Chapter 58: Cheon Areum can cook?

Cheon Areum dragged him to the closet, getting out an outfit for him. Yoon Seoyul dried his hair with a towel, facing away from him, as he stared at his broad back that somehow got vicious cuts and scratches despite him holding himself back. Lost in thought, Cheon Areum didn’t notice his own staring until Yoon Seoyul turned around. Without a word, he reached out, covered Cheon Areum’s eyes with the towel, and smoothly took the clothes from his hands.

"I’m not going to heal you."

"Okay."

"You deserve that much."

"Hmm."

Yoon Seoyul, unperturbed, quickly dressed himself and walked away to get his shirt and hoodie. Coming back with them, he held the shirt open and gently pulled it over his head, guiding his arms through the sleeves meticulously. Yoon Seoyul offered to drive him back, which Cheon Areum accepted in a split second.

"Is it okay to leave the bedroom in that state?"

He asked as the elevator descended.

"I’ll clean it later after dropping you off."

That seemed reasonable. Cheon Areum called Rian’s number a few times from the passenger seat, watching the screen light up and fade again in disappointment. No answer. Rian must be asleep. He stared at the silent screen for a few seconds longer before placing the phone face-down in his lap, deciding not to push it. If he wasn’t picking up, then it was better to let him rest.

"If I climb all these stairs in a minute, you’ll have to fulfill a wish of mine."

Cheon Areum proposed, standing before the stairs that led up to his apartment.

"..."

Not even entertaining him, Yoon Seoyul quietly swept him off the ground, with his arms supporting the other person’s back and legs in front of his own body. Cheon Areum found himself nestled in the curve of Yoon Seoyul’s arms like he weighed nothing at all. He pouted but didn’t retaliate. He was thinking of using that wish to move into Yoon Seoyul’s house, but now he’ll have to think of another way.

"Don’t do that."

"What?"

Suddenly, out of nowhere, Yoon Seoyul stopped mid-step and glared at him with a frown between his brows. Cheon Areum glared back with just as much tension.

What the heck is his problem?

Then, without a resolve or addressing the problem, he began to walk, tightening his grip on him. Cheon Areum expressionlessly stared at him as a black swirl of energy passed from his fingertips, healing the wounds covered by the clothes without a notice.

"Do you remember the passcode?"

"Of course I do."

*BEEP*

"You can’t remember numbers, can you?"

"No, I just pressed a wrong number by accident... put me down, I’ll get it right this time."

Cheon Areum hurriedly got down as Yoon Seoyul loosened his grip, but before he could try again, the door opened by itself.

"Hyung!"

Like a little koala, Rian clung tightly to his leg, wrapping both arms and one leg around him as if afraid he’d be pried off. Cheon Areum couldn’t help but smile at the sight, gently patting Rian’s sleep-tousled hair. Meanwhile, Rian peeked up at Yoon Seoyul from the corner of his eye.

"Were you sleeping, Rian?"

"Yes... but you didn’t come back home last night."

"It won’t happen again."

Yoon Seoyul spoke from the side as Cheon Areum lifted Rian into his arms, brushing the hair off his face.

"Hyung, when are we moving into his house?"

His hand paused for a moment, but he resumed, ignoring the question altogether. Cheon Areum silently prayed that Rian would drop the topic, which he did after getting a closer look at his face. A cute worry crossed his eyes that were surprised.

"How are you making him cry so much?"

Rian innocently asked, intrigued by Cheon Areum’s slightly swollen and red eyes. Yoon Seoyul, appearing distressed by the innocent question, glanced towards him, speaking in a low voice.

"That... it also won’t happen again."

Rian, not biting the bait, persistently spoke again with more curiosity.

"But how did you do it?"

Saving Yoon Seoyul, who had begun sweating, unable to answer immediately, Cheon Areum intermeddled.

"It’s a secret. I’ll tell you when you’re 100 years old."

Buying his nonsense, Rian nodded, quite convinced. Cheon Areum pulled the door, entering the apartment.

"Eat breakfast before leaving, Yoon Seoyul."

Cooperatively listening, Yoon Seoyul entered the apartment with them.

"Are you going to cook the breakfast?"

Rian, as unrestless as he was, didn’t last long in his arms. As soon as Cheon Areum let him go, Rian began running around the apartment, jumping from couch to the bed like a charged ball. Watching him cheerily, Cheon Areum took a seat at the dining table, belatedly responding to Yoon Seoyul, who sat opposite him.

"Yoon Seoyul. What makes you think I can cook?"

He spoke in a solemn tone. Genuinely, what had given him the idea that he could cook?

"You can’t cook?"

"When had you seen me cooking? I can’t bake, cook, or do anything like that."

Wait... can Lee Nari cook?

"Why’d you ask?"

"Doesn’t matter."

Yoon Seoyul rolled up his sleeves as he walked over to the refrigerator. Pulling open the door, he stood silently in front of the packed shelves, his gaze sweeping over the sea of readymade meals and half-eaten delivery containers. The cool air brushed against his face, but he didn’t move—just stared at the uninspiring contents as if willing something fresh to appear on its own.

"I can make us something simple... but I think we need to order groceries first."

Cheon Areum turned towards the kitchen.

"Our food will be here in the same time it’d take the groceries to get here."

He caught Rian, who flew from one room to another, still jumping holding Cheon Areum’s arms.

"Rian, what do you want to eat?"

"The sandwiches you used to make!"

"I used to make?"

"The cheese sandwiches!!"

Rian roared, the sound reverberating around the apartment. Cheon Areum wouldn’t be surprised if the landlord kicked them out someday, to be honest.
