Chapter 356: Decision To Make

Chapter 356: Decision To Make

"What would you have done in my position?" Rama sighed out devastatingly.

"I can’t say, Your Highness, because I don’t feel what you feel for her, so the decision is yours to make." Zoya implied.

"There are only two sides to the choice I have, it’s either I plunge this kingdom into chaos because I want to protect her or live in undying regret because I condemned her to her death, based on the future." Rama remarked, her tone heavy with despair.

"Perhaps then, it’s best to live as if you know nothing of the future, then you wouldn’t really blame yourself for the choice you had no control over." Zoya said with a faint smile, her grey eyes holding insurmountable amount of knowledge as they gazed upon her.

"Only if I hadn’t already gained knowledge of the future, then it would have been as easy as the words spouting out of your lips." Rama said with a regretful look.

"It’s up to you, whatever you desire." Zoya said.

"Do you have the knowledge of everything that will transpire in the future?" Rama queried, her eyes glinting with curiosity.

"The future is shaped by the choice you make, so unless you’ve made a choice or an action is taken in the present, the future remains shrouded in uncertainty." Zoya stated.

Rama nodded thoughtfully "So how did you know I would birth the darkling prince?"

"Because a sacrifice was made, earning the path for his birth." Zoya explained straightforwardly, but still her words all seemed like a puzzle to her.

"What do you mean, by a sacrifice? What sacrifice?" Rama asked, emphasizing on her words with a firm tone, her sharp eyes keenly fixated on Zoya with a skeptical look.

"When sacrifices are made and deals are sealed, it’s something a diviner can sense, but unfortunately, I have no idea what it is." Zoya said casually, her tepid countenance never giving out any sort of emotion.

"Perhaps, it has something to do with Malika." Rama muttered under her breath, as her jade eyes narrowed while she pressed subtle thoughts on it.

"Perhaps, perhaps not." Zoya murmured.

"I also have one more thing to ask of you." Rama said hastily, while Zoya kept silent as she listened.

"Is there any possibility, in even the slightest that we could find a cure for Malika and maybe, expel the dark entities from her body?" Rama asked, hope and anxiousness clouding her eyes.

"Expelling the sorcery out of her will lead to her death, but at least she would die without being a puppet to dark forces, she’ll have peace in death." Zoya immediately said, crushing every grain of hope she had.

Rama swallowed hard as she clutched on her skirts tightly "So there isn’t a way?"

"The only reason she’s alive is because of the forces living inside her, once it’s expelled out, her physical form will go back to it’s original state, which is death." Zoya explained further, her impassive grey eyes retained a flicker of emotion and apology, seeing Rama slowly ridden of her hope.

"We won’t know unless we try to find a remedy for this, one that would expel the entities and at the same time, make her live without them." Rama declared, her voice breaking slightly.

"You clearly have no idea how magic works, this isn’t just magic, this is dark, forbidden sorcery and her body is already a vessel. It’s been connected to her physical form and her source of life is now the dark force living within her. Expelling it out will result to her death and moreover, it’s impossible to expel it out, it either kills her or it finds a new source of vessel to feed on." Zoya clarified, trying hard to make Rama see reason in her words.

"So there’s nothing I can do for her, but watch her die for the second time?" Rama queried rhetorically, muttering to herself.

"And that too, because of lord Zamiel’s desperation, which I do not blame him of course, but he needs to brace himself for her death again, it’s going to be very agonizing." Zoya mumbled out aloud.

"Is that a vision too? She’ll die again?" Rama asked, her words uncertain as if she didn’t want to hear the answer, because inwardly her instincts told her what it could be.

"I haven’t seen a revelation of her death." Zoya said and as Rama sighed in relief, she added "Yet."

"Be straightforward, when you look into her future, what awaits her?" Rama asked in desperation, brows creased in eagerness.

"Enough actions haven’t been carried out neither the choices, so I can’t delved deeper into her future yet. Mind you, my visions don’t come when I tell them to come, they come casually, either giving me a hint of what is to come or revealing something significant, like the birth of your darkling prince." Zoya pointed out.

