Chapter 299: A Stolen Kiss In The Quiet Of The Night

Rama tried to coerce them into spilling about her past, using emotional blackmail to get through them, but immediately she spoke, they stiffened with awkward body movements, even Jori seemed hesitant as she pressed her lips in a straight line.

"Did the queen ask you all to be quiet?" Rama asked, observing their silence.

Adeline gave a quick head nod as she avoided eye contact with her.

"We’re not allowed to speak about anything concerning your past, it was an order." Merissa indicated and a scowl hung on Rama’s face.

"We apologize, but it was a strict order from the queen herself, we can’t say anything." Lana said apologetically.

But despite the warnings, Rama pressed on "She won’t have to know, I don’t need to say anything and neither do any of you, all you have to do is help trigger my memories."

"You don’t understand, it doesn’t work that way. Your memories won’t get retrieved when we tell you everything, besides we only have ever heard rumours about you, some are true and others well... may be false." Lana implied with a slight shrug.

"Please, just tell me everything you know about me, I deserve to know the truth of who I am, I would appreciate it if you helped me, it would mean a lot." Rama pressed on with pleading eyes, reluctant to give up.

She could see the hesitation in their eyes as if they were weighing on their options of whether to reveal the truth to her or not. A smile almost tugged the edge of her lips up as she realized they were struggling with their conflicting emotions, so assumably they were considering telling her.

"Should we?" Jori mouthed to the others, but Rama who had been observing with keen eyes caught it.

The others held an edgy look on their faces, but they seemed open to cooperation. They glanced at her with hesitancy but eventually, they agreed.

"Are you sure you won’t tell anyone? Apart from that, we’ve told you our names." Merissa pointed out, her skeptical eyes boring into hers.

"I won’t, I promise." Rama said with seriousness etched on her face.

They pursed their lips as they prepared to disclose everything to her.

Her face was alight with curiosity and anticipation, hanging onto every word uttered by the four enigmatic figures cloaked in billowing robes the color of freshly fallen snow.

The four white witches, distinguished by their radiant auras and otherworldly presence, leaned forward with an air of seriousness, preparing to unveil the profound truth to Rama. Their serene faces held ancient wisdom, and their voices carried a mystical resonance that seemed to resonate through the very fabric of her mind.

As the four witches were poised to reveal their secret, a sudden hush swept through the room. The guests parted like waves before a grand ship, creating a pathway for the arrival of the unexpected guest, the Silver White Queen. Draped in a resplendent gown that shimmered like moonlit frost, she exuded an ethereal grace that commanded attention. Her silver hair cascaded down her back, adorned with intricate silver filigree, and her eyes held an otherworldly wisdom that could pierce through the veil of time itself.

A collective gasp rippled through the assembly as the Queen made her entrance, her presence casting a profound stillness over the once-lively gathering.

Rama, and the four white witches froze mid-sentence, their eyes widening with a mixture of awe and trepidation. With a dignified poise, the Queen glided forward, each step leaving a delicate imprint on the stone floor. The moonbeams seemed to bow in reverence as she approached the gathering, her presence casting an ethereal luminescence that danced across the room.

Rama and the white witches turned towards the Queen, their expressions a blend of awe and deference. The air crackled with an anticipation that held the promise of significant revelations.

Eyes peering intensely toward their way, she approached them with a hanging smile on her lips.

The Silver White Queen’s voice, when she spoke, echoed like celestial melodies harmonizing with the symphony of the night. "Greetings, esteemed guests, Rama."

"Greetings my queen." They all chanted in unison as they bowed.

"I hope you’re enjoying the event, I’ll leave you all to your discussions, mind what you utter." She spewed out with a hint of warning in her tone before retreating into the crowd.

Sensing the weight of the Queen’s arrival, the four witches exchanged knowing glances, silently acknowledging the gravity of the moment. Without a word spoken, they shifted their focus from the imminent revelation to the majestic presence of the Silver White Queen.

With practiced ease, they seamlessly diverted the conversation, their voices weaving tales of distant lands and fantastical creatures, effortlessly concealing the pivotal truth they had been on the brink of revealing.

