Chapter 297: Chapter 297: Elevator Wall Slam
Anyway, before he could finish explaining, they ended up kissing back and forth for quite a while.
Not until they pulled away from each other did Li Qiao finally catch her breath.
Shang Yu pressed his forehead against Li Qiao’s; they were so close, their breaths intertwined.
He looked at the girl’s swollen lips, swallowed, took a deep breath, and then, cradling the back of her head and burying it in his chest as they nestled on the sofa, said in a hoarse voice, "Sending Ou Bai to the British Imperial to shoot a film is protection, but it’s also punishment."
The candidness of the man’s words caused Li Qiao to curl her fingers. He was admitting that he was protecting Ou Bai?
Shang Yu looked down at Li Qiao, gently rubbing her forehead with his chin, "The protection I’m talking about isn’t about not giving your brother a chance.
In the South Sea, Ou Bai has the backing of the Ou Family and the Qiu Family, and I’m also in the South Sea. If something happens to Ou Bai, we can’t just ignore it."
The moment the words fell, Li Qiao abruptly lifted her head from his embrace, her eyes full of slyness.
Seeing that, Shang Yu pinched her cheek and tilted his lips, "Figured it out?"
Li Qiao’s eyes narrowed thoughtfully, she pulled down his fingers and held them, probing, "Did you do it on purpose?"
"Mhm." Shang Yu slowly lowered his head, his eyes gradually deepening, "How Ou Bai and your brother resolve their conflict is their business.
If your brother takes action in the South Sea, it will only lead to more problems.
Sending Ou Bai to the British Imperial, the only protection, is just to save his life."
Implicit in his words was that if Li San wanted to settle scores, the British Imperial was the best territory for it.
Li Qiao looked distantly at Shang Yu, and after a long time, she came back to reality and teased, "If Ou Bai knew what you were thinking, he probably wouldn’t go to the British Imperial at all."
"Whether he knows or not, he must go," the man said with an undeniable air of dominance, "if your brother causes trouble for him, at least Charles can save his life in the British Imperial. That’s enough."
At that moment, Li Qiao couldn’t help but admire Shang Yu’s thoughtfulness.
He placed Ou Bai outside the reach of family power and arranged for Charles to protect his life.
If Li San wanted to settle the score, he could go to the British Imperial to find Ou Bai; going one-on-one, Li San would probably be able to dominate him thoroughly.
Then, Shang Yu gently rubbed her cheek with his fingertip, his demeanor relaxed back to its usual casual and languid state, "Does this arrangement satisfy my girlfriend?"
Li Qiao blinked and slapped his hand away, "It’ll do, but how can you be so sure that Charles can definitely protect Ou Bai?"
Li San almost met his maker this time; without a doubt, he wouldn’t let Ou Bai off easily.
Upon hearing this, Shang Yu’s expression turned inscrutable as he curved his thin lips upward, "Don’t underestimate Charles. The British Imperial is his turf. To save Ou Bai from death is something he can still manage, and he might even play the role of a peacemaker."
It seemed fair.
The British Imperial was neutral ground for both parties, not escalating to family feuds or involving other powers.
It was just a matter between the two grown men, and how to solve it was up to them.
Understanding these interests, Li Qiao’s slight feelings of upset disappeared like smoke into the air.
Her fingers toyed with the buttons on Shang Yu’s shirt, and she looked at him with an almost smile, "Since my boyfriend has made all these arrangements, I’ll also mention it to my brother and tell him to spare his life when they come to blows."
Hopefully, Charles could mediate their animosity as Shang Yu had said.
A shallow smile spread across Shang Yu’s thin lips as he kissed her cheek. His eyes swept to the armrest on the side, motioning to Li Qiao with his gaze.
Seeing this, she arched her eyebrows, got up from his embrace, picked up the shirt bag, and presented it to him with a flourish, "Considering how hard you worked last night to coax me to sleep, I bought you a few shirts as a token of my gratitude."
Shang Yu looked at her intently, then his gaze fell upon the brand logo, his brows lifting slightly, "How did you know I only wear shirts of this brand?"
Li Qiao’s face showed surprise, a laugh in her eyes—she’d hit the mark by accident.
The man caught the fleeting astonishment in her eyes, reached out to take the bag, and narrowed his cool gaze, "You didn’t know?"
All the words had been spoken by him.
Li Qiao glanced at Shang Yu and pursed her lips in a nod, "Hmm, now I know."
With that, she gestured with her mouth towards the leather bag, "Do you want to try it on? The clerk recommended this size, but I don’t know if it fits."
Seeing her serious face, Shang Yu’s eyelids drooped slightly, his lips hooked in a barely-there smile. He sat on the couch, raised his right hand, and elegantly, casually began to undo his shirt buttons.
Li Qiao’s eyes widened—this was not what she meant.
In broad daylight, you’re trying on a shirt without going to the dressing room?
Li Qiao turned her head to glance aside but couldn’t help but continuously sneak peeks from the corner of her eyes.
The second one, the third one...
As he undid each button with one hand, more and more of his well-defined, honey-colored chest was exposed, and Li Qiao couldn’t look away.
But, after the third button was undone, Shang Yu stopped moving his hand.
Li Qiao frowned, her brain perhaps crashing. Without thinking, she blurted out, "Stuck?"
Shang Yu’s smile deepened. He looked down at his slightly opened shirt, slowly lifted his gaze, and his profound eyes surged with ripples.
Then, he stood up with a swing of his long legs, picked up a bag with one hand, and pulled Li Qiao upstairs.
"Hey? What are you doing?" Li Qiao was dragged by the wrist and whisked into the elevator around the corner in just a few steps.
The elevator doors closed, and before she could react, Shang Yu pinned her against the wall and kissed her fiercely.
Li Qiao’s chin was lifted by his firm grasp as she tilted her head back and bore his domineering kiss.
It was unclear how much time passed before they separated a safe distance. Li Qiao pushed against his shoulder with one hand, gasping for breath, her cheeks flushed a deep red.
Then, Shang Yu, holding the shirt in one hand and bracing the other against the wall near Li Qiao’s head, his hot breath on her forehead, uttered two words, "Open it."
"Hmm?" Li Qiao looked up in confusion, her eyes meeting the disheveled hair and half-unbuttoned shirt of the man cornering her, hinting at a wildness.
Especially the fiery light melting in his unfathomable eyes.
With their eyes locked, Li Qiao followed Shang Yu’s gaze as he lowered his handsome face, and she realized what his ’open it’ referred to.
Li Qiao’s fingers tightened on his shoulder, her face a picture of calm, but her heart was pounding erratically.
Shang Yu leaned forward again, the strong masculine scent enveloping them, his narrowed eyes filled with a mysterious glint, "Afraid?"
Provocation—useless.
Li Qiao’s eyes gradually lost their haze, she looked up at the man, smiled, and shook her head, "What’s there to be afraid of?"
As the words fell, she stared directly at Shang Yu, her right index finger hooked and flicked at the fourth button—popping it open effortlessly.
Then, with the same motion, she undid the last button of his shirt.
The sight of his perfect, sculpted abs came into view. Li Qiao hastily glanced, then raised her eyes again to look at Shang Yu.
