Chapter 1007: Chapter 1007: The mantis stalks the cicada, unaware of the oriole behind
Carson Flores’s expression darkened, "What bad luck!"
As he eavesdropped on the conversation between the Crimson Dragon King and Lilianna Norman, Carson had already decided to flee as soon as the Crimson Dragon King and his group descended, but unexpectedly, he was specifically called out.
The eyes of the Crimson Dragon King and his group fell on Carson and his team, and he had no idea where Cristopher Hopkins’s hand had gone to; at this moment, escaping was too risky.
The Profound Yin Ghost Soldiers were probably similar to the Death Valley Undead Guards, but the fact that they were feared even by someone like the Crimson Dragon King indicated their formidable strength.
Fortunately, Carson caught a critical detail: the Profound Ice Ghost Soldiers attacked all living targets, but they wouldn’t attack inanimate objects.
Wasn’t this the same pattern as the Undead Guards?
Perhaps the Death Imprint from the Mark of Life and Death could be a solution?
If all else failed, he still had the Cicada’s Mantle; in these pitch-black underground caves, he could simply find a place to hide. Whether it was the Crimson Dragon King or those Profound Yin Ghost Soldiers, they wouldn’t be able to find him, right?
With that in mind, he decided to go down.
Truth be told, Carson was also intensely curious about what was inside the cave.
Demon Ancestor?
What was that?
The progenitor of the Demon Race?
The fact that people like the Crimson Dragon King and the Demon Race Holy Maiden were jointly making a concerted effort to search indicated a significant connection.
Mingling in the crowd, Carson kept his head down, waiting for the Supervisor to unlock the shackles of him and others, and then they obediently lined up, facing the pitch-black hole.
Lilianna Norman stood by, watching quietly. When her gaze fell on Carson, her eyes slightly startled.
This figure, it seemed familiar!
Was it someone she knew?
"Wait..."
When Carson felt Lilianna Norman’s gaze on him, and heard the first word she shouted, his heart suddenly tightened.
Did she recognize him?
Carson made a clean leap, diving directly into the pitch-black hole, his body quickly sinking into the darkness.
By the time Lilianna Norman finished shouting three words, Carson had already jumped down. The people behind, stunned, turned their heads; the Crimson Dragon King and the others also turned to look at her, their eyes filled with inquiry.
By then, Lilianna’s memory had singled him out – the bearer of the Emperor Seal, the new Demon Emperor’s son, Carson Flores.
The figure resembled Carson, but surely it was just a lookalike.
Given Carson’s identity, how could he possibly be there as a mining slave?
Coming back to her senses, Violeta Herrera offered a sheepish smile, "Just remembered something, it’s nothing, let’s continue."
All the Cultivators entered the darkness as the Crimson Dragon King smiled and said, "Let’s go, we will follow behind them."
"Okay!"
A few individuals drifted down, leisurely following behind the cultivators.
Carson fell into the pit, plummeting a hundred meters and landing on the ground.
He quickly applied a Death Imprint to himself, then hid behind a rock, pulling the Cicada’s Mantle over himself.
Whether Lilianna recognized him or not, Carson had to escape from the group first; otherwise, if they were watching from behind, wouldn’t he be just cannon fodder ahead?
The mantis stalks the cicada, unaware of the oriole behind; he didn’t want to be the cicada, nor the mantis – he wanted to be the oriole following behind.
About a dozen Cultivators tentatively moved forward through the cave, the Crimson Dragon King and his group descended from above, closely following behind.
Nobody noticed that one person was missing from the Cultivator group; even Lilianna, who glanced ahead subconsciously, wanting to see the familiar figure, found nothing and didn’t think much of it.
In pitch darkness, many Cultivators hid in the shadows; wasn’t it normal not to see that?
Both groups advanced along the corridor, one after another; Carson lifted the Cicada’s Mantle and carefully followed far behind the Crimson Dragon King and his group.
As the Cultivator group moved several kilometers along the passage and turned a corner, several phantom-like, fluttering figures suddenly appeared ahead.
Profound Yin Ghost Soldiers!
From a distance, they looked no different from humans, but a closer look revealed their bodies were completely composed of solidified Profound Yin Qi, giving them a deathly aura straight out of Hell.
The moment they spotted the approaching Cultivators, they rushed toward them without hesitation.
The Cultivators were already on guard and immediately turned around to flee upon encountering them.
The Profound Yin Ghost Soldiers, like harbingers of death, began reaping lives.
The leading Cultivators had only run a few steps when their bodies suddenly exploded into clouds of Blood Mist, immediately absorbed by the bodies of the Profound Yin Ghost Soldiers.
The Crimson Dragon King immediately took out the Death Spirit Bead, a creepy eyeball reminiscent of a dead fish’s eye, emitting a mysterious aura.
The Death Spirit Bead released a grey, foggy mist that quickly enveloped the nearby individuals.
The Profound Yin Ghost Soldiers rushed past them, oblivious to their presence, and continued their pursuit towards the fleeing Pathfinder Cultivators.
"Now’s our chance!"
The Crimson Dragon King whispered softly, the group soared up, enveloped in the mist from the Death Spirit Bead, and swiftly dashed further into the cave.
