Chapter 206: Chapter 206: The Hero Seizes Wealth and Beauty (6)_1

Pei Qin had just turned around when she was startled.

Old Father Kong’s eastern room was rented to a pair of master and servant, said to be a young master who had gone blind and his servant.

Pei Qin had indeed seen the light in their room, smelled the scent of frying medicine, and heard the sound of a medicine bowl being knocked over. After several days of living there, she had yet to see the real person.

She didn’t expect to encounter them today.

A boy about fourteen or fifteen years old, with delicate and flawless features, was exceptionally beautiful. Only, his face was thin and pale, and his beautiful eyes were clouded. His hair was somewhat disheveled, and the cotton robe on his frail body seemed a bit too loose, instantly destroying the aesthetic.

Pei Qin stared at him, but the boy walked straight into the kitchen and collided with it.

With a loud thud and a clanging sound, Pei Qin’s face changed, and she hurriedly ran towards the kitchen, "Fuck! Are you blind not just in the eyes, but in the mind too?!"

A batch of freshly cooked sugar-coated peanuts that had been left to cool was now scattered all over the floor. The boy had fallen on top of the sugar-coated peanuts.

Pei Qin quickly went over and lifted the boy up by the hand.

Pei Yuan hurried over from the west wing, seeing her holding the boy, and said anxiously, "Eldest sister! He is blind!" implying that Pei Qin should not hit him.

Pei Qian’s face was already darkening as she ran over to salvage the sugar-coated peanuts off the ground.

Pei Qin wasn’t really trying to hit anyone. She had been inexplicably robbed of ten taels of silver, toiling day in and day out frying peanuts in hopes of making some extra money, only to have this blind boy spill the whole batch of sugar-coated peanuts.

Having picked up the boy, she tossed him aside, then went to rescue the sugar-coated peanuts on the ground. Just as she turned around, someone grabbed her arm.

"I am blind! You tell me, how can I make my heart see?!" A hoarse voice, filled with despair and deep resentment.

Pei Qin was stunned for a moment, then turned to look at him.

Since he had gone blind, no one had ever said such words to him, piercing deeply into his heart, "You tell me, how can the heart see?! You tell me!"

Pei Qin’s arm was sore from his grip. She raised an eyebrow and said, "Just live on shamelessly, and good things are bound to happen!" She had made it through all the mess, "It’s just blindness! It’s not like it can’t be cured!"

But it wasn’t just his eyes that were blind, his heart had gone blind too! Completely blind!

Pei Qin grabbed a handful of sugar-coated peanuts, roughly stuffed them into his mouth, and ordered, "Tell your servant to come back and compensate me for the peanuts!"

The sweet taste of the peanuts suddenly filled his mouth, and Mo Heng stood there somewhat dazed.

The three of them were busy for half the day, sorting and picking up the sugar-coated peanuts from the ground. Those that were clean could still be sold, but those that had touched the ground could only be eaten by themselves.

Seeing him still standing there, Pei Qin said irritably, "What are you still standing there for? Trying to be a Narcissus?"

Mo Heng remained standing, his mouth bulging with sugar-coated peanuts.

Pei Qin rolled her eyes, "The door is right there, where there’s light, wind, and sound. If you’re looking for the privy, it’s even simpler — it’s got a big smell to it!"

Mo Heng was astonished. Light? Wind? Sound? Smell?

Pei Qin impatiently pushed him into the courtyard. So good-looking yet so useless, he was like an embroidered pillow! She turned back to tidy up the sugar-coated peanuts. This batch couldn’t be sent to the county town; they would have to be wrapped in parchment paper and sold at a discount in the town instead. More would have to be fried for delivery to the Ju Xian Building and Moon Restaurant.

Pei Yuan sighed. Fortunately, only a bucket had been spilled. She started to clean the pot. Pei Qian cast a sidelong glance at Mo Heng, her little face sour as she went to fetch the sugar and carried over the peanuts.

As Mo Heng listened to the sound of peanuts being fried again from the kitchen, he reached out, trying to find his way back to his room on his own. He needed to drink medicine every day, and there was a distinct scent of medicinal herbs in his room.
