Chapter 60: Chapter 59 - Supporting Character pt. 2

"Is she your new woman, Young Master?"

"What are you saying?"

"Ugh! I can’t help but admit my defeat."

Daria said in surrender while hugging her chest, but her gaze still sprayed the woman’s chest, as if the spirit of competition was burning in her soul.

As the tension rose between the woman and Daria, Greda finally appeared in the middle and cooled the atmosphere.

"She is former master Andrei’s future concubine, Rosalin." Nanny Greda introduced the woman.

The reason Daria did not recognize the woman was because she had been living in the Dreamhouse Brothel for the past two months. So, she sighed when she found out that the woman had nothing to do with Lev.

"I’m sorry if I presumptuously met you without making an appointment first. The reason I met you was to ask for permission to stay in this Razanov residence. If you wish, please allow me to stay here, Young Master."

She spoke while bowing her head.

Lev found it strange that the person who was supposed to be his stepmother was acting too polite towards him.

Although she could be said to be the person who almost became his stepmother, but on the other hand, it could be said that she was a stranger to Lev.

If she was a person with no manners, she would have acted as she pleased because Lev couldn’t see her, and didn’t even need to bow when asking for permission.

Nanny Greda then whispered in his ear.

A woman from among the common people.

A middle-aged woman.

She had once had a child and a husband but was now a widow and her child had somehow disappeared.

"...That is the summary of her background that I know, Young Master."

A middle-aged woman?

Lev was a little doubtful of that information. People who had reached middle age usually had wrinkles or fine lines around their eyes, but the skin around their eyes was still as smooth as a slide.

"What was her name again?"

"Rosalina... is there something wrong, Young Master?"

’Ah, now I remember.’ Lev’s eyebrows raised slightly as a flash of memory entered his mind.

As you already know, the main enemy of Hansen was the Nightfall Organization.

As the story progressed, Hansen became more and more famous as the Nightfall Organization’s main enemy because Hansen was often involved with the terror activities carried out by the Nightfall Organization—of course, Hansen became the hero who defeated Nightfall Organization members and saved ordinary citizens.

’An enemy’s enemy is a friend.’ The phrase Lev had in mind was a very apt one to describe Rosalin’s situation.

At some point in time, more precisely in the middle of the original story, a character named Rosalin appeared to Hansen.

Rosalin’s character in the original story was not included in Hansen’s harem. She was merely a supporting character.

Lev began to think about what information was contained in the Hero’s Destiny novel about a supporting character named Rosalin.

You might be wondering, wasn’t there only one person with the name Rosalin in the world? Many people share the same name, and that’s normal. On the other hand, Lev himself in his previous life had never met a supporting character named Rosalin. So, how could he be sure that the woman in front of him was Rosalin, the supporting character?

Despite the logic of denial above, Lev was convinced that the woman in front of him was the supporting character, Rosalin.

The reason? Of course, because the description of Rosalin’s physical characteristics was very similar to the physical characteristics of Rosalin the supporting character as he had read in the novel Hero’s Destiny.

However, the novel itself did not mention that she had been Andrei’s concubine. So it was natural for Lev to be surprised by this unexpected encounter.

Rosalin’s background was more or less the same as what Greda had told him.

A widow who had lost her husband and children... more or less. But it’s not that simple—it’s not entirely accurate. According to Greda, Rosalin’s husband and child were dead—her husband was indeed dead, but not her child.

Rosalin’s son was actually alive and had joined the Nightfall Organization.

Lev remembered the scene he had read in the past. Rosalin had been stabbed by her own son’s sword and was in a dying state. Nearing her last breath while lying on the ground, Rosalin told Hansen all about her past experiences.

"...Do not let my son commit more sins. I failed to stop him, but I hope you can fulfill my last wish!" Those were the last words out of Rosalin’s mouth to Hansen.

After telling Hansen about her past, she ended up dying—just like the supporting characters in most stories.

