The Devil's Warrior Queen -
Chapter 324: Dangerous Obsession
Chapter 324: Dangerous Obsession
"Let’s take a bath and have breakfast." Draco suggested as he hurriedly climbed off the bed, one second longer beside her with their naked bodies brushing and her rosy scent wafting into his nostrils was sure to provoke his inner beast that was now struggling to lay dormant.
He withstood the primal impulse to make love to her every chance he got, despite her acknowledgment of his sincere feelings, he still felt the responsibility to control himself around her, though it wasn’t an easy feat especially since she was his demon mate.
And it seemed as much as he tried to resist his bestial instincts, she was rather not trying at all to resist, she didn’t mind but he did. It was more than him being just uncontrollably attracted to her body, their souls were linked together in a profound connection that surpassed the mortal understanding and their hearts were entwined with the inevitable seal of destiny.
She followed after him, clutching the sheets around her chest as they entered the bathroom, while he walked around nude, but she couldn’t manage to keep her eyes off his beautiful physique, while memorizing every ridge of muscle carved into him like a flawless work of art.
As she walked behind him, her eyes took in the graceful, mouth watering sight of his broad, muscular back. He wasn’t a bulky man, he was lean and muscular, toned with the perfect amount of muscles that couldn’t be too much or too little, he was perfect to a fault.
The hard ridges of muscles carved in his back flexed with a vigorous air of power as he moved, like a panther gliding over water. She undeniably felt the urge to run her fingers through his back and feel the elastic hardness of his broad back pressed against her fingertips.
But then, it wasn’t just the muscles adorning his back that left her mesmerized, it was the insanely unique masterpiece of an art that shrouded every inch of his pale skin. Black ink was etched into every single inch of his flesh, leaving not a hint of white alive.
The art of a dragon cascading from his shoulder blades down to his waist line left her gasping in awe, it seemed too realistic of an art, as if it was almost coming alive. The fiery golden eyes and the bared jagged fangs exposed made a chill skitter down her spine in both fascination and fear.
She had noticed earlier that slits of black from the dragon tattoo reached the corner of his midriff, every stroke and line drawn with potent power pulsating within them, she couldn’t help but wonder who the incredibly talented artist was and if it had been painful.
Reaching the bathroom, he glided into the tub, big enough to fit five persons with space still left. She stood still for a while as she watched him dip his head in and out of the water, pushing his wet hair back from his face like the majestic being that he was.
Meanwhile, she just watched, jaw dropped and utterly awe stricken. It felt so unhealthy to be that obsessed to him, he was dangerous, she was well aware of it, even his lineage screamed danger and warnings, but they all turned null to her.
As much as she would love to avoid danger, she couldn’t avoid him even though every inch of him screamed menace, as she had always told herself, it wasn’t her fault but nature’s fault for making him her mate.
She felt so allured to this dangerous beauty and it didn’t help one bit that he was dangerously obsessed with her and maybe, she was starting to like it there, no, she liked being beside him, he filled the void of emptiness in her soul and he made her feel whole again, yes, physically, emotionally and mentally.
The fact that he was right about what he had told her earlier made her breath hitch, because truly she was forgetting about his flaws and accepting him for who he was, flaws or not, arrogant or not, reckless or not, ruthless or not, her heart still skipped a thousand beats around him.
"Aren’t you coming in?" His voice boomed across the washroom, making her jolt out of her thoughts.
"Uhm y-yes." She stuttered as she proceeded to loosen the sheets around her, but his intensifying gaze on her made her hesitate as she suddenly became skittish.
"Could you please look away?" She asked nicely and a mischievous grin tore through his lips as he chuckled softly, but without saying anything, he turned away for his back to face her.
Making sure he wasn’t looking, she quickly stepped into the tub filled with warm, steamy water and the moment she soaked in it, the ache between her legs subsided.
As she stepped in, he slowly turned around to face her, but a shy feeling suddenly overwhelmed her, she wondered where her confidence from earlier had run off to.
One moment her confidence went sky rocket and she was voicing out vulgar words, begging him to touch her, but now all of a sudden, her confidence diminished and betrayed her or perhaps she was high on his intoxicating blood.
Wait! She suddenly remembered she was a vampire, for a split moment there she had totally forgotten about her vampiric nature which everyone else had decided to keep away from her.
Her eyes widened with curiosity as she asked "You said I was a vampire, how did I become one? Was I a vampire by birth or a human who was turned?"
Draco sighed softly before answering "You were human, but I turned you, I had to." He said with a strained voice, as if suppressing something difficult that was almost overwhelming.
But when she examined his demeanor and looked deeply into his eyes, she could see a whiff of guilt clouding his gaze even as he tried to avert them from her. It must have been the first time she ever saw him edgy, his demeanor switching immediately like a flip as a heavy weight of guilt shrouded him.
Choosing her words carefully, she spoke "What happened?"
He sighed heavily again, his eyes darkened as he said "When you regain your memories, then you’ll remember."
The tension in the air was heavy as the place fell quiet, she didn’t say anymore or ask anymore questions either, he wasn’t provoked but he appeared too edgy to talk about whatever dark secret surfaced beneath those despairing eyes.
As silence engulfed them, he moved closer to her and held one of her leg in his hands as he scrubbed gently in utter silence, not a word spoken as he continued the gesture with the other leg and every other part of her body, scrubbing her nice and clean.
She wanted to refuse, it seemed ludicrous for him to scrub her feet, but rather she just stayed silent, not saying a word either as he did. But as he did, the sense of deja vu attacked her mind again.
It all felt so strangely familiar as he scrubbed her and for a flitting moment, a blurry vision of him doing the same thing materialized in her head before it faded like a fog clearing out.
Finally, they were done bathing in the quietude of the washroom. Lost in her thoughts, she clad herself in a simple yet stunning black dress.
Brushing her hair herself, she let it fall down her back in waves, having a maid do the trivial things for her was space invasive and Draco didn’t seem to mind either as he did trivial things royalties would normally ring a maid for.
But then, he asked her to help him brush his hair, which she immediately agreed to. Sitting in front of the dressing table while the shards of broken glass remained on the floor, she stood behind him with the brush in her hold while her gaze darted to the broken mirror.
"Don’t worry about that, I’ll call someone to clean it up." He said and she nodded.
As she brushed his hair in silence, she anticipated the sense of deja vu again, but nothing happened, as unfortunately there was no mirror to relive the same experience again.
Done with his hair, they both strode down to the dining hall, but as soon as they emerged into the grand space with a single long table stretching from one end to the other with numerous chairs, their eyes fell on Zamiel who was seated while casually eating.
Taking a bite from his fork, he tilted his head to face them before returning his gaze on his food.
Draco took a seat and Rama sat beside him, while shooting a side glance at Zamiel who was eating, unbothered by his presence.
"Have you heard from your brother? I haven’t seen him since the war." Draco broke the silence while Rama listened attentively as if she had a clue of the discussion.
Immediately Draco made mention of a brother she had no idea of, Zamiel paused for a second and the air turned heavy in that millisecond before he continued eating nonchalantly.
Taking a sip of water, he took his time before replying "He’s climbed up the ladder of ranking."
