Chapter 291: Chapter 291: Coaxing the Girlfriend to Sleep

Chang Rong looked troubled as he pondered for a moment, then gave a vague answer, "The patient’s wound on the back of his head has been cleaned up, but the exact time he will regain consciousness depends on his recovery.

We just found out that the patient doesn’t seem to have received proper care before, there are signs of inflammation in the wound, though it’s not serious, so Miss doesn’t need to worry."

Hearing this, Li Qiao half-closed her eyes, her fingers curling up.

In the rest room, after a moment of silence, Li Qiao looking down at her fingertips, said in an even tone, "Please bother the director to repeat these words to the people outside."

Outside?

Chang Rong instinctively looked outside the door. Besides President Yun and President Yu, there was a particularly enchanting-looking woman.

He pondered for a moment, then lowered his head and replied, "Of course, Miss."

Chang Rong soon left the room and repeated his earlier words, Liuyun and Luoyu nodded, both their gazes unanimously turning across to the opposite side.

Nan Xin’s face was deathly pale, her expression dazed, her figure swayed and she hit the wall behind her.

There were signs of infection in the wound, and fragments still remaining in the brain.

No wonder he had been unconscious all this time; she really hadn’t taken good care of him.

Chang Rong, not fully understanding, greeted Liuyun before hurrying off to arrange the patient’s post-surgery matters.

This patient was personally brought to the hospital by Master Yan, and there was absolutely no room for negligence.

...

In the rest room, Li Qiao’s tense nerves finally relaxed.

She nestled beside the man, her eyebrows and eyes downcast, her listless posture somewhat defeated.

"Don’t you plan to go back and sleep?" Shang Yu looked sideways at Li Qiao, his fingertips lightly brushing over the rosy corner of her eye.

Li Qiao shook her head slightly, her voice low but with a hint of determination, "I want to wait until he wakes up."

The man’s deep-set eyes under his brows darkened, and he enveloped her shoulder with a couple of pats, "He could wake up at any moment, and you can come back anytime. Go back and sleep tonight, I’ll have Liuyun keep watch."

Li Qiao rested her head on his broad shoulders, shook her head in refusal, but even before she could speak, the man’s lips sealed hers.

All further words were swallowed, she had little strength to respond, only managing to tilt her head back to feel his dominance.

Later, Li Qiao felt dazed from the kissing, her mind foggy and her steps unsteady.

It wasn’t until she left the hospital and got in the car that she began to come back to her senses.

That night, Liuyun and Nan Xin stayed at the hospital, and Li Qiao was taken back to her dormitory.

...

In the quiet dormitory building, Shang Yu led the way with Li Qiao two steps behind. As they walked, the motion-sensor lights lit up one by one.

Upon entering, Li Qiao went to the bathroom. She scooped a handful of cool water and splashed it on her face, which cleared up her muddled thoughts quite a bit.

Leaning on the Glazed Pavilion with her hands, droplets of water slid down her delicate and fair jawline.

Looking at her exhausted reflection in the mirror, she tugged at the corner of her mouth, didn’t even bother to dry her face and walked out of the bathroom. She looked up, startled, "You haven’t left?"

In the living room, the bright lights were off, only the warm yellow light from the wall lamps around the chandelier was spreading its glow.

In front of her, Shang Yu sat lazily in the chair beside the floor-to-ceiling window, a few buttons undone on his shirt. The warm light fell upon him, casting his figure into a hazy yellow – like a famous painting nestled in the dark of night.

The man withdrew his gaze from the window, his profound eyes soft with warmth, and tilted his head towards the bed, "Go to sleep."

Li Qiao stood still, looking at him and then at the bed, "What about you?"

Shang Yu’s eyes lingered on her with a faint, intriguing smile. It wasn’t until Li Qiao’s gaze wavered that the man unfolded his legs and stood up, walking towards her, with a lifted corner in his lips, "To tuck my girlfriend into bed."
