The Devil's Warrior Queen -
Chapter 354: Reunion III
Chapter 354: Reunion III
Rama’s eyes widened with pure astonishment when Draco announced that Malika had woken up. After finally regaining her memories, she had been praying and waiting for Malika to finally wake up from the clutches of death.
Her heart throbbed with happiness as a smile grazed her lips, her eyes blurred with tears as she rushed to the door, but then she halted for a moment as she suddenly veered around to face him "Wait! How did you know?"
"I sensed it, she’s seeping darkness into every corner of the castle." He remarked.
"I don’t understand, what do you mean?" She queried, her eyes dilating with suspicion.
He sighed softly before leaning back on the table as he took a handkerchief, cleaning the smear of paint from his hands.
"Malika wasn’t the only one that resurrected from the dead." He intoned, peering his eyes at her from beneath his dark lashes.
"If you’d be so kind to elaborate, what did you do to her?" Rama questioned with a fierce tone, her eyes hardening as she gave him a skeptical glance.
"Not me, it was Zamiel and yes, I did warn him but the lad wouldn’t listen, not very much especially when it concerned his mate." Draco said with a wary look in his eyes.
"What did Zamiel do?" She asked immediately, her patience waning in eagerness to learn the truth.
"You remember the vessel we retrieved from the Blackthorne kingdom?" He pointed out.
She gasped when she realized the precarious situation, her awakening was no celebration, it was either a death sentence for her in the near future or chaos upon the world.
She had witnessed how the dark entities from within the vessel had destroyed Thallasa, the dark queen because her physical form was not powerful enough to possess them, her mind wreaked with havoc when she realized that the same gruesome fate could meet Malika.
"No, he wouldn’t do that, he knows the consequences, he’s very well aware she could die, why would he do that?" She panicked as she shook her head in denial.
How on earth had Zamiel become so reckless as to not think twice over his decision? It was a thought she couldn’t comprehend.
"He’s more aware than you, but when you lose your mate, every thought of rationality and reason ceases to exist, you can’t blame him." Draco reasoned out, although his face was grim, indicating that he didn’t like the situation any more than she did.
"He used her body as a vessel, no matter how desperate he was, he should have thought about how it would affect her, either by death or..."
"Or as a living tool to evoke chaos upon the world." Draco interrupted.
But before she could speak again, he said "But it will be wise to examine her before coming to a conclusion, that’s if she’s not already wreaking havoc as we speak right now." He said sarcastically.
"And if she is, what will you do?" Rama asked hesitantly, even though she could already see the answers gleaming fiercely in his eyes.
"She’ll have to be gotten rid of, Rama. That thing is no longer Malika." He said in a logical sense.
"We haven’t examined her yet, lets not be hasty to come to a conclusion." Rama said hurriedly, swallowing back her fear. She didn’t want to lose her for the second time, not after getting her back.
"Fine, lets see her first." Draco said as they exited the painting room, while he led the way to where Malika was.
Finally, they reached Zamiel’s chamber situated at the lone corridor and as Rama proceeded to knock, Draco swung the door open, barging into the room.
Rama’s breath hitched as she emerged into the room to see the lone figure facing the window, her back turned to them, while her golden locks sprawled behind her.
"Malika?" Rama called as she moved closer to the figure, her voice a shallow whisper under her breath as she called out her name.
For a moment, everything stood frozen until Malika slowly turned around to face them, her beautiful, radiant features coming to the light, every inch of her as the same as it had been.
An affectionate smile crossed her lips as she called out "Rama..."
Tears glimmered in both of their eyes and as Rama proceeded to move closer to her, Draco put his arm forward, acting as a barrier between them, making her halt in her footsteps as she looked at him confused.
"I can feel the dark sorcery pouring out of her essence like a fucking dam, it’s best to be careful. Dark entities feeds on pain, blood and fear, I wouldn’t be surprised if she tried to rip your heart out." Draco intoned, his eyes squinting at her.
"Zamiel told me about the forbidden sorcery, but I would never try to harm her, I promise." Malika said, her voice breaking with guilt.
In the middle of the discussion, Zamiel emerged into the room.
"Great that you’re here, how long did you plan on keeping your little demon from my sight?" Draco queried with a dark smirk.
"I was just about to inform you but as you can see, she’s perfectly fine." Zamiel said as he walked toward Malika, standing beside her protectively.
"Right, so we’ll just ignore the fact that she wreaks of the dark entities feeding on her. I can smell them off her without even taking a whiff." Draco pointed out, his eyes hardened and the air around them turned heavier with the intensity of his menacing aura.
"As long as it survives, she survives, but she hasn’t done anything to pique your interest or presence, you can leave." Zamiel said with a grave tone, his eyes as cold as glaciers.
"Did you tell her that her body is used as a fucking vessel for dark entities to survive and feed on?" Draco implied as his gaze abruptly dropped on her.
"What? You told me I was resurrected from the use of forbidden sorcery." Malika said, her face masking horror and betrayal.
"That was only half of the truth, you’re a vessel now, for dark entities to live and use, that is until your physical form withers away, so as long as it stays, it drains your energy and life core until you die." Draco said, leaving her petrified.
"That’s enough." Zamiel’s voice boomed and her shoulders slumped weakly at the disclosed truth to her knowledge.
"She deserves to know the truth, you’ve taken enough from her already, the least you can give her or it is the truth." Draco emphasized as his eyes narrowed to her.
"So I’ll die eventually..." She whispered, but rather than being disheartened at the news, she was neutral.
"That’s not true, don’t listen to any of the nonsense he spouts, you won’t die." Zamiel said confidently.
"We both witnessed what it did to Thallasa despite how powerful she was, who’s to say she won’t meet the same fate sooner or later?" Draco pointed out.
"It’s been a day already and she’s been perfectly fine." Zamiel argued, his crimson eyes glaring hot daggers at Draco who was unwilling to let them be.
"Is that so? Malika, could you wield your powers and illuminate the room for a second?" Draco queried with a sarcastic smirk tugging his lips up.
Everyone’s gaze fell on her, while she swallowed hesitantly "I-I can’t. My powers are gone." She confessed, biting down on her lower lip.
"Very soon, your powers won’t be the only thing it will consume, it could consume you too until there’s no Malika left and when that time comes when you start inducing chaos, I’ll be the one to end it." Draco said casually, no hint of menace or peril in his facade, but it only concealed the pressuring danger beneath his words.
"But she’s fine, at least for now, so there’s no need for threats or warnings." Rama stated.
"And how are you certain that she’s fine?" Draco asked with a skeptical look.
"Because I know Malika more than anyone else and that’s who I’m seeing right now, it’s Malika not a dark entity." Rama intoned and without waiting for his reply, she shoved his arm aside as she approached Malika.
Without warning, she wraps her arms around the girl, taking her into her warm embrace. As she hugged her, she felt her hesitant hands wrap around her too, while she sobs softly.
"I missed you." Rama whispered as she stroked her hair reminiscingly.
"I miss you too." Malika says with a small voice that threatened to break under the pressure of her torrential emotions.
"I’m so sorry I couldn’t protect you, it’s all my fault you died." Rama whispered, her sobs turning heavy as she recalled the vivid images of her death that still stung painfully.
"It’s not your fault or anyone else’s, we were at war with the devil, tragedy was bound to happen, but we’re all here now." Malika said with a smile as she buried her face in her hair.
As the two of them finally reunited, both Zamiel and Draco exited the room, giving them some moment for their reunion.
