Chapter 535: Chapter 535: I Am Your Dad
Early at six in the morning, Li Qiao returned to the hotel near the hospital.
Yun Lih followed her to the door of the room, his right hand clutching the lapel of his suit jacket and draping it over his shoulder, "You rest well, and I’ll let you know in time if there’s any news from the hospital."
The bodyguard swiped the card to open the door, and Li Qiao turned her head to meet his gaze, "Take good care of her."
Yun Lih smirked, "Don’t worry, her family is here, and with me too, it’s unlikely that she won’t be well taken care of."
Li Qiao looked at him with a heavy gaze, the word "thank you" lingering on her lips but never spoken.
Seeing Li Qiao’s intention, Yun Lih simply reached out to tousle her hair, his Adam’s apple bobbing twice, "When are you leaving?"
"Soon."
Hearing this, Yun Lih nodded in understanding and tilted his chin towards the door, "Got it, go and rest."
Li Qiao pursed her lips, withdrew her gaze, and ultimately said nothing as she stepped into the room.
Half an hour later, after taking a bath, she sat in the armchair by the window, her bleak expression returning to normal.
Having shed the tense emotions and heavy burden in her heart, Li Qiao took only ten minutes to clear her mind.
What to do and how to do it, she already had a preliminary plan.
So, at 7:30 in the morning, a small business jet took off from Cloud City Airport, heading for the Cabinet Office in the Capital of Myanmar.
...
That evening, forty-eight hours after Xia Siyu’s car accident, although still unconscious, her vital signs were stable, and she had been transferred to an intensive care unit for monitoring.
Her father, Xia Changye, and her mother had temporarily returned to the hotel to rest, while her elder brother and Yun Lih stayed in the ward, occasionally making small talk.
About ten minutes later, Big Brother Xia went to the bathroom.
Before long, Yun Lih pursed his lips and rose from the couch to approach the bedside.
With his hands in his pockets, he looked down at the pale Xia Siyu; she rarely appeared so weak in his memory.
A thought struck Yun Lih, and he bent down to observe her closely, then startlingly said, "Lao Wu, it’s time to wake up. Sleeping too long might make you brain-damaged."
He was well aware of Li Qiao’s reason for sending him to Cloud City.
If it were only to protect her, sending a few bodyguards would suffice.
Li Qiao’s true intent probably lay in hoping he could awaken Xia Siyu.
Yun Lih didn’t have high hopes, but that didn’t deter him from trying.
Xia Siyu on the bed showed no reaction.
Yun Lih touched his nose with a hint of frustration, feeling like he was the idiot now.
He stretched out his leg to pull over a swivel chair and sit down, arms crossed over his chest, not caring whether Xia Siyu could hear him or not, he muttered to himself, "If you don’t wake up soon, Li Qiao might start a massacre for you guys.
This incident is full of suspicions; are you willing to let her face that bloody storm alone?
Aren’t you, the Border Seven Sons, supposed to care for her the most? Can you bear to watch her struggle on her own?"
Three seconds after he spoke, Xia Siyu’s fingers moved slightly.
But Yun Lih didn’t see it.
He turned to look at the night sky falling outside the window, his voice turning wistful, "She’s worried about you, so she asked me to come and watch over you.
Lao Wu, when Li Qiao was risking her life for you guys at the border, the scars on her body were all for your sake.
Now, isn’t it time for you guys to start caring for her a bit?"
After speaking, Yun Lih was overwhelmed with an indescribable restlessness.
He closed his eyes and sighed, thinking about going out for a smoke. Just as he was about to push off the chair with his knees, a faint sound came from the bed, "Cough..."
Yun Lih shuddered, and three words floated through his mind: "Awesome."
He pursed his thin lips tightly, his Adam’s apple bobbing continuously as he fixed his gaze on Xia Siyu, indeed seeing her eyelids flutter, slowly opening a slit.
Yun Lih smacked his tongue, bent down in front of her, his eyes brimming with a hint of joy, "Awake?"
Xia Siyu’s consciousness was still very hazy, feeling nothing but confusion in her head and heaviness in her limbs.
Recently, she had been running around for the poisoning incident at the branch company’s pharmaceutical factory, and it had been a long time since she had been able to sleep soundly.
Just when she finally managed to fall into a deep sleep, there was someone chattering incessantly by her ear, annoying her to death.
Xia Siyu’s face scrunched up, feeling a severe headache.
As her consciousness returned, she finally remembered that she seemed to have been in a car accident, and if she wasn’t mistaken, the airbag had smacked directly into her face during the accident.
She wondered if her face had been disfigured.
Xia Siyu’s wild thoughts lasted only a few seconds.
So when she opened her eyes, and Yun Lih’s handsome face appeared within her blurry vision, she was stunned.
It was a look filled with longing and admiration, mixed with heartbreak and grievance.
Although it was fleeting, it was enough for Yun Lih to understand the complexity of those emotions.
He straightened up, creating some distance between them, raising his thick eyebrows, and asked again, "Really awake?"
What followed made Yun Lih feel terrible.
Because Xia Siyu looked at him with a very bewildered and unfamiliar expression, pursed her dry lips, and asked languidly, "Who, are, you?"
Yun Lih felt a suffocating pressure in his chest, unable to recover for a good while.
He licked his back teeth, looked down at Xia Siyu with a frown, "Don’t recognize me?"
Playing the amnesia card with him, huh?
Xia Siyu shook her head extremely slowly, still frowning and thinking hard for a long time, then shook her head again, "I don’t remember..."
Yun Lih snorted, then said with a smile yet seriously, "I’m your dad."
Xia Siyu’s expression of pain instantly froze: "..."
Seeing her silent, Yun Lih patiently sat down again, crossed his legs, and tilted his head, "Won’t you call me?"
Xia Siyu looked at him expressionlessly, her heart full of regret; why did she have to shoot herself in the foot?
The two looked each other in the eye, Xia Siyu closed her eyes, not wanting to talk anymore.
Just then, her big brother returned, walking up to the bedside, Yun Lih said with a half-smile, "Come on, open your eyes and look, your second great-uncle is here."
Big Brother Xia: "??"
With a sense of resignation, Xia Siyu murmured, "Brother Lih, you’re really boring..."
Finally, a light smile of relief appeared on Yun Lih’s handsome face as he got up to give a few instructions and then left the ward to inform Li Qiao.
Although both had been injured, the injuries were not life-threatening.
In fact, compared to the injuries they had suffered at the border in the past, these were nothing.
Even when Shen Qingye was shot in the chest, he only needed to rest in bed for a while, his heart was completely fine.
After questioning by Yun Lih, both Shen Qingye and Xia Siyu had an impression of the person who had attacked them.
And both believed that it was their own bad luck, coupled with a lack of vigilance, that allowed their enemy to take them by surprise.
When Yun Lih conveyed these messages to Li Qiao, it was already a day later.
Over the phone, Li Qiao’s voice was very calm, simply acknowledging with a sound before ending the call.