"You want to serve me and gain my loyalty, know there’s no going back from this oath and if you betray my trust, also know that I’m very well capable of cleaning up my own problems, I don’t need Draco to do it for me." Rama warned, her crimson bleeding into her jade eyes for a millisecond before it returned to normal.

"Your Highness, I’ll forever be loyal to you, whatever you need, ask of me and I’ll do it." Zoya swore with a fierce determination in her eyes as she bowed deeply.

Rama needed to be certain she could fully trust Zoya, perhaps not fully trust but at least, count on Zoya’s loyalty, but she wasn’t gullible, she would keep her eyes on her, made sure she was reliable, after all, in the life of courts and royalty, friends could easily turn out to be foes.

"Then you’ll inform me of every single vision you have, no matter how useless you think they are, if I could gain some insights into your knowledge of the future, then maybe I could be able to find a way to beat fate and help Malika, after all, her future hasn’t been decided yet." Rama said with certainty, perhaps if she played her cards right, she could save Malika and cheat death once again.

She couldn’t endure the thought of giving up just because it appeared as if they had no chance to win, she was more determined than ever. She could still vividly remember her gruesome death on that uncanny night, the image never left her head, and she felt responsible, obliged to protect her no matter the price to pay.

She couldn’t watch her die for the second time while she watched helpless and powerless, the thought of that happening, made her sufficed with an unfathomable kind of rage, rage that drove her to the edge. If only the poor girl hadn’t been thrown into her dark world with her, then she wouldn’t have had to suffer as much because of her.

"Hope is a dangerous thing, I’d advice you not to keep it, you’re hopeful about a lot of things and it can destroy you." Zoya suddenly spoke, her eyes swirling with a dark truth, one Rama didn’t want to accept.

Rama sighed in exasperation as she brushes her hair backward "That is the only thing I have left, it’s what keeps my drive to overcome and persevere even in the face of trials, if I had no hope, I wouldn’t try so hard at anything, I’d just let it be."

"The harder you try, the shallower your failure becomes, I know because the universe does not care for how hard you work, what you love or who you are, it just takes you unaware or vulnerable and plunges you in utter failure or success and there’s nothing you can do about it." Zoya intoned, her grey eyes burning with the truth.

"Draco and Malika are my hope, they’re the only things I cling to and the reason I fight, if I lost them, I’d lose myself and my fight, but for now, I still have fights left for as long as they live. I won’t give up on Malika, as long as she’s alive, I’ll find a way." Rama said firmly, her resolve never unwavering in the slightest.

"Just like you hope for a happy ending with Draco, but it won’t come, there’s never a happy ending for lost causes, but I guess you can keep your hope, at least you have something worth fighting for, until it breaks you, destroys your soul." Zoya uttered without filter in her words, speaking on things as she saw it.

"Are you a diviner witch or a pessimistic witch, because I find it hard to believe that you’re not the latter." Rama remarked.

"I speak the truth, but of course, the truth hurts more than you expect." Zoya said with a shrug.

"Well, speaking of which, I need you to research on whatever it is you can find or learn about whatever relic, magic or sorcery that can expel the dark forces from Malika without killing her, take your time but not too long." Rama said immediately, switching to a serious tone.

"I’ll bring back news within two days, but may I warn you, don’t be too hopeful about the outcome, it’s best to stay neutral." Zoya remarked.

"Right, I’ll be entirely hopeless, but don’t be useless, find me something worthy, please." Rama said, her voice filled with desperation.

"I will, excpect me in two weeks." Zoya said and Rama nodded, but then as if realizing what she had said, her eyes widened in shock.

"Two weeks?" Rama shrieked.

"Yes, we’re looking for a cure to expel out the entities, it won’t be an easy feat. Trust me." Zoya explained and Rama sighed.

"Fine, I’ll be expecting you in two weeks, with results, be safe." Rama said.

"I’ll be leaving now, your Highness." Zoya said as she bowed, while Rama watched her retreating figure.
