Chapter 160: Is She That Obedient?
Chapter 160: Chapter 160: Is She That Obedient?
At nine o’clock at night, a black Mercedes G-Class slowly stopped in the parking lot of the Affiliated Hospital.
Li Qiao, carrying a fruit basket, got out of the car and into the hospital lobby, where Fu Lvting, clad in a white lab coat, stood with hands in pockets, looking around.
Seeing Li Qiao, he quickly walked down the steps, "I’ve already informed the orthopedic inpatient department. However, visiting time can only be extended for half an hour."
Li Qiao glanced toward the direction of the inpatient department, "That’s enough."
"Come on, I’ll take you there."
As Fu Lvting walked, he cast sidelong glances at Li Qiao, feeling that her state wasn’t quite right tonight.
Although she was usually indifferent, such a cold expression was rare for her.
Orthopedic inpatient department, high-class VIP ward.
Outside in the hallway, Li Qiao, looking through the door’s window, spotted Uncle Zhong the Ninth lying on the bed, listening to a radio.
Although his right wrist was in a cast, he appeared to be quite at ease.
Fu Lvting, standing behind her, whispered, "I’ll wait for you at the nurse’s station. Call me if you need anything."
"Mm, thanks."
Fu Lvting took a deep look at the room number, then turned to go to the nurse’s station, planning to check the background of this patient.
It wasn’t long before Li Qiao pushed the door open and entered.
The high-class ward was well equipped. Other than Uncle Zhong the Ninth half-reclining in bed listening to the radio, there was a nursing assistant dozing off on the sofa.
Hearing the noise at the door, Uncle Zhong the Ninth opened his eyes, humming a tune, expecting a nurse’s routine check-up. But instead, seeing Li Qiao with a fruit basket and a solemn expression, he sighed, "Mo Qi, that damn kid, I’m going to dock his pay."
Li Qiao walked silently to the bedside, placed the fruit basket on the cabinet, pulled up a chair to sit down, and deftly took an apple out of the basket. Rummaging through the drawers, she then turned to the bewildered nursing assistant and asked, "Do you have a knife?"
The nursing assistant nodded repeatedly, "Yes, yes." He handed her a fruit knife and then left to fetch water.
This young lady, she was a bit frightening.
At that moment, Uncle Zhong the Ninth turned off the radio and stopped humming, looking askance at Li Qiao as she peeled the apple with the knife, "Got a vendetta against that apple?"
Was this girl doing it on purpose?
For a perfectly good apple, her single slice had not only removed the skin, but also a good portion of the flesh.
Li Qiao continued peeling the apple, her tone neither cold nor warm, "How did Teacher get injured?"
Uncle Zhong the Ninth looked at the ceiling, pretending to be sentimental, "Well, it’s just old age. Just by moving something lightly, I hurt my wrist. The doctor says I have osteoporosis and a calcium deficiency. Girl, don’t buy fruits next time, bring me some milk instead, I need to make up."
"Oh." Li Qiao handed the peeled apple to Uncle Zhong the Ninth and tossed the knife onto the cabinet, "Then can Teacher show me again how you managed to break your wrist by moving something?"
Uncle Zhong the Ninth, just about to bite into the apple: "..."
In the room, silence was so profound you could hear a pin drop.
Uncle Zhong the Ninth, holding the apple in his left hand, turned his gaze out the window, lost in thought for a moment: "Girl, it’s all in the past. I didn’t suffer much, you don’t need to fuss about it. Bumps and bruises are normal at my age."
"Alright. Then Teacher, you should rest. I’ll be leaving now." Li Qiao stood up and headed towards the door without looking back.
This time, Uncle Zhong the Ninth was dumbfounded, "Hey? Girl!"
Was she really so obedient? That didn’t seem right!
Uncle Zhong the Ninth called out to Li Qiao several more times, but she left him with nothing but a cold, indifferent silhouette.
He knew Li Qiao too well, fiercely protective.
But... she might not be a match for those people.
