Chapter 575: Chapter 575: What Did This Factory Do to You?
A few minutes later, Nan Xin left the office with her phone in hand.
Li San sat in his swivel chair with a cigarette hanging from the corner of his mouth, eyeing his despondent elder brother Li Yan with disdain. "You came to the border and didn’t tell Qiaoqiao?"
Li Yan glanced at him, "No, she’s been quite busy lately, I didn’t want to disturb her."
"Spill it, what do you really want from Nan Xin?"
Li San exhaled a thick cloud of smoke toward Li Yan, his arched eyebrows conveying a hint of danger.
Li Yan pursed his lips, looking at the stern-faced Li San, pondered for a few seconds, and still chose to speak the truth, "I asked her to help me find someone. What else could it be?"
Li San squinted suspiciously, "Who could possibly be worth your while to come all the way to the border to find? Is that person in the border?"
"Not here, and I don’t know where either." Li Yan stood up, pushed back his chair, and walked to the window of the office, anxiously ruffling his hair as he looked out onto the lawn. "I’ll be going to the Myanmar auction house in a couple of days to deliver some paintings, just passing by, so I thought I’d drop by. If I don’t find the person, so be it, I didn’t have much hope to begin with."
Actually, Li San rarely saw Li Yan looking so dejected.
In his memory, Li Yan was a shrewd and worldly businessman, attracted to nothing but famous paintings.
This time, however, seemed to be unprecedented.
Li San took the cigarette from his mouth, "You didn’t come to the border specifically to find Nan Xin?"
"What do I need her for, does she have paintings?" Li Yan turned around and raised his eyebrows in a retort.
Li San’s expression relaxed and he settled more comfortably into his seat, "She doesn’t have any. If you want any paintings, just tell me, stop bothering her."
Li Yan chuckled wryly, suppressing the melancholy in his heart, and cast a scrutinizing look at him, "Something’s off with you, Third Brother. Even if she’s your capable assistant, do you really need to protect her this much? I’m your second brother. Why do you treat me like I’m a thief?"
Especially his behavior when Li Yan had first walked in, Li San acted as though he had caught him in the act.
"Enough with the nonsense!" Li San stubbed out his cigarette and brushed the ash off his training pants, "Aren’t you supposed to go to Myanmar? I’ll send someone to take you right now."
Li Yan’s brows furrowed, "There’s no rush, I..."
Li San didn’t give him a chance to refuse, his tone brusque, "If you don’t leave now, just wait for Qiaoqiao to come and drag you back."
"Damn it, Li Xiaosan, did you tell Qiaoqiao?" Li Yan sucked in a breath of cold air, glaring at him incredulously.
Li San motioned toward the door with his lips, "There’s too much going on at the border. Don’t make trouble for me. Just get going."
And so, without having found Mo Jue’s location, Li Yan was deceived and bundled off by Li San onto a helicopter heading for Myanmar half an hour later.
He wasn’t deliberately causing trouble. The person who had been by his side for more than two years had suddenly vanished into thin air.
Out of certain ingrained habits, he found himself at a loss and didn’t dare let Qiaoqiao find out. That’s why he had taken a roundabout way to the border, asking Nan Xin for help in finding Mo Jue.
Li Yan thought that as long as he knew where Mo Jue was, he could go to the country or city where she was. Maybe he could even provide her with a prison meal to improve her food situation or something.
...
Meanwhile, while Li Yan and Li San were chatting, Nan Xin went to the outskirts of the factory and reported to Li Qiao without any mental pressure.
Having learned from the previous incident where Li San got injured, she didn’t dare hide anything from Qiaoqiao now.
At the moment, Li Qiao was sitting in the CEO’s office of the venture capital firm, nodded knowingly upon hearing Nan Xin’s words, "Mhm, you don’t have to deal with it."
After hanging up the phone, Li Qiao couldn’t help but smile.
She had underestimated her second brother’s regard for Mo Jue.
Mo Jue certainly wasn’t in Faliang but had been sent by her to another place.
Less than five minutes later, Li San called again and informed her that Li Yan had already been taken to Myanmar.
Li Qiao acknowledged this information and was about to hang up when Li San timely called out to her, "Qiaoqiao."
"What is it?"
Li San pondered for a few seconds, then decided to be straightforward, "Have you ever thought about going back to the border to have a look?"
Li Qiao asked casually in return, "To see what?"
It sounded as if Li San was lighting a cigarette, the sound of the lighter sparked several times, "Someone saw Yin Lao Er at the border."
Li Qiao’s eyelids snapped open, "Are you sure?"
"No one at the border doesn’t recognize you Seven Sons, especially women like Yin Lao Er, who attract so much attention. Is it that hard to recognize her?"
Li San’s reply plunged Li Qiao into deep thought.
All these years, no one had been able to find Yin Lao Er’s whereabouts.
As one of the beauties among the Seven Sons, she truly was eye-catching at the border back then.
Yin Mo possessed both the mystery of an Eastern woman and the wildness of a Western woman, her face was her unique hallmark.
Moreover, her figure was even more enchanting than Nan Xin’s; even in a simple black training suit, she could wear it with a sensual allure that made blood race, becoming a stunning presence wherever she went.
Li Qiao snapped out of her reverie and rubbed her temple, "Where did they see her?"
Li San was quiet for a few seconds, "Our Seven Sons abandoned headquarters."
"Got it, I’ll visit when I have time."
"Qiaoqiao, your third brother hopes you come back for yourself, not for anyone else," said Li San, his voice bearing a cryptic weight as he exhaled circles of smoke, adding, "There’s no one who should make you stay away from the border for three years, nor should there be anyone who makes you specifically go back to the border. Do you understand what I am saying?"
He emphasized the word ’specifically’, wanting Li Qiao to grasp his intention.
Li Qiao promptly pressed the end call button and tossed her phone onto the desk, her gaze sinking heavily towards the painting on the wall.
After Xiao Yehui’s resurrection, Yin Lao Er had also appeared...
Li Qiao narrowed her eyes contemplatively, as a fleeting thought persisted in her mind.
At that moment, the frosted glass door of the office was pushed open, Xi Luo came in, her high heels clicking elegantly, "Kid, sorry to have kept you waiting."
She naturally seated herself on the boss’s chair, wiping her hands with a tissue, "You suddenly came over today, have you finally decided to join me in running the fund company?"
Li Qiao leaned back in her chair, crossing her long, slender legs, got straight to the point, "Have you heard of the Huoli Factory in Myanmar?"
Xi Luo paused, surprised by the sudden query. After collecting her thoughts, she answered thoughtfully, "I’ve heard of it many times. The factory has grown rapidly in recent years. We approached them for a partnership before, but it didn’t work out in the end.
There is talk that they have connections with the Myanmar Royal Family; they have become almost the leading enterprise in Myanmar’s manufacturing industry in just a few years."
Backed by the Royal Family?
Li Qiao discovered last night that the enterprise which hijacked the Border Factory’s orders was this Huoli Factory located in Myanmar.
Xi Luo stood up to pour two glasses of water and placed them in front of Li Qiao, leaning in to look at her, "What’s wrong? Did this factory cross you?"
"Mm, they stole something from me." Li Qiao picked up the phone from the table again, pondered for a moment, then in front of Xi Luo made an overseas phone call.
