the main hall and asked, "Who is it? Do you recognize them?"

The servant replied in a low voice, "A man from Kellan Gentry."

Carson Flores stopped in his tracks. "Kellan Gentry? Who is that?"

Carson Flores shook his head, "I haven’t."

The servant explained, "The full title is the Eight Great Brigand Kings of the Central Divine Continent. They are notorious bandit leaders, powerful and ruthless, known for their looting and pillaging. No one dares to oppose them."

Carson Flores raised an eyebrow, "So, this Kellan Gentry is one of the Bandit Kings?"

"Correct."

The servant answered in a low voice, "Kellan Gentry is also known as King Duncan of the Vajra Bandits. It’s said he possesses immense strength, an indestructible body, impervious to blades and spears, and he’s extremely fierce..."

Carson Flores asked, "What does he want here, to take over this city?"

The servant shook his head, "The Eight Kings come and go like the wind; they only plunder, never staying to occupy any city or staying in one place. I suspect they’ve come for protection money..."

Carson Flores’s expression turned odd, "Protection money? Have we ever paid them before?"

The servant shook his head, "I am not sure."

Carson Flores had been here for a while and had considered the possibility of other strong forces trying to seize the city. Yet, instead of a siege, someone had come for protection money.

Carson Flores entered the reception hall, where a middle-aged man was seated. He had a beard around his cheeks and a robust build, fitting the image of a bandit perfectly!

When the middle-aged man saw Carson Flores, a momentary confusion and caution flashed across his face.

Carson Flores smiled, "I am Conner Flores, the City Lord of Greown City. And you are?"

The middle-aged man examined Carson Flores, his gaze surprised, "So young, yet quite capable, huh?"

Carson Flores smiled, "You flatter me, you flatter me."

The middle-aged man stood up, gave a thumbs-up towards himself, "I am one of the eight generals under King Duncan, Zaire Schneider. I’m here this time to collect peace fees from Greown City."

Seated at the main seat, Carson Flores, still smiling, asked, "What exactly is a ’peace fee’?"

Zaire Schneider grinned, "Pay the fee, and you ensure your safety; thus, it’s called a peace fee. Pay and all is peaceful, fail to pay, and peace is not guaranteed."

Carson Flores’s expression remained unchanged, "Ah, so it’s a protection fee. How do you go about collecting it?"

Zaire Schneider flipped a hand, tossing over a list, "Prepare everything within ten days, and Greown City will be safe. If you fail, we will have to take matters into our own hands. By then, you, the City Lord, might just be the first to suffer."

Carson Flores picked up the list and frowned deeply after scanning it.

"Ten Million Spirit Stones, two thousand Lower-grade Spiritual Medicines, five hundred Middle-grade Spiritual Medicines, fifty Upper-grade Spiritual Medicines, three hundred Black Profound Stones."

Carson Flores looked up, "Mr. Zaire, previously, Greown City was ruled by a group of demons who plundered extensively, causing the people to live in misery. Is not the list a bit excessive?"
