Chapter 613: Shang Yu Got Drunk
Chapter 613: Chapter 613: Shang Yu Got Drunk
It was eleven o’clock at night, and finally, the dinner party ended.
Each person made their own way home, Zong Yue declined Luoyu’s offer to drive her and drove herself back to King’s Bay Villa.
Upon entering the door, Zong Yue tossed her handbag onto the console table, massaged her stiff shoulders, and walked into the dimly lit living room to pour a glass of water. She sat on the sofa and began to zone out.
Tonight, several of her uncles seemed to be in a bad mood.
They barely touched their food during the meal, spending most of the time drinking.
In Zong Yue’s mind, they were all invincible figures. What could possibly make them so troubled?
She couldn’t think of a reason for their behavior, and even when she asked Qiaoqiao, she didn’t get a specific answer.
Zong Yue lay her head on the armrest of the sofa with her eyes closed, her thoughts in a haze.
In a state between sleep and wakefulness, she vaguely heard footsteps coming from the stairs.
Zong Yue abruptly opened her eyes and propped herself up to look in that direction.
The living room lights were off, and only the corner nightlight cast a silhouette of Li Jun’s slender figure.
He was still dressed in a shirt and trousers, looking as though he had just arrived, with a frown and an annoyed face staring at Zong Yue, "What were you doing out so late, and why didn’t you answer your phone?"
Tonight, he had called Zong Yue three times, but she hadn’t picked up.
Zong Yue rarely behaved so capriciously as to not answer her phone. Li Jun, worried that something had happened to her, had changed back into his clothes, ready to go out and look for her.
Li Jun’s tone of inquiry was stiff and domineering, his eyes bright and fierce as if burning with flames.
Zong Yue was taken aback and instinctively reached for her phone, only to realize that she was wearing a dress and had left it in her purse.
"You called me?" she said as she walked to the entrance to retrieve her phone from her bag. After unlocking it, she saw the missed calls from Li Jun.
Zong Yue was somewhat annoyed and returned to the living room, looking at Li Jun’s displeased expression, and said softly, "I didn’t hear it."
At dinner, she was constantly chatting with Qiaoqiao and truly didn’t expect Li Jun to call her.
His initiative was rare, and even the last time he drunkenly sent her a WeChat message, he casually claimed the next day that he had no recollection of it.
Zong Yue’s expectations for him had grown less and less—not out of lack of love, but because she had grown accustomed to such a tepid and calm way of interacting.
Hearing sweet nothings from Li Jun’s lips was most likely just a fantasy.
Zong Yue went upstairs intending to explain further, but the man in her view turned and walked towards his study.
For no reason at all, she felt a bit guilty.
Zong Yue stood on the stairs and sighed, glanced at the study, and then headed back to the master bedroom with her head down.
Inside the study, Li Jun, irritated, lit a cigarette. It was now past midnight, and in the time it took to smoke half a cigarette, another thought occurred to him. He hurriedly took his phone out of his pocket and called his assistant.
"No need to look anymore, go rest," he said.
The assistant, racing towards South Sea Technology Park, heard Li Jun and quickly asked, "Secretary-General, has Madam returned? I can reach Madam’s company in another ten minutes, should I..."
"Don’t go, she’s back already; you get some rest," Li Jun replied.
In fact, while Li Jun had arranged for his assistant to look for her, he was also ready to drive to the police station himself.
After all, the police station is the fastest way to find someone.
Zong Yue didn’t have many friends in South Sea; even if she was at a gathering, she shouldn’t have been out of contact.
Whether out of a sense of responsibility or obligation, Li Jun couldn’t just sit at home comfortably waiting for her to return.
Now that she was back, even though he was relieved, he was still plagued by annoyance.
Her forlorn expression as she lay on the sofa earlier, as if deep in thought, didn’t seem to be work-related agitation.
Ten minutes later, Li Jun returned to the master bedroom to find Zong Yue sitting on the edge of the bed, wrapped in a bath towel, drying her hair.
Her skin was not the milky white kind but had a healthy wheat color to it.
But her figure was well proportioned, and her bones were beautiful.
Especially her collarbones that extended into gentle curves towards her shoulders were just perfect.
Li Jun rolled his throat and, having changed into pajamas, he lay back on the bed.
Zong Yue dried her hair until it was half-dry and turned off the light before crawling into the covers.
In the pitch-black room, the only sound was their even breathing.
Zong Yue turned her back to Li Jun and fell asleep after a short while.
As a result, she didn’t hear that deep, inquiring question, "Who did you dine with tonight?"
Given Li Jun’s straight male personality, he rarely took the initiative to pry into Zong Yue’s affairs.
Firstly, he didn’t want to pressure her psychologically, and secondly, he always believed that Zong Yue was always sensible in her actions.
But tonight, he inexplicably felt... that after she started her career, she seemed to have secrets.
...
Meanwhile, the business van returned to South Sea Mansion.
Jin Rong had fallen asleep on the way back and was now being helped by Liuyun and Wang Yue to a guest room.
In the car, Li Qiao leaned sideways on the edge of the bed, looking at the mountain-like Shang Yu beside her, raising her eyebrows, "Can you walk?"
"Of course." The man revealed a faint smile and stood up, bending to exit the car.
Li Qiao watched his figure with interest, automatically ignoring Shang Yu’s already blurry gaze.
He was drunk, yet still graceful and composed, only more prone to smiles than usual.
Shang Yu had a good tolerance for alcohol, and even when drunk, he neither made a fuss nor caused trouble, but instead, he became more arrogantly self-contained.
The temperature at South Sea Mountain was a bit low at night. Li Qiao got out of the car and followed him, taking his hand and making as if to strut forward.
But Shang Yu didn’t move, standing still and looking at Li Qiao with a misty drunk gaze.
His eyes were already deep like ink, and now, tinged with drunkenness, they seemed even more tender when he gazed at her.
The man opened his lips, his voice a deep, husky rasp, "Sweetheart, are you cold?"
Li Qiao glanced at the casual suit she was wearing, then towards Shang Yu, swallowing back the words ’Not cold.’
She wanted to see what a drunk man would do that was out of character for him.
Thus, Li Qiao nodded seriously, "Cold."
Luoyu and Zhui Feng, who had stopped beside them, silently turned and walked back.
Then, Li Qiao witnessed Shang Yu lifting his symmetrical fingers, methodically beginning to undo his shirt buttons.
She startled for a moment, then, unable to help herself, she laughed as she held his hand back, "What are you doing?"
The man drew her hand to his lips for a kiss, the other hand continuing with the buttons, "Giving you my shirt."
Li Qiao: "..."
He was only wearing a black shirt. By giving her his, did he plan to walk around the Mansion half-naked?
Li Qiao’s lips twitched and she held onto his hand, shaking her head with a smile, "Just kidding."
Shang Yu slightly bowed his head, his smile deepening, "You said it, you’re cold."
Li Qiao wiped her face, wondering if she could reason with a drunk man.
She sighed heavily and pulled him towards the Mansion, "It won’t be cold inside."
"That’s fine, too." The man’s expression was exceptionally inscrutable.
Li Qiao eyed him darkly, already starting to regret her impulsive act.
Having finally dragged Shang Yu into the living room and barely settling down, Li Qiao turned her head only to find that the buttons on his shirt were now completely undone.
