" Come with you, you say?" Bree honestly did not want to go anywhere with Yakov, this grandmaster who came up with the plan of killing her and then chucking her body somewhere around the coastline of the Empire. She was worried that if she was to set off somewhere with him alone again, maybe his mood might change and she might find herself transmigrated all over again, that sort of experience —— starting from the scratch that was, she didn’t want to experience again no matter how novel it was and having died once it would be kinda nice for her to live a full life this time around.

Yakov could sense that Bree was hesitating, maybe it was due to the secret that she found about him being the mastermind of the plot of ’killing’ her or maybe it was just because she didn’t trust him, in fact even he didn’t trust himself with Bree alone in the middle of the night. Only he alone knew how hard it has been for him to just look and do nothing, it has been days... no, months exactly since he had her in his arms the last time, actually scratch that, he wasn’t this eager to hold her when she stared at him with that cold face of hers, looking down at him as if she was letting him cash a favour every time he held her but now it was a bit different, she was a lot more approachable.

And those expressions of hers, they were too adorable for him to ignore, like right now, did she even know herself that those reptilian eyes of hers were filled with tentative hesitation? Causing them to look so adorable as if she has just broken out of a shell or something. She was even biting her bottom lips, God was she seriously that oblivious of her actions around him because if she was, then it was even more torturous—— innocence was the best form of seduction and honestly, he was finding her more and more sensual.

Because there was something thrilling about ruining that untainted innocence of hers, he didn’t know why exactly he was finding her of all people innocent but he was there was a sudden naive air about her something that he couldn’t understand why he was only seeing it now.

Her scent was killing him, when he came to find out she was her mate, mating with her was done out of instinct... it wasn’t pleasurable just an act of responsibility that they both had to do for their Empire hoping they would get an heir so that the rest of the Empire too can have children. Maddening because he couldn’t have her at the moment and annoying because he couldn’t believe that he was actually really interested in her.

As his eyes grazed over that red lips which have been chewed upon and had to clench his fists to stop himself from blurting out, ’I can do the biting for you’, he wished he could say it but he couldn’t not when she was so much on guard with him.

Yakov might have not been really good with what everyone will say ’being romantic’ or ’sensitive’ but he did know that if she were to say something like that to Bree right now then she will definitely fly away from his grip once again and hide, something that he did not want to do.

Like his father said, if you want to chase down your prey, you need to perambulate, prowl and carefully circle around it before leaping. If it skittishly shies away from you—- stop and if it faces your eyes head-on, lunge.

At this moment there was more to what Bree showed him but he did know that if he was to follow his urge and lunged, then he will be ruining everything for himself. So, he plastered a shallow smile and said, " That’s right your majesty. If you do not leave for Duke Cilantro’s territory with me, then I am afraid the old ministers will join hands together and look for a way to mass bully you, you know how those old men are—— they believe that they can get away with everything that they do, I do think you need to rein in them a little but the thing is that right now they have their hands around the royal family because of this big slip up, if we don’t make a show of dealing with Duke Cilantro and his atrocities that I am afraid that the ministers will create another ruckus in the court. Do you want to deal with it?"

No, she didn’t. Earlier this morning when she dealt with those officials, she knew that they were deliberately trying to find faults with her so that they can push their own personal vendettas ahead in the Royal court, if she didn’t do anything about it then she will have to take care of those ministers and their atrocious demands something that she didn’t want to do. Though the Royal family have a huge budget it was still limited to a certain extent, and after the splurging of the Dragon Queen, her father and their forefather, the Royal treasury was nowhere as grand as it was once.

" I get it," she said after considering the entire situation carefully, no matter how she tried to look at it, Yakov’s suggestion was the only one she could follow at the moment. If she stayed here, confined in the walls of her palace, those old ministers will just chew her brain up until she could no longer take it and fire them all like a tyrant boss—— No, it was better to go and take care of the mess that Duke Cilantro made first so that she will have a logical base for firing those old men, like it’s because you didn’t trust your leader, so get out!
