Chapter 503: Chapter 503: Ancestor, I’ve Missed You So Much
At this moment, Li Qiao, trailing at the back, looked up when she heard the voices.
Perhaps because of her recent marriage, Zong Yue seemed to carry an air of demure femininity and playful charm.
Even her brows and eyes no longer looked as somber and deserted as before.
Soon, everyone got into their respective cars.
About forty minutes later, two vehicles stopped near Changan Street at the Imperial Capital Grand Hotel.
Inside the private room, Zong Zhan, donning a camouflage uniform, had been waiting for a while.
When he saw the Li family members enter, he stood up to greet them, "Patriarch Li, welcome."
Li Guangming stepped forward to shake hands with him, "Mr. Zong, sorry to have kept you waiting."
"Not at all, I just arrived too," Zong Zhan said as he gestured towards an empty seat, then ordered the staff to serve the dishes.
During the meal, most of the time was spent with Zong Zhan and Li Guangming making polite conversation.
Besides briefly discussing the location of the wedding banquet at the bride’s hometown, it was mostly small talk.
Despite the outward harmony in this private room, everyone had their own thoughts, but no one voiced them.
The Li family members filled the whole table, but the Zong family had only sent Zong Zhan.
A slight was inevitable.
During the banquet, Li Qiao left the room with her cell phone, and soon after, Li San followed her out.
In the fire escape, Li San lit a cigarette, his deep voice echoing in the empty stairwell, "Is the Zong family doing this on purpose?"
Leaning against the stair railing with her right leg bent on the step, Li Qiao lazily replied, "Obviously."
Li San scoffed, exhaling a cloud of smoke and squinting his eyes, "They’re supposed to be a reputable family, yet their generosity leaves much to be desired."
Li Qiao looked down at her own toes and smiled, "We’re visiting the Zong family tomorrow, aren’t we? Their true attitude will show then."
Backing out of the marriage was out of the question.
But causing trouble for the Li family was hardly difficult.
"Do you have plans for tonight?" Li San asked, biting on his cigarette and glancing at his phone.
Li Qiao raised her eyebrows, "Something’s up? I need to go meet someone."
Li San lifted his head from the screen, his lips curling playfully, "Got friends in the Imperial Capital too?"
Li Qiao didn’t respond, just looked at him indifferently.
"Alright then, just be careful out there," Li San admonished as he texted a reply on his phone, then added, "Zong Zhan said he’s arranged for us to stay at Emperor View Villa tonight. I won’t be coming back, make sure you get the address."
...
By the time the welcoming banquet concluded, it was nearly nine in the evening.
In front of Emperor View Grand Hotel, Zong Zhan escorted the Li family to their car.
Before leaving, he looked at Li Qiao and whispered to her, "Don’t take it to heart, sister-in-law. The old patriarch is just upset, so this time... the hospitality was lacking."
Li Qiao stood by the car door looking back at him, tugging at her lips, "It’s fine, I understand."
Zong Zhan nodded and gestured towards the car door, "Get in then. I’ll be waiting for you at the Zong family tomorrow."
"Sure, see you then."
Zong Zhan watched the two Hongqi cars drive onto Changan Street and sighed softly before heading to the parking lot. He called Shang Yu, and without waiting for the latter to speak, he said with a laugh, "You know, sister-in-law is really quite understanding."
"..."
"Don’t worry, she’s in a new place and not familiar with everything here, I’ll definitely take good care of her. Even though our old man and Zong Yue are upset with each other, he has no ill will towards the Li family."
On the other side, Li Qiao, whom Zong Zhan referred to as being unfamiliar with life in the Imperial Capital, had the driver pull over as soon as they exited Changan Street.
Li Qiao got out of the car by the roadside, and Li San quickly followed suit.
Li Yan gave them a glance, waved his hand nonchalantly, and then instructed the driver, "Let’s go."
Then, at the next intersection, Li Er also got out of the car.
The driver was baffled.
What’s with these three siblings?
If you wanted to leave, why didn’t you say anything when you got in the car?
Insisting on making him stop midway, what should he do now?
Should he follow the leading car to Emperor View Villa or head back home to report the situation?
After some thought, the driver pressed the gas pedal to catch up with the car ahead and dutifully called Zong Zhan.
So, just five minutes after bragging to Shang Yu, Zong Zhan, upon hearing the driver’s report, fell into contemplation while sitting in his car.
...
Under the glamorous night sky, the red lights blazed in a tumult.
At 9:10 pm, the sound of cool yet piercing sports car engines hummed through Changan Street.
Seven or eight Ferraris sped by, and even as the cars moved off into the distance, the roaring sound still echoed in people’s ears.
Luxury cars in Imperial Capital were not an unusual sight.
But when seven or eight of them appeared at once, all different models and colors of Ferraris, that was rather eye-catching.
Five minutes later, the Ferrari convoy stopped on an auxiliary road.
The scissor doors of the lead car opened, and a pair of Doc Martens stepped out. Looking further up, one could see baggy hip-hop pants and a white T-shirt adorned with a few decorative chains—a hip-hop yet avant-garde outfit.
At over 185 centimeters tall, his appearance as he walked out of the car immediately attracted many pedestrians’ gazes.
Young, handsome, wealthy; these labels on him were indeed dazzling capital.
However, he ignored the admiring looks around him, shut the car door, and howled, "Ancestor, I’ve missed you so much."
After the howl, he fluttered over like a hip-hop butterfly towards the figure sitting on the flower bed’s edge.
His "ancestor" was Li Qiao.
And he, the sole heir of the Ferrari Asia-Pacific region’s general agency and the Fa Family Crown Prince, was Anyao.
The allure Anyao presented when he got out of the car was matched by the shocking sight of him dashing over at that moment.
At that time, Li Qiao was sitting by the flower bed, watching as he charged over at a sprinter’s pace. She rubbed her face with an indescribable expression and prolonged her tone, "Stop right there..."
Anyao took a large step forward, standing in front of Li Qiao with his chains flung to the back of his neck.
"Ancestor, it’s been so long, how about a hug?" After saying that, he stretched out his arms like an orangutan.
Li Qiao just sized up his actions, well accustomed to them by now. As she stood up from the flower bed and glanced towards the road, she lifted her chin, "No hugs."
"Just one hug, please!" Anyao shuffled a few steps closer to her, whining like a big dog begging for affection.
Li Qiao didn’t say anything and simply tossed him a cool look, causing Anyao to hum quietly and very consciously drop his arms.
He reached back to move the chains to the front, then turned around shaking his leg and whistled, "Ancestor, I brought over eight cars, the latest models fully equipped, all for you to choose from. Pick any you like."
Li Qiao glanced at them and nodded towards the third car, "That one, the F8."
Turning his head, Anyao bent over with a grin, "Is one enough? Don’t you want to check out the others? They’re free, I’ll give it to you as a gift."
"No need," Li Qiao glanced sideways at him, took out her phone from her pocket, opened the online banking app, and transferred the money for the car.
Anyao received the deposit notification, and his face, beaming with a smile, instantly fell, "Do you really need to be so formal with me? After all, I am also a ’reservist’ of your Border Seven Sons, aren’t I?"
