The Favored Heiress
Chapter 437: Long Time No See

Chapter 437: Chapter 437: Long Time No See

All of the Border Seven Sons knew him, but he treated Li Qiao most specially.

Xia Siyu didn’t dare to look at him and kept her head down, drinking water after taking her seat.

The warm water went down her throat, but it couldn’t quell the pounding of her heart in her chest.

At that moment, Yun Lih removed the cigarette from his lips with his slender fingers and blew a puff of white smoke towards Xia Siyu. "Come on, tell Brother, what were you trying to do by calling me over eighty times last night?"

"Cough cough—"

Xia Siyu choked on her water, turning a shade of crimson as it went down the wrong pipe.

The usually aloof and unattainable woman seemed more prone to error in front of the man she liked, perhaps the prouder she was.

She had not anticipated Yun Lih would so openly bring up the matter.

Shen Qingye stared at Xia Siyu with his mouth agape. "Over eighty calls? Did your phone catch a virus?"

Don’t mention it, that’s a new line of thought right there!

Setting down her teacup, Xia Siyu wiped her mouth with a napkin and looked back at Yun Lih’s half-narrowed, deep-set eyes with a composed smile. "Brother Lih, indeed my phone got a virus. I only discovered it this morning."

Yun Lih glanced at Li Qiao flipping through the menu from the corner of his eye, tapped the ash off his cigarette, and looked towards Xia Siyu again. "Do you want Brother to buy you a phone? If it happens again, you’ll see if I don’t spank you."

Although he said that, he would never actually do anything to Xia Siyu.

Being the eldest among them, Yun Lih was restrained and polite in front of everyone else but Li Qiao, almost assuming the role of an elder.

So such statements sounded very familiar, but in fact... they carried a strong sense of distance.

Clutching her water glass, Xia Siyu said with a laugh that it wouldn’t happen again, but only she knew how much effort it took to keep herself composed in the face of Yun Lih’s emotionless gaze.

Twenty minutes later, all the dishes were served.

Yun Lih took a sip of beer from his glass, squinting at Li Qiao who was eating silently across from him. He tapped his glass on the table and rapped his knuckles on the surface. "Is the food really that delicious?"

Since she had walked in she hadn’t talked much, with most of the conversation being between him and Shen Qingye.

Chewing on her chopsticks, Li Qiao glanced at him. "How many days will you stay in the South Sea?"

Running his hand through his hair, Yun Lih leaned forward and raised his eyebrows in a counterquestion. "How many days do you want me to stay?"

Li Qiao looked indifferently towards Xia Siyu, who was incessantly gobbling down her food, then turned to Yun Lih. "When Xiaxia leaves, you should go together. It’s been a long time since you’ve seen each other, anyway, and you’re not short on a few days."

Without even looking at Xia Siyu, Yun Lih readily agreed upon hearing Li Qiao’s words. "Alright, I’ll do as you say."

Shen Qingye felt left out. "Then I’ll also do as you say."

Then, Li Qiao gave him a glance. "You do as you please."

Shen Qingye: "..."

Xia Siyu always felt that Li Qiao was intentionally arranging something, but her indifferent expression really did not reveal anything.

The few of them ate with their own thoughts, and Yun Lih suggested going for drinks next. The three people at the table immediately looked down in silence.

Yun Lih: "??"

Xia Siyu dared not drink heavily again; she feared that if she got drunk in front of Yun Lih, she might do something even more outrageous.

But unable to persuade Yun Lih, they still headed to the club they had visited the day before.

With Yun Lih and Shen Qingye around, the place could never be dull.

Li Qiao sat in the corner of the suite, constantly sending messages on her phone, while Xia Siyu cautiously sipped her beer from the can, terrified of getting drunk again.

Midway through, Xia Siyu slipped into the restroom, leaning against the door, patting her chest, and taking deep breaths.

The man she loved was so close, and the feelings she had suppressed for so many years were showing signs of erupting.

Xia Siyu didn’t know how long she had lingered in the washroom. It wasn’t until she had washed her face with cold water that she slowly opened the door.

When she looked up, she found her path blocked by a wall of people.

And so, Xia Siyu froze in place.

Outside the door was Yun Lih with one hand casually in his pocket, tall and handsome, a few stray locks of hair hanging before his forehead, swaying at his brow bone, and those eyes emitting a slightly intoxicated haze.

At twenty-nine, the man had shed the greenness of youth and had become stable and mature, which is when a man is most irresistible to women.

Xia Siyu felt she wasn’t drunk, yet she seemed to be drowning in his deep and piercing eyes.

Their eyes met, perhaps for only a second, but it felt unbearably long to her.

Yun Lih, of course, didn’t miss her hazy gaze. He arched his eyebrows and touched her forehead with the back of his hand, "Drank too much? Or feeling unwell?"

His warm fingers touched her forehead, sending Xia Siyu’s heart into complete disarray.

Her eyes were a little red as she looked at Yun Lih for a long while before snapping back to reality, stepping back to create a safe distance, "No, do you need to use the washroom?"

Yun Lih looked at her intensely, narrowing his eyes, "Are you sure you’re alright?"

Xia Siyu pursed her lips and, after composing herself, offered Yun Lih a polite smile, "Of course, thank you for your concern, Brother Lih."

Yun Lih tugged at his thin lips and glanced at her sideways, "Being so formal with me? You don’t even realize how fake your smile is."

A face plastered with a fake smile, Xia Siyu: "..."

She walked out of the washroom, and Yun Lih watched her receding figure before casually walking in to wash his hands.

When he came out again, the big screen in front of the private room had changed its tune at some point. It was no longer light music but a song called "Long Time No See."

Such a sentimental, soft tune made Yun Lih’s teeth hurt as soon as he heard it.

Sickeningly sweet, only the type little girls would enjoy.

"I come to, your city; I walk the path you’ve been on..."

The singer’s slightly hoarse voice sang of profound longing.

Seated in the corner of the sofa, Xia Siyu watched Yun Lih laughing and talking with Shen Qingye through the dim wall lamp, her gaze sticking to him.

She was the one who had chosen the song, for him to hear.

But the person in question was utterly oblivious.

Holding a pillow, Xia Siyu buried her face in it, hiding the wetness in the corners of her eyes.

In the midst of the song’s plaintive melody, suddenly a light voice came to her ear, "When did you start liking Yun Lih?"

Xia Siyu suddenly looked up to find Li Qiao holding a can of beer, tilting her head to look at her.

The words of denial hovered on her lips, but facing Li Qiao’s clear black and white eyes, she couldn’t utter a word.

"You... how did you figure it out?"

Li Qiao pointed to her eyes, "You think Yun Lih hasn’t noticed?"

Perhaps she was the only one who thought she had hidden it well.

But, when women face the men they like, the more they try to appear indifferent, the more deliberate they seem.

What kind of person was Xia Lao Wu? Both her coolness and her carefreeness were hers alone.

It’s a pity that in her attempt to conceal her feelings, she ended up exposing everything.

Xia Siyu was completely stunned because of Li Qiao’s words: You think Yun Lih hasn’t noticed?

So, did he notice something that made him come looking for her in the washroom?
