Chapter 190: Chapter 190: The Giant Baby Li Shaoquan

Without delay, Li Qiao returned to her room, glanced out of the window, and walked slowly to the balcony to sit in the wicker chair and start daydreaming.

As dusk deepened, Li Qiao gazed into the starry night sky, lost in thought.

Cooling down and thinking carefully, the behavior of her parents just now seemed abnormal.

Something felt decidedly off.

Previously, her parents had always been secretive about her marriage, and even if they occasionally exhibited thought-provoking behavior, no obvious flaws could be found for the time being.

Now that the engagement was broken off, even if she had a boyfriend, it would be perfectly justifiable, but her parents’ reaction didn’t seem to be one of happiness on her behalf.

Li Qiao narrowed her eyes, her gaze flickering as she relentlessly revisited every scene from earlier.

She wondered if she had overlooked some significant detail.

Li Qiao withdrew her gaze from the twilight, her eyes tinged with confused annoyance.

Just then, the phone on the low table in front of her rang; the screen displayed the caller ID: Li Shaoquan.

Li Qiao furrowed her brows and suppressed her thoughts, answering the phone in an unhurried manner.

On the other side of the phone, Li Shaoquan’s voice brimmed with resentment, instantaneously reaching her: "Why are you ignoring me? I sent you so many WeChat messages, why didn’t you respond to me?"

His questioning tone seemed to carry a hint of self-pity.

Li Qiao unconsciously raised her eyebrows, now remembering.

After Li Shaoquan passed the hacker interview that day, he had been bombarding her with messages non-stop. Li Qiao, finding it annoying, had set his WeChat to Do Not Disturb.

Li Qiao pulled a wry smile, not offering an explanation, and asked calmly, "What do you want?"

"Can’t I call you if there’s nothing important?" Li Shaoquan’s voice, both grudging and asking for a slap, made Li Qiao feel that he might’ve become too full of himself after joining the hackers.

She, with little patience, furrowed her brows. "If there’s nothing, I’m hanging up."

Upon hearing this, Li Shaoquan suddenly stood up from the chair, "There is something, Dad, I have something. It’s just... can you accompany me back home this weekend?"

He hesitated and stuttered, taking a long time to complete his sentence.

Without a second thought, Li Qiao refused, "I’m not available."

"Ah?" Li Shaoquan let out a deflated cry and persisted in pleading, "Are you really not available? It won’t take too long, at most one hour, is that okay?"

Li Qiao remained silent, not saying a word.

On the other end of the line, Li Shaoquan began his monologue.

The central idea was that he hadn’t been home for so long and was worried that if he returned abruptly, he might end up with broken legs and be thrown out by his own father.

Li Qiao stayed quiet, offering no respone.

She had witnessed her second uncle’s temper; when he felt that Li Shaoquan was irresponsible and had no ambition, his disappointment in him was profound.

He had tried to persuade Li Shaoquan multiple times, but none of it could deter his determination to join the hackers.

Eventually, disillusioned, the second uncle threatened that if Li Shaoquan persisted in his ways, he would disown him.

And so, neither willing to budge, they had been at a stalemate for years, and in the blink of an eye, it had come to this day.

At this moment, Li Shaoquan, who had been waiting for a response from Li Qiao, asked tentatively, "Are you listening?"

Inside the soul of twenty-six-year-old Li Shaoquan, there might live a six-year-old child.

Li Qiao raised her hand to rub her forehead, she couldn’t just sit by and watch him actually get his legs broken by the second uncle and do nothing, right?

After all, he had been the ’son’ she had raised for so many years.

Li Qiao sighed, "Which day? What time?"

Li Shaoquan’s mood instantly soared, "Thank you, Dad, I knew you were the best! I’ll send you the details when I’ve arranged the time, remember to check WeChat, okay?"

He was simply a giant baby!

After hanging up the phone, Li Qiao looked at the screen and shook her head with resignation.
