Chapter 28: If I tug a bit more, will it slip off your body?

" How dare you!" Bree snapped as she eyed the black sword that Ahmar was holding in his hand and looked at him with an unforgiving expression. " How dare you summon your weapon in the presence of the Queen? I can throw you in the prison for this crime that you have committed!"

Ahmar didn’t look at all concerned with her threat and simply fixed his gaze on Dion and replied, " There is indeed a law that says that I can’t summon my weapon in your presence, my Queen but there is a special privilege that allows me to summon it, have you forgotten about it?"

Bree has indeed forgotten about it but when Ahmar reminded her, she recalled what he was talking about and her brows scrunched up as she looked at him in disbelief before drawing her breath. " The privilege only allows you in case of any threats!"

" Exactly my point!" shot back Ahmar, his blood-red eyes still locked on Dion who started to sweat under the murderous glare but because his Queen’s loyal aide, so he didn’t dare to take his arm out of her grip.

" Dion is not a threat!" snapped Bree looking at Ahmar like she couldn’t believe what he was saying.

Ahmar smiled at her with a defiant glint in his eyes. " To me, he is one," he said with his voice that dropped another pitch. "Are you going to let go or should I?" He raised his sword and Bree let go of Dion’s arm.

Dion who was finally granted amnesty from the quarrel of this husband and wife pair inwardly heaved a sigh of relief. Today he was going to go home and have his father call the lawyer of their family, he ...he ...really needed to prepare his will..... right now, he really thought that he was going to lose his arm.

" Drop your sword," said Bree as she glared at Ahmar. " Drop it now."

Ahmar glanced at her before the sword in his hand vanished and he raised his hands. " No need to be this upset, look I did what you asked."

Bree knew that he was just toying with her, if he wanted, he could have ignored her order and would have done what he wanted anyway. But he was making it look like she was the one in charge here, she unsheathed her claws without meaning to and Ahmar’s gaze dropped at those sharp claws before he smirked, " Are you going to kill me, dear wife?"

It was fascinating how subtly he reminded her of their relationship.

Sensing that it would only bring harm to Dion if the rumour of her harming her mate and husband for an aide were to leak out, so she sheathed her claws and raise her chin as she looked at Ahmar. " If this was the only thing that you wanted to say then, I——-"

" Leave." Without letting her finish, he turned to Dion and ordered like he had the rights to —— no, wait. He wasn’t just the strongest Knight and General of the army but also her second consort, he did have the right to dismiss her aide as he wished.

But that didn’t mean that Bree was going to let him do that, as Dion raised his leg to retreat, she glanced at him and ordered, " You are my aide, I do not wish for you to leave. Stand where you are."

It wasn’t that she wanted to make things difficult for him, but she didn’t want to be left alone with Ahmar who was no less crazy than others. Though he didn’t have the habit of beating around the bush and was a lot straightforward.

Ahmar raised his brow and stepped a bit more closer to her as he peered down at her with a smile. " You don’t want to anger me more than you have."

His voice was calm but the threat was there, Bree narrowed her eyes as her gaze flickered to Xander who was standing behind Ahmar and said, " Your aide is standing right behind you, so why is it that only my mate has to leave?"

Xander who was dragged without doing anything: "...." Sob, I did not even raise my head, Queen!

Ahmar looked at Xander whose head was still lowered and snapped his fingers. A second later Bree watched Xander dissolve into a hundred of small bats and vanish from the spot he was standing, if she wasn’t playing the role of the Dragon Queen she was sure that her mouth would have dropped.

So the myth was true? But why a hundred bats and not a single bat?

Ahmar must have not liked her looking at the spot where Xander was standing a second ago because he snapped his fingers in front of her eyes and with a hitched brow, he said, " There you go, my aide is gone, now it’s time for yours to leave."

He tipped his chin at Dion who was standing next to her with a polite smile even though he was being glared at and being treated like he was an annoying pest.

Bree knew that Ahmar wouldn’t let her leave with Dion and if she pushed him too far he would simply attack Dion as he threatened her.

She turned to Dion and nodded her head with an exasperated sigh. " You can leave, Dion."

Dion acknowledged her order with a small bow, he did the same to Ahmar before he retreated at an incredibly fast pace.

Once he was gone, Bree turned her head and looked at Ahmar. " What is it? What do you have to say to me that you had to send my aide away?"

Ahmar swooped down and leaned in closer, startled Bree retreated a few steps but then he hooked his arm around her neck and twisted his fingers in the knot of her dress and muttered, "that’s what I want to ask you, what are you wearing exactly?" He tugged at the knot that was holding her dress in place and with a curious expression added, " If I tug a little more, it will slip off your body wouldn’t it?"
