Chapter 567: Chapter 571 My Grandson is the Antagonist (18)

When Luo Luxi arrived, the usually deserted cafeteria was unexpectedly bustling with activity.

It was mealtime, and almost all of the food-serving windows had long queues.

At a glance, there were practically no free seats.

On the other side, the teachers’ dining area was also full.

It seemed like all the teachers and students had gathered in the cafeteria to eat.

Luo Luxi, who had taken a few days off due to matters at the fragrance store, had stayed in his dorm handling a mountain of paperwork. Having not kept up with external affairs for just a few days, he felt like he had missed a lot of important information.

He observed quietly for a while and quickly found his friends’ table, walking over.

By now, several portions of food had already been served in front of the kids.

Seeing Luo Luxi, one of them quickly waved and said, "Lu Xi, over here.... we saved you a spot."

Luo Luxi just shifted his gaze from the food on the table, his brows furrowing, and without a word, followed the direction pointed by his friend and sat down in the only empty seat.

"Wow, there’s beef today, not bad.... what a pleasant surprise."

One, surprised by the meal of the day, called out while the others also smiled.

"The menu today is pretty good."

Luo Luxi’s frown deepened as he looked down at the beef in front of him and couldn’t help but ask, "What’s been happening these days? Why are all of you.... eating in the cafeteria now?"

These kids had seen better things; the quality of the beef in their plates wasn’t great, but it was enough to keep them pleasantly surprised....

When this subject came up, the kids who had just shown a bit of happiness due to the food immediately lost their smiles.

They began complaining one after another, "Don’t even mention it, we received letters from home a few days ago saying that food is scarce, asking us to eat here."

"Yeah, my family too.... At first, the cafeteria’s food was quite decent, with meat and soup, but it has gotten worse day by day, and more and more people are coming to eat here. I heard from the teachers in charge of the cafeteria that in a few days, they might start charging because the school’s food stock is also running low and apparently, it’s difficult to get supplies from outside too."

Before starting school, Luo Luxi was aware of this situation, but he hadn’t expected the reality to be even graver than he anticipated, affecting even the households of nobles.

"Today’s dishes, compared to the past few days, are already good, at least everything is intact, without any spoiled or rotten mixing in."

Luo Luxi tasted a piece of potato, almost spitting it out.

The taste was too drastically different from before, although he hadn’t tried pig food... but he imagined pig food would taste somewhat similar to what he just had.

Yet, the classmates around him were enjoying the food, not exhibiting the pickiness and meticulousness they had when they first entered the school.

When you can’t even get full from meals, what’s there to be picky about... are they supposed to starve?

Luo Luxi pushed the food around on his plate, unable to bring himself to take another bite despite making up his mind.

Hearing the conversations of his classmates, he grew concerned about that person back home.

But on further consideration, based on the regular standard meals he was still receiving daily, that person seemed to be doing quite well and didn’t seem to need his extra worry.

That person would rather make his own grandson suffer than let himself suffer.

In five years, Luo Luxi felt he had come to deeply understand the nature of that person.

Even so, he couldn’t help but worry...

"Lu Xi, why aren’t you eating?"

Luo Luxi barely smiled; before he could respond, the logistical staff, carrying a large lunchbox, loudly called out his name at the cafeteria entrance.

"Student Luo Luxi, your family has sent something for you; please, come and collect it."

The teacher’s voice was incredibly loud. Even in the noisy cafeteria, his voice overwhelmed all other sounds, distinctly reaching Luo Luxi’s ears.

Not only Luo Luxi heard it, but everyone in the cafeteria did.

Almost everyone turned their attention to Luo Luxi; the teachers from the classroom area couldn’t help but look over as well.

Teacher Qiu Tian’s gaze circled around the object in the logistics teacher’s hand before he lowered his head, his thoughts unknown.

Luo Luxi quickly got the lunchbox in his hands. Amid the many intense gazes, he didn’t really want to open the lunchbox.

His classmates sitting nearby, although curious, respected his feelings and glanced only once before shifting their gazes away.

However, a hand suddenly appeared out of nowhere and, catching Luo Luxi off guard, flipped open the lid of his lunchbox.

Instantly, a wave of gasps and quiet exclamations rippled through the cafeteria.

"Wow....."

Even the well-mannered kids sitting near Luo Luxi couldn’t help but exclaim in surprise,

"So, so sumptuous..."

To Luo Luxi, the contents of the lunchbox were just his everyday standard, but compared to the distasteful food next to him, it was like heaven and earth.

The lunchbox contained four dishes: sweet and sour pork loin, braised spare ribs, shredded potatoes in vinegar sauce, and a bowl of thick chicken soup.

Besides those, there was a small bowl of fruit and a cup of juice.

Such an arrangement, even before, would have been considered luxurious, let alone now.

Everyone’s eyes were fixed, their previous thoughts of decent potato beef and small green vegetables suddenly becoming hard to swallow.

Caught off guard by this turn of events, Luo Luxi glanced sharply at the detestable instigator.

Turand did not seem to think his action was wrong; instead, he clicked his tongue discontentedly, "Why do you get to eat so well when we have to eat this?"

Luo Luxi glared fiercely at Turand and took the dishes out of the lunchbox before turning to say, "You should ask your parents why...."

"I can eat this well because my grandmother is willing to spoil me."

"You eat poorly because your parents aren’t striving enough."

That was the bitter truth—his grandmother was wealthy and willing to spend on him.

Turand didn’t care about that; to him, as Teacher Qiu Tian always said, everyone was equal. They were all students together; there should be no hierarchy.

He stated righteously, raising his voice, "Give me a share of that food."

Even the other students who wanted to eat were shocked by Turand’s actions.

Luo Luxi snorted, "You must be dreaming."

He pushed the still steaming food toward other kids, "Here, you guys have some."
