Chapter 255: Chapter 255: Does She Think She’s Stupid?
Due to the slow speed at impact, only the bumper of the Mercedes-Benz was dented where the two cars collided.
Half a minute later, the driver came to Li Qiao’s window and said calmly, "Miss, it was my fault for changing lanes and causing the rear-end collision; I bear the main responsibility. How would you like to resolve this? Should we call the police first?"
"No need." Li Qiao didn’t want to waste time on such matters, so she slowly raised her window and prepared to leave.
But the driver was persistently unyielding and hurriedly reached out to block the window, saying with an embarrassed smile, "Miss, this isn’t quite right. After all, it’s a traffic accident. Why not let the traffic police handle it, or I can help you get the car repaired."
Li Qiao looked straight ahead, her hand resting on the steering wheel, and glanced through the ten-centimeter gap in the window at the other party, "What if I don’t?"
"Well..." The driver fell silent.
This rear-end collision was suspicious from the start.
She had accelerated, and the other vehicle suddenly changed lanes from the right rear. Under normal circumstances, a driver with even a little skill wouldn’t scrape the front car.
The middle-aged driver was wearing a uniform, and based on his reaction after the rear-end, he didn’t look like a novice.
And yet, he had made a mistake that not even a novice would, the intention was too obvious.
Li Qiao ignored him, raised the window, pressed the accelerator, and drove away.
She would investigate this incident, but not at this moment.
After the Mercedes-Benz G-Class left, the driver stood bewildered for a moment and hurriedly returned to the back seat, leaning in and saying, "Ma’am, she..."
The tinted window in the back seat slowly lowered, revealing cheeks that still held their allure.
The woman was in her early fifties, dressed in a cheongsam sitting elegantly on the seat, flipping through a magazine in her hand, "Are you sure it was her?"
"Yes. I made sure to look just now, and she’s the same person as in the photo Miss Shang Fu gave," the driver answered with utmost respect.
Hearing this, the lady closed her magazine unhurriedly, touched her pearl earring, and said, "Little Fu is becoming more and more disappointing. For such a trifling matter, I have to come out in person.
It was wasted effort sending her to the International Club. Where is she now?"
Checking his phone, the driver reported, "Miss’ GPS coordinates show she should have gone to South Sea Mountain."
"Humph, a woman’s kindness!" The lady scoffed, then tossed the magazine aside and languidly lifted her eyelashes, "Send a message to Yun Ling, as long as Shang Shaoyan doesn’t leave South Sea Mountain alive tonight, I will double his fee."
The driver was visibly shaken, stammering, "But...what about Miss Shang Fu..."
The beautiful woman casually curved her lips, saying indifferently, "If she wants to give Shaoyan a funeral, then let her."
...
Meanwhile, Li Qiao was racing toward South Sea Mountain. En route, her phone on the dashboard rang.
She didn’t plan to answer but noticed it was from Qiu Huan.
Li Qiao’s eyes flickered, she put on her Bluetooth headset, and answered, "Master Qiu."
On the other end of the line, Qiu Huan’s laid-back voice inquired with a laugh, "Little sis, are you in the lab?"
The car cabin was very quiet. Li Qiao raised an eyebrow and instead of answering asked, "What’s up?"
"Ah, nothing. I just wanted to pass on a message that Shaoyan went back to Parma. He’ll probably return in four or five days. Little sis, no need to thank me."
She hadn’t intended to thank him at all.
Li Qiao glanced at the time on the car display and, looking ahead with a prolonged gaze, pressed the accelerator harder and drew out her words, "Got it."
After hanging up the phone, Li Qiao continued to speed toward South Sea Mountain.
Everywhere, there were signs of something unusual. Did they think she was foolish?
At this moment, Qiu Huan stood on a wooden lookout tower near the South Sea Mansion, gripping his phone tightly, and turned to look at Wang Yue. With a cold and condensed expression, he asked, "What’s the situation over there?"
Wang Yue still held binoculars in his hand and pursed his lips with a sober expression, "We’ve received news that they’ve dispatched twenty First-Class Mercenaries from the International Club."
"Damn it, first class, twenty of them?" Qiu Huan couldn’t help but curse, his expression growing grimmer.
Twenty First-Class Mercenaries, they were clearly after Shaoyan’s life.
Wang Yue clenched his teeth, looking at the setting sun that was sinking westward, his gaze dark and chilling, "Not only that, but the mountain road on Duanpan Mountain has been blocked by the blasted mountain."
"Now there’s only Liuyun and Luoyu with the boss, the other six vehicles were separated by huge rocks, and there are snipers lurking in the surrounding woods."
Upon hearing this, Qiu Huan was infuriated, he clenched his fist and slammed down on the wooden railing, "What about Secret Hall? Have they made a move?"
Wang Yue shook his head, "Before the signal was jammed, the boss ordered me to stay at the mansion and wait for instructions.
As for the Secret Hall...you know, aside from the boss, no one can persuade them, so I have no idea what the Secret Hall might be doing right now."
...
Fifteen minutes later, Li Qiao drove into the South Sea Mountain area at high speed.
The daylight was fading, the sunset casting its last glimmers of light.
This section of the Mountain Road wound upwards, appearing no different from usual.
After driving for about five minutes, Li Qiao saw the blocked road ahead and slowly applied the brakes.
The entire two-lane road was completely blocked by countless large rocks, with a steep slope on the right that rivaled a cliff, and towering fractured mountains on the left.
At that moment, several vehicles were parked in front of the roadblock, and a few people were standing by, pointing and discussing the rocks.
Li Qiao rested her arm on the steering wheel, her body leaned slightly forward, she glanced a few times and soon recognized a familiar figure, it was unexpected to find Shang Fu here?
Something was definitely amiss!
Li Qiao pondered to herself, narrowing her eyes, she pulled out a gold Desert Eagle from the glove box and casually placed it at her lower back, adjusted her black casual suit jacket, and stepped out of the car.
As she drew closer, Li Qiao noticed that the rocks blocking the road were massive in size alone, making it impossible to move them by hand in a short time.
Li Qiao carefully examined the jagged surfaces of the rocks, uneven and accompanied by countless small stones scattered on the ground. The closer she got, the faint smell of gunpowder was still detectable.
Clearly, this was not a natural geological fracture.
At that point, Shang Fu’s peripheral vision flickered and she abruptly spotted Li Qiao’s figure.
She composed herself, a trace of scorn appearing on her beautiful cheeks as she crossed her arms and asked, "Little Sister Li, what are you doing here?"
Li Qiao acted as if she hadn’t heard, walking slowly near the broken rocks, looking around.
Seeing her silent, Shang Fu’s face grew colder; she turned and continued to converse softly with her companions.
The men accompanying Shang Fu were all utterly obedient to her.
During Shang Fu’s speech, their eyes almost glued to her.
After Li Qiao assessed the terrain, she turned to leave.
Seeing this, Shang Fu glanced at her and called out softly, "Wait a minute."
Li Qiao paused slowly, her voice particularly low, "Speak."
Facing Li Qiao’s indifferent attitude, Shang Fu’s expression darkened, and she approached, "You’re here for Shaoyan, aren’t you?"
"Elder Sister Shang, if you have something to say, just say it." Li Qiao neither confirmed nor denied, maintaining her cold and distant demeanor towards Shang Fu.