After hearing Rosalin’s story, Hansen’s motivation to burn down the Nightfall Organization became even more intense—perhaps that was the point of Rosalin appearing in the middle of the story despite dying quickly.

From the story Rosalin told Hansen, it could be concluded that Rosalin’s goal in life was to find and kill her own son and destroy the Nightfall Organization.

In the original story, Rosalin herself was mentioned as daring to do anything in order to destroy the Nightfall Organization.

’For now, it seems that her focus is not on destroying the Nightfall Organization, but on finding clues about the whereabouts of the original members of the Nightfall Organization.’

However, Lev did not expect that she would willingly become Andrei’s concubine in order to find clues about the Nightfall Organization members.

When Rosalin met Hansen in the original story, the focus of Rosalin’s activities was not looking for members of the Nightfall Organization, but eliminating every member of the Nightfall Organization because she had already knew who the members of the Nightfall Organization were.

It’s likely that at this point in time, Rosalin still doesn’t know who the members of the Nightfall Organization are, so she is desperate to become Andrei’s concubine in order to get a clue about the whereabouts of the members of the Nightfall Organization.

As you already know, Andrei was connected to the Nightfall Organization in carrying out his illegal activities. If Lev had to guess, she might have smelled the connection between Andrei and the real members of the Nightfall Organization—the nightfangs.

Suddenly, a useless question popped into Lev’s head.

How long had Rosalin been Andrei’s concubine in her previous life?

Was Rosalin desperate to give her body to Andrei?

The last question was, was she only Andrei’s concubine, or was she also became the concubine of others?

He didn’t know the answers to these useless questions because it was only mentioned that Rosalin was willing to do anything to avenge the Nightfall Organization.

Regardless of what Rosalin’s past was like—her future that was yet to come—Lev thought that the phrase he had previously thought suitable to describe the relationship between Rosalin and Hansen would be suitable for him and Rosalin as well.

"What are you going to do about her, Young Master?" Greda asked Lev. Perhaps she saw Lev just standing there for a long time, so Greda reluctantly pulled Lev’s shirt down a little. "Should I expel her?"

Such words came out of Greda’s mouth even though she knew her voice would be heard by Rosalin.

It seemed that Greda himself was not happy with Rosalin’s presence.

Daria’s eyes still held a wary gaze.

Meanwhile, on the other side was Rosalin who was paying close attention.

Most of the time, the gaze shown by Rosalin was an expectant one, but through his sharpened senses, Lev knew that she sometimes showed a look of intimidation.

’What a bad acting.’ Lev slightly raised the corners of his lips at how Rosalin was trying so hard to act. ’Should I give her private acting lessons?!’ Okay, that was a pretty stupid thought.

"Let her stay here." Lev finally stated his decision.

"Are you sure, Young Master?"

"Besides, this residence became very quiet after the servants and maids left. It’s fine to add one more person. Let her choose the room she likes. There are many rooms that are already empty anyway."

"...Then, is there no problem even if it is Madam Irini’s former private room?"

"Yes, no problem."

After hearing Lev’s decision, Greda looked surprised, Daria looked angry, and Lev could see a relieved smile from behind the veil covering Rosalin’s face.

Probably, because the Razanov residence had been under close surveillance by the palace for the past two months, Rosalin could not investigate this residence and was forced to wait outside.

Lev actually wanted to have a private chat with Rosalin in a private room, but he realized that this was not the right time.

He could only say a few words to Rosalin as he walked past her, "I’ll give you the information you want later." He spoke quietly next to Rosalin’s body.

Rosalin’s eyes narrowed and a frown formed on her forehead when she heard Lev’s whisper. However, that kind of wary response was all she could do. It seemed like she realized that she could not forcefully stop Lev’s steps to ask for an explanation.

After that, Lev went out to meet the palace messenger, boarded a horse-drawn carriage, and traveled to the palace.
