The Favored Heiress -
Chapter 354: Good Girl, One Last Time
Chapter 354: Chapter 354: Good Girl, One Last Time
The morning mist was sparse, and the old house was still immersed in a piece of quiet tranquility at five o’clock in the early morning.
The flowers nearby the private residence had bloomed, their dewy petals vivid and enticing.
In the master bedroom on the second floor, the curtains tightly blocked the first ray of dawn.
Li Qiao slept restlessly, the corners of her eyes red. She turned over and bumped into the man’s arms, her red lips muttering, "No more..."
After nearly a whole night of intense passion, she was exhausted, and he was satiated.
In her half-awake state, she seemed to hear a husky voice of temptation entering her ear, "Be good, one last time."
Li Qiao had heard this countless times last night, and it really had no credibility at all.
...
Time moved on to nine in the morning, Li Qiao slowly dressed and came downstairs.
When she woke up, Shang Yu wasn’t in the master bedroom.
The bed was a mess, and Li Qiao couldn’t bear to look at it.
She supported her waist with one hand and the wall with the other, occasionally letting out a ’hiss’ of pain.
How could this kind of thing be more exhausting than fighting?
Her waist ached, her back hurt, and her legs trembled as if she had suffered a stroke.
Li Qiao wiped her face and looked at her disobedient legs, shaking her head without expression and sighing.
As she passed the stairwell corner, still rubbing the small of her back, she looked up to see Shang Yu coming up the stairs looking fresh and bright.
Li Qiao rolled her throat, her gaze a bit airy, "Morning..."
Her voice was soft and husky, sounding very ’weak’.
Shang Yu slowed his pace and walked up to her, looking at her rubbing her waist, "Why did you get up?"
Li Qiao glanced at him coolly, "Hungry."
She had hardly eaten anything at last night’s family dinner, and then had been intimately involved all night.
This man, although he had drunk alcohol and was injured, seemed to have his physical strength completely unaffected.
Li Qiao cast a sidelong glance at him, her dark doe eyes brimming with a faint accusation.
Then, Shang Yu’s thin lips lifted slightly, he stepped closer, hooked her waist, and nibbled her ear, his tone ambiguous, "Mmm, indeed you worked hard last night."
Li Qiao’s ears reddened, and she was about to speak when she noticed several red marks on the side of his neck.
"What’s this?" She reached out to pull his collar aside, tilted her head to look, and there were clearly three marks on his wheat-colored skin.
They looked like scratches from nails.
Shang Yu followed her motion and tilted his head, pressing his handsome face closer, his voice teasing, "Don’t remember?"
Li Qiao blinked, gestured toward the downstairs with her lips, and forcefully changed the subject, "Let’s go, I’m hungry."
This topic couldn’t continue, or else it could ignite flames.
Shang Yu watched her continuous waist-rubbing, his eyes filled with amusement and concern. He embraced her a bit more firmly in his arms, his fingers lingering on Li Qiao’s cheek, "If you’re too tired, go lie down for a while, breakfast will be brought over soon."
Li Qiao leaned against his shoulder, looking at the man’s sharply defined jaw, and shook her head, "No need, it’s not that exaggerated."
Although that kind of thing was indeed physically and mentally draining, she wasn’t so tired as to keep lying down.
Shang Yu gazed at her deeply, the novice girl with unknowing charm in her brows and eyes, her gaze seemingly more sparkling and graceful than usual.
The man’s Adam’s apple slid, and his palm gently massaged her lower back, "It seems... the boyfriend still needs to work harder."
Li Qiao: "..."
Was he implying she should not get out of bed at all?
Li Qiao nudged him with her elbow, intending to exchange a few playful and teasing words, but suddenly a voice came from downstairs, "What are you two whispering about at the top of the stairs?"
It was Shang Zonghai’s voice.
Li Qiao’s eyes widened in surprise as she looked up at Shang Yu, "Uncle is here?"
"Yeah, just arrived. Shall we go down and greet him?" The man’s warm palm kneaded with just the right amount of pressure, which comforted Li Qiao quite a bit.
They had only officially become a couple last night, and now this morning Shang Zonghai had arrived.
Li Qiao felt somewhat embarrassed and pulled Shang Yu’s hand down from her lower back, cleared her throat and said, "Let’s go."
With an elder downstairs, it wouldn’t be right for her to hide upstairs and remain silent.
...
In the living room, Shang Zonghai sat on the sofa, knees bent, holding a cigar in his hand, puffing away contentedly.
When he saw the two people at the top of the staircase, a ripple appeared in the eyes hidden behind his glasses.
Li Qiao walked forward and called out, "Uncle," while Shang Zonghai looked at her with a kind smile, then pressed his fingertips to the sofa and said, "Sit."
Once they were seated, Shang Zonghai got straight to the point, "Girl, your uncle was a bit busy last night and didn’t have time to care for you. As the Clan Assembly has concluded this year for the Shang’s, what plans do you have for the future?"
Li Qiao nonchalantly glanced at the calm-faced Shang Yu, pondered for a moment, and then asked tactfully, "What kind of plans are you referring to, Uncle?"
Shang Zonghai let out a chuckle, his gaze shuttling back and forth between her and Shang Yu.
That made Li Qiao’s cheeks warm up, feeling as though he might have seen through something.
Shang Zonghai leaned forward and stubbed his cigar out in the ashtray.
As he did so, Li Qiao unexpectedly noticed a dark green cloth-covered square brocade box on the table.
Shang Zonghai tapped the brocade box and said, "Girl, inside this is the translation of the first twenty pages of ’The Autobiography of the Stock God,’ which I have translated. If you are ready, you can take the box back with you."
What if she wasn’t ready?
Li Qiao swallowed the question, not daring to ask it outright.
She looked at the cloth-covered brocade box calmly, pursed her lips, and nodded, "Thank you, Uncle, I will read it carefully when I get back."
At her response, Shang Zonghai smiled satisfactorily.
He pushed the brocade box across the coffee table toward Li Qiao and said again, with gravity, "I just asked Shaoyan, and he said that you two plan to return to the South Sea in the next few days. Therefore, I suggest you look at the contents of this box when you get back to the South Sea. Girl, you must remember that the doors of Parma are always open to you. No matter how you choose in the future, the Shang’s will always be your most solid support."
Li Qiao looked up at Shang Zonghai, her eyes flickering with gratitude and emotion as she nodded in thanks.
When she first met him, she thought Shang Zonghai was a cunning man with deep schemes and dared not take him lightly.
But this visit to Parma had made Li Qiao’s feelings towards him increasingly complex.
Shang Zonghai truly protected her at all times; as for the reason, she hoped the translation document might provide some answers.
...
About fifteen minutes later, Li Qiao went to the private dining restaurant to eat, while Shang Yu and Shang Zonghai went for a walk in the garden.
The sunlight was dazzling, and Shang Zonghai stood with his hands behind his back near the arch bridge, looking sideways at Shang Yu and said covertly, "Are you not being too hasty?"
At that moment, Shang Yu, with his hands in his pockets, leaned against the wooden railing of the arch bridge. He raised his thick eyebrows, locking eyes with Shang Zonghai, "Why would you say that, Elder?"
"Don’t play dumb with me," Shang Zonghai lowered his voice and narrowed his eyes at him, "It’s not that I disapprove of you two being together, but you haven’t given her a proper status yet. Doing this kind of thing now seems a bit premature."
