Ahmar was stopped out of the palace in a good mood, though he couldn’t say that the Queen was getting sweet on him, he could at least say that she was getting a bit soft on him. Even though it might be due to self-blame, guilt or pity, Ahmar was going to take it—— after all, it was better than her ignoring him as if he didn’t even exist, maybe it was able to do a good job this time around, then she will praise him even more? Just the thought of his mate being sweet towards him was enough to make his lips curl into a sly smile.

But this sly smile didn’t stay for long when he bumped into someone just as he was walking out of the Dragon Palace. As a blob of silver hair knocked into him, Ahmar sucked in a breath and calmed himself down before he took a step back and looked at Harley with a stoic expression and asked as politely as he could, " Harley, what are you doing here?"

If not for her interrupting in between maybe that day his situation wouldn’t have become so worse, the Queen was angry but she might have listened to his reason if he tried to explain it to her but before he could even plead guilty Harley stepped forward and ruined his plans with a bam! She didn’t even give him a chance to fight back and created a mess of the situation that he could have solved much more easily without her trying to interfere in it.

He would be lying if he wasn’t annoyed by her actions, it was true that he liked smart women but it was also true that he hated the overly smart woman who thought that they can fool everyone.

Harley raised her head and immediately Ahmar felt his forehead scrunch up because her irises were no longer the same as before they seemed to be changing in colour, like at this moment they were a mix of blue and pink creating a beautiful hue—— beautiful enough to suck him in, he breathed in and looked away before closing his eyes and clenching his fists. This cannot be happening, there was no way he was going to be enchanted by someone other than his mate.

Yes, though he didn’t know what Harley did to get her eyes like that, he would not let her affect him.

" I —- I was coming to see you, second consort," Ahmar felt his eyes shiver, though Harley’s voice was still the same as ever, the timbre of it seemed to have changed, it was as if she has drank the blood of a Siren and added an allure to her voice, it was that charming. If not for him using all his rationality to stop himself, he might have really done something that he shouldn’t have.

" Coming to see me?" It took a lot of cool breaths for Ahmar to calm down as he turned to look at Harley every time, her eyes flickered and turned red or pink, reeling him in, he would remind himself of the shy face that Bree has shown him at the night and all the adoration that he was feeling for Harley would be suppressed.

Harley nodded with her hands clasped in front of her and her cheeks turning red, she whispered, " I was really worried about you,——" she looked around and when she saw there was no one else other than the two of them, she stepped forward boldly. " Ahmar, I really, really wanted to save you from that prison but I didn’t have the strength or power to do so, the guards wouldn’t even let me in... that was why I couldn’t come to see you."

It really didn’t matter to Ahmar that Harley didn’t come to see him and that was why he didn’t even think about her not when Bree was with him all the time. And now that Harley was acting as if they were some sort of lovers who were separated by an Evil monster, he couldn’t help but be secretly annoyed with her a little, he heaved a breath and tried to rationalise his thoughts, he would have left without saying anything but something seemed to be stopping him.

It was as if two hands were pressing down at his shoulders and his feet seemed to have been jammed on the ground. Ahmar never thought much about this before but now that he was feeling like this again, he couldn’t help but look at Harley with a scrutinising gaze—— how can she have this effect on him? He knew that he didn’t love her much less like her, the only relationship they had was her wanting to get used and him using her to irk the Queen other than that, he didn’t think there were any other emotions that he had for her, so why was it that despite sensing no magic, he wasn’t able to move?

" Are you upset with me?" When he didn’t respond Harley stepped even closer and shyly reached out her hand and clasped his wrist. " I am sorry, Ahmar...I should have known better, you have no idea how scared I was when I heard that you fainted after coming out of the black tower. I rushed to see you but the Dragon Queen was there and I ... I didn’t dare to make trouble for you anymore."

’Move! Freaking Move! Move you, idiot! Damn it!’ The closer Harley got to him the more Ahmar felt like he was being held tight by some magical binds, his body wanted to move, hell even his heart wanted to move but his mind seemed to have frozen, he couldn’t do anything against the hold that was holding him down. And as Harley got close to him —— a big man of six feet, stockier and burlier than her could only watch her get near him.

His hands did move and nor did his mouth, and what was worse, he seemed to be getting under a daze, a voice was telling him to let her do what she wanted and even when he tried to fight it, he couldn’t.

" But now that I have seen you, I am so glad.. so glad that all I want is to kiss you, Ahmar," Harley got on her tippy toes as she cupped his face and brushed his lips with the pad of her thumb. " I missed you Ahmar, and you missed me too right?"

’ No, I didn’t! I didn’t miss you!’ roared Ahmar in his head but the words that came out of his mouth were —- " Yes, I missed you too."

Harley giggled sweetly as she leaned in close until her lips were brushing against his. " Then come and kiss me."
