Chapter 163: Chapter 163: Let’s Lean on a Bit Longer
Twenty minutes later, the firewall confrontation ended.
Two candidates were eliminated, leaving six to continue with the next operations.
Li Qiao nestled in the soft chair, her expression becoming weary.
The room was already dimly lit, and the constant flurry of various codes on the screen made her eyelids grow heavier.
Finally, she made it through the first round, and Li Qiao fell asleep leaning against the backrest of her chair.
"Boss, so what do we..."
Wang Yue didn’t notice Li Qiao, and as he was looking at the confrontation results coming from the red hackers, Li Shaoquan had made it into the second round.
But, before he could finish, he saw Shang Yu’s arm slightly lift, breaking him off.
Wang Yue pressed his lips together and said nothing, following the man’s gaze, oh, the ancestor had fallen asleep.
He stood silently in place, pointed at the screen, then pointed at the remote in his hand. Before he could get a response from the boss, he heard a dismissal, "Go out."
Wang Yue: "?"
After all, he was the head of the red hackers, the so-called Godfather of the group. At such a crucial moment in the candidates’ confrontation, he was being asked to leave?
Not one to give up easily, Wang Yue took a step forward, attempting one last struggle, but then...
Their boss looked languidly from the corner of his eyes, a cold gaze flashing from his eyes deep as the icy depths.
Wang Yue’s expression turned stiff, and he instinctively brought his legs together, gesturing with his thumb over his shoulder, then turned and walked out straight.
Reading the room was what he did best.
With no other choice, Wang Yue went to the next meeting room, reconnected all the synchronized devices, and sat alone in a room less than ten square meters, clutching his phone to watch the face-off.
It was actually quite good, very quiet, only the damn phone screen was too small, straining his eyes!
...
Li Qiao woke up two hours later.
She had slept soundly, with the only drawback being the chair wasn’t too comfortable.
Li Qiao stretched her brows and slowly opened her bleary eyes.
The first thing she saw was the dark projection wall in front of her, with codes still flashing rapidly.
However, the split-screen had gone from eight down to four.
Indeed, the other candidates had been eliminated.
Li Qiao tilted her head, looking for a few moments before feeling something was off.
What position was she in now?
With her head still tilted, Li Qiao let her gaze drop, first noticing a pair of shiny leather shoes, still bright even in the dim light.
Moving up, she saw the man’s legs stretched out in front of her, ankles crossed.
And her head was resting on the man’s shoulder, her forehead pressed against the skin of his neck, with his masculine scent flooding her senses.
Li Qiao didn’t move after her initial surprise but blinked and continued to observe Shang Yu’s posture.
He seemed quite relaxed, his elbow resting on the armrest, fingers interlaced resting in front of his stomach, breathing evenly as he watched the projection, seemingly unaware that she had woken up.
Li Qiao figured she might as well lean on him a while longer.
Then, she felt the trembling friction where their skin touched as the man turned his head, his chin brushing her nose, and he whispered, "Awake?"
Ah, discovered.
Li Qiao rubbed her nose with her fingers and slowly sat up from his shoulder, murmuring a muffled, "Mmm."
The movement caused the suit jacket draped over her to suddenly slide off.
No wonder all she could smell was his scent.
Li Qiao pulled the suit jacket back around her, nodding towards the projection on the wall, "How much longer until it ends?"
The man remained in the same position, turning to look at Li Qiao, shadows deep in his eyes, "About ten minutes or so, want to sleep some more?"
Li Qiao lazily shook her head, "No more sleep, hungry..."
