The Epic Tale of Chaos vs Order
Chapter 1698: Black Sand

Chapter 1698: Black Sand

The Prima Deities of the underworld excelled at hiding, expertly covering all traces of their identities and actions. Although Archdeities from Divine Calamity Heaven or Divine Sea Heaven possessed more than sufficient power to track them down if they desired, neither faction bothered.

There were numerous practical reasons behind this choice, but the most important was political flexibility. The underworld Prima Deities were unique; they had no firm allegiance binding them permanently to any particular organization or continent.

If pressured too greatly, they could easily switch sides, becoming assets to the enemy overnight. Ultimately, it was far simpler—and safer—to leave them alone, at least for the time being.

Among the shadowy powers lurking beneath the Endlessdeath Continent’s surface, the most fearsome was known as Death Sand, a clandestine organization controlled by a mysterious figure named Black Sand.

Whether Black Sand was male or female, human or something else entirely, remained unknown, but one truth was universally acknowledged: Black Sand possessed terrifying power.

Fewer than ten thousand years ago, a Lord-Tier Organization called Golden Horn had foolishly declared war against Death Sand. Without warning, their ruler perished overnight, and the entire organization was swiftly buried beneath an endless ocean of sand. Since that brutal example, none had dared provoke Death Sand again—until today.

In a distant, desolate region of the Endlessdeath Continent stretched an enormous desert composed entirely of glittering golden sand. Its vastness defied imagination; even the eyes of Prima Deities failed to glimpse its boundaries once inside.

This barren place was utterly devoid of life—no Divine Beasts roamed here, and even Divine Cultivators stayed far away, deterred by chilling rumors that none who entered ever returned alive. Yet today, that tranquility would shatter.

“ZNNNNNNNNNNNN!”

An earsplitting roar suddenly echoed from the sky above, shattering the oppressive silence. Its source was a humanoid meteor streaking through the atmosphere, plummeting downward with overwhelming force.

The figure wielded a massive halberd, its sharp blade gleaming ominously. With incredible power, the descending figure struck the desert’s surface, generating an explosion of scorching flames that surged outward, incinerating everything within thousands of kilometers.

This attacker was none other than Cain.

An assault of such magnitude on a seemingly lifeless expanse of sand appeared senseless at first glance. However, in the next moment, the seemingly inert desert trembled violently, as if experiencing unbearable agony.

Cain observed impassively as the desert sand began rising unnaturally, coalescing and condensing into a colossal humanoid figure. This being seemed forged entirely from solid stone, earth, and sand, his body covered in layers of rugged, shifting rock plates that grated and ground together with every movement.

Ancient runes and sacred patterns adorned his immense arms and chest, glowing faintly with powerful energy. His form, far from smooth, was rugged and battle-worn, bearing countless scars accumulated across eons of battle.

His face, though carved from rough stone, emanated the fierce dignity and wisdom of an elder lord. Deep-set eyes radiated intense judgment, framed by a mane of coarse mineral strands and a thick, flowing beard of white sand that cascaded over his broad chest.

Cain’s eyes narrowed sharply as he scrutinized this formidable figure. Thoughts rapidly filled his mind.

“He has achieved an extraordinary body transformation. Flesh and blood have given way completely to stone and sand, turning him into an embodiment of earth itself. This transformation might come with drawbacks, but it certainly grants him immense endurance and nearly unmatched survivability.”

Cain quickly dispelled his thoughts, adopting instead a cold, ruthless smile, his eyes igniting with scarlet flames as he spoke, his voice echoing mockingly across the devastated sands:

“It took me nearly three months to find you, Black Sand. I must say, your moniker is rather misleading.”

The sand-and-stone being known as Black Sand stared back fiercely at Cain, rage burning visibly within his deep-set eyes. Yet despite the devastating wounds inflicted by Cain’s initial attack, he managed to maintain his composure, responding carefully:

“You belong to Divine Calamity Heaven’s forces. I bear no ill will toward your faction, nor will I interfere with your conquest of the Endlessdeath Continent. Why are you attacking me?”

Cain’s eyes narrowed thoughtfully upon hearing those words. Swiftly analyzing the meaning behind them, he began deciphering the kind of man that Black Sand truly was. Without betraying his internal analysis, Cain answered coldly, his voice filled with calculated menace.

“I came here under orders from Divine Calamity to test you—to assess if you’re worthy of recruitment. Now, let us begin!”

Before Black Sand could respond, Cain vanished in a burst of storm-like speed, his figure becoming a blur as crimson flames erupted violently around the Shooting Star Dragon Halberd.

The weapon devoured surrounding energy hungrily, magnifying its destructive power as Cain instantly closed the distance.

Black Sand’s eyes widened in shock; he barely had time to react. Gritting his teeth, he swiftly clasped his massive hands together, summoning immense dunes of sand that rapidly formed a formidable defensive barrier.

But Cain’s gaze remained icy, his Primordial Eyes glowing fiercely. They effortlessly pinpointed flaws within the hastily formed sand shield. With ruthless precision, he struck the weakest point directly, instantly shattering it in a spectacular explosion, and surged forward without losing any momentum.

Black Sand reeled from the terrifying assault, forced to hastily concentrate his Star Power into his right arm. Roaring fiercely, he launched a counterstrike with all his might.

“BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMM!”

A deafening collision erupted across the desert as Black Sand’s stone fist and Cain’s halberd met with cataclysmic force. The tremendous impact sent Black Sand flying backward uncontrollably through the air.

Before he could regain control, Cain once again appeared above him, his relentless attack escalating as flames surged around him, growing ever more ferocious and devouring the earth with unprecedented intensity.

The overwhelming ferocity behind Cain’s attacks had only intensified, each blow fiercer and more ruthless than the last.

Cain’s cold, predatory smile widened as he continued pressing forward, utterly relentless and killing might. Each strike pushed Black Sand closer to collapse.
