Bree pursed her lips and tried to suppress the heat that was rising in her cheeks and cleared her throat before saying, " Anyway, I came here to talk to you about Cordelia, not how you generally mess around with the three consorts. So, you don’t have to worry about anything."

Cian stared at her as if trying to look whether or not she was making fun of him but when he saw nothing but sincerity in her eyes. He straightened up before bracing his elbows on his thighs and clenched his hands together. " All right what is this about? You can tell me I am going to listen carefully this time."

" It might sound odd to you but you might have heard about the orcs’ territory right?" When Cian nodded, Bree continued, " Anyway the leader of the orcs asked me to help him clean his territory by sending a nymph but apparently nymphs cannot use their powers without Cordelia permitting them to do so, that’s why I went to ask her, she agreed but in return, she asked me to send you to her place, according to her, she wants to talk about something to you."

Cian didn’t say anything causing Bree to lean forward a little as she asked. " Do you really have no idea what she wants to say to you?"

He shook his head again and Bree almost narrowed her eyes as she studied his expression but there was nothing that she was able to detect from his face. Honestly, she wasn’t surprised given that Cian could hide his darkest thoughts under the most beautiful smile—— Harley often called him a sun because of his sunny boy-like smile, little did she know that this sunny boy of her could be worse than a hell-raiser.

" All right then," without touching the glass of brandy in front of her, Bree stood up from her seat. " If that’s the case then I hope you will see Cordelia by tomorrow afternoon, and if possible get her to agree, if you don’t want to do that, then there is no need to see her tomorrow afternoon, it’s not like I do not have any other options than summoning a nymph."

There were many mages who were spirits summoner, if she tried hard she will be able to find someone who had a water spirit with them.

"Wait a minute!" Seeing that she has gotten up from the seat, Cian scrambled to his feet as he looked at the Queen who was all set to go out of the room. " You are leaving just like that?"

Bree frowned. " What do you mean by just like that?"

" I mean you aren’t going to scold me or tell me off for leaving the palace in the middle of the night without taking an army of knights with me? Aren’t you going to chide me for being too lacking the grace and elegance of a noble?"

" No, I won’t," answered Bree after she realised what was happening, Cian must have been lectured by the previous queen after being caught. Which was why he was prepared to listen to another lecture, but now that he wasn’t subjected to any criticisms, he must have been too surprised, since it wasn’t in line with the character of the old Queen.

Stupefied Cian just gaped at her. " W..What? Why?" He demanded looking rather upset, what did she mean by this? Was she trying to say that no matter what he did from now, he will not be able to attract her attention? Is that what she was saying?

" What do you mean by why?" said Bree looking quite confused by his actions. " Do you want a lecture?"

" Of course not!"

" Then what’s the problem?"

The problem was that you are not looking at me! Cian roared in his heart, his siren fluffing up his feathers a bit upset by the blow that his pride received upon seeing that his mate wasn’t even worried about him in the least. If she wasn’t upset with his stunts then how will he get her to look at him?

" Aren’t you going to ask where I was? What I was doing? How I got this injury?"

Bree could feel that Cian’s eyes were locked on her but he wasn’t ogling her, no he was watching her with a desperation that she has never seen in him. He was studying her expression and she didn’t know what he saw because the next second his eyes turned and a serious expression befall on his face. " You...You don’t care, right? You don’t care whether I live or die right?"

" I never said that did I?" said Bree with her brows scrunched up. " I asked where you were but you didn’t answer, so I didn’t pry now that I am not asking anymore, you are still upset with it? What do you want me to do?"

Muscles bunching and rippling, he stalked towards her with a predatory gaze, Saphira who was lying lazily inside her peered opened one eye as she looked at the chicken that was trying to be more than what it was worth it but then as Cian’s eyes flashed beast upon realising that he was being looked down. Both Saphira and Bree felt a delicious warmth bloom in their stomach.

Fine, even if they hated to admit it—— Cian’s looks were really delicious enough to send shivers down women’s spines.

" Do you really not know or you are playing with me?" asked Cian with all seriousness and no bullshit.

" I am not playing with you." She answered ignoring the way Cian has dipped his voice low making it sound like as if liquid sex was dripping out of his voice and sinking into her skin. " You can do whatever you want, I won’t stop you— Hey!" She shouted the last words when she felt Cian raise his hand and grip her arm in a tight grip.

" Let me be very clear about something, your majesty," said Cian in a dangerously low voice. " I don’t know what’s going on in your head, I will not ask either but don’t you look at me like I don’t mean a damn to you. The consequences of such a gaze won’t be nice."
