The Dragon Queen and her mates.
Chapter 53: A warmth that he never imagined before.

Chapter 53: A warmth that he never imagined before.

" She is your mate, my lord." Xander looked at Bree who was soundly asleep and then looked back at his master in confusion. Normally, his master would be planning this and that even thinking of breaking his arm or leg all because he wanted the Queen to come and see him but now that she was here, his master was asking why she was here? But his confusion only stayed for a short time before he rushed to his master and placed his hand on top of Ahmar’s forehead. " Master are you sick, no that’s not possible, a vampire can’t get sick.. don’t tell me." A gasp. " You lost your memories, oh dear that’s not good is it?"

Ahmar breathed in and breathed out but even then he was so annoyed by his aide’s stupidity that he nearly broke his fangs by grounding them. He slapped Xander’s hand away and growled, " I know she is, thank you very much and I haven’t lost my memories at all. That’s the reason why I am asking you what she is doing here, do you think our relationship is that good that she will be here, sitting next to me worrying about how I am feeling?"

" But that’s exactly what happened, my lord."

" Exactly, it isn’t so——" Ahmar paused as he looked at Xander with his mouth open. " Wait what did you just say? What happened?"

" The Queen was worried about you," repeated Xander worried that his master couldn’t hear what he was talking about. " She was the one who sent Lord Kevin to get you out because as the Queen, the protocols state that she has to send a written application to the council of ministers before she can take a step inside the Dark tower and since she didn’t have the time to do so, she sent someone who has just as much pride as hers, she might have sent the first consort to get you out but then I think she did not want to embarrass you so she sent Lord Kevin who knows you better."

While Xander was standing outside the room when Bree was giving Ahmar his medicine, he talked a little with Kevin and found out that it was Bree who sent him to the Dark Tower, at first he didn’t believe it but after seeing the worry and care that the Queen has shown towards his master he couldn’t help but trust on the words that Kevin has told him.

The Queen was indeed anxious about his master, and she really didn’t have any idea that his master would be treated as such after being sent there. Most probably she thought that with his status, the reapers would leave him be and she would be able to scare his master away as well—— which was stupid, considering his master’s beast was practically obsessed with his mate.

Ahmar stared at Xander and then he poked his pinky in his ears before he said, " Can you repeat that, Xander?"

Xander did as he was asked and Ahmar’s frown deepened even further, as he pointed to himself and asked, " She was worried about me?"

" That’s right, master," Xander affirmed with a nod.

And Ahmar looked at Bree who was still leaning on his right shoulder and then turned his head to look at Xander with one of his fingers raised, " If this is a joke——"

" Then it’s my head and your hands master, you can decapitate me if a thing I say turns out to be a lie," then to prove his point, he pointed to Bree’s hand and said, " See that master, her majesty even gave her blood to make an antidote for you."

Ahmar turned his head to look at the hand that was lightly wrapped up with a bandage and then looked at Bree whose face was free of all the scowls that she shot him when she was awake before he slowly asked, " You mean to say that she gave me her blood to save me?"

" That’s right, my lord," said Xander with a grin as he looked at his master who looked awed, confused but at the same time excited like he has made some sort of exciting discovery. He hasn’t seen his master this happy even when he discovered Oxnite and turned that worthless ore into something more promising. " The basilisk poison only has two antidotes, one the blood of a dragon and another one is tears of Phoenix, our empire currently has no phoenix thus, it was the Queen who saved you, my lord."

Ahmar stared at Bree for a long time before he turned to Xander and asked once again in confirmation, " You... You are not lying are you?" He knew just how loyal Xander was, what if he was lying to make him happy because he was hurt?

Xander looked at his master with disbelief written all over his face, " My lord, if I was lying—- then what is the Queen doing here?"

He knew that his aide was right but the fact that Bree was actually worried about him was something that he could never believe, it was like asking for the moon and getting his hands on it. After all, no one better than him knew just how much Bree hated his existence... she was the Queen ... the dominant dragon shifter... the mother of all dragons and who was he?

A mixed vampire with omega blood running in his veins. In fact, it was better to say that Bree didn’t dislike his existence, she saw it as a stain.

With his hands clasped in his lap, Ahmar tried to stomach all the information that Xander has given him. Bree was really worried about him? Him?

He raised his head and with a perfect impression of his beast he looked at Xander and asked in a low voice, " Really?"

" Really, my lord...why are you questioning it so much? You should be overjoyed that your prayers didn’t go unanswered by the Goddess," said Xander with a slight curl of his lips but inwardly he knew that the reason his master was so stunned was that he knew that he was least liked by the Queen. Now to tell him that the Queen was worried for him —- it was like giving an abandoned child all the warmth that he couldn’t even imagine.