Rama’s brow furrowed in confusion, sensing the sudden change in direction. She attempted to steer the conversation back to the impending revelation, but the four witches skillfully guided the discourse away, their words flowing like a mesmerizing melody.

Rama appeared torn between curiosity and deference, casting furtive glances at the Silver White Queen while trying to subtly coax the conversation back to its earlier course.

However, an unspoken understanding passed between the witches, a silent agreement to stick to the enigma that surrounded the undisclosed truth, now shrouded in the imposing presence of the Queen.

As the night wore on and the festivities continued, Rama couldn’t shake off the lingering sense of disquiet. Her mind raced with unanswered questions, and a tinge of frustration gnawed at her, for the truth she sought seemed to slip further away with each passing moment in the Queen’s regal presence. Rama, exchanged discreet glances with the four witches, conveying a silent displeasure of the thwarted disclosure.

Rama excused herself and without turning back, she stepped out of the ball room, departing from their sight she strode through the corridors and stopped by the balcony, taking in a deep breath of fresh air.

As she enjoyed her alone time, she heard a familiar voice echo softly behind her "Was the party boring?"

Turning to the side, her eyes met Dalen’s "Not at all, I just needed a bit of fresh air."

Dalen felt a sense of ease as they were finally alone from the prying eyes of others. Since her arrival, he had been waiting for her to finally be free and unlatched from the others and now that they were finally alone, it seemed like the right time for his confession.

As Dalen approached Rama, his heart beat with a mixture of anticipation and trepidation. His love for her was a silent symphony that had echoed through his soul, yet the words had remained imprisoned in the chambers of his heart.

With hesitant steps, Dalen closed the distance between them. His hand trembled slightly as he reached out, gently turning Rama to face him. Her startled expression mirrored the starlight-kissed surprise of the night sky, her eyes wide with astonishment at the unexpected gesture.

Before Rama could comprehend his intent, Dalen’s lips, soft and tender, brushed against hers in an unspoken declaration of his heartfelt affection. The touch was a fleeting caress, a whispered confession woven into the delicate fabric of the night. But as swiftly as the kiss had begun, it was abruptly halted.

Rama’s reaction was immediate. Startled, she recoiled, her eyes widening in astonishment, a flush of surprise and confusion painting her features. Her hand instinctively rose to touch her lips, as if trying to comprehend the unexpected contact that had disrupted the tranquil night.

"Dalen..." Rama’s voice faltered, her gaze searching his eyes for an explanation, her heart torn between the shock of emotions that cascaded within her.

A flicker of regret shadowed Dalen’s expression as he took a step back, his features reflecting a mix of remorse and understanding. "Forgive me," he uttered softly, his voice laden with an apology that echoed through the silent night. "I didn’t mean to startle you."

Rama’s thoughts raced like a tempest within her mind, grappling with the sudden revelation of Dalen’s affection. Her heart, a tumultuous sea of conflicting emotions, struggled to process the unexpected confession. She felt a surge of sympathy for Dalen, yet her own feelings remained entwined in a maze of uncertainty.

"Dalen, I..." Rama’s voice trailed off, her eyes flickering with a mix of empathy and confusion, unable to articulate the whirlwind of emotions stirring within her.

Dalen’s gaze softened, understanding dawning in the depths of his serene eyes. With a gracious nod, he sought to assuage Rama’s discomfort. "Please, forgive my impulsive action," he implored gently, his tone a soothing balm to the tension that lingered between them. "I value your friendship above all else. I understand if my feelings are not reciprocated."

The ambiance of the balcony seemed to hold its breath, suspended in a delicate equilibrium between revelation and restraint. The moon, an enigmatic witness to the moment, cast its silvery radiance upon the duo, painting them in a mystical aura that mirrored the complexity of their emotions.

Rama offered a faint, apologetic smile, her eyes reflecting a blend of gratitude and regret. "Thank you for your honesty, Dalen," she murmured, her voice carrying the weight of unspoken sentiments. "You are a cherished friend."

With a dignified bow, Dalen acknowledged her words, masking the ache in his heart with an air of noble composure. "As you wish, Rama," he replied, his voice a gentle echo in the tranquil night.

With a silent understanding passing between them, Rama and Dalen stood in a quiet moment of acknowledgment, their unspoken feelings lingering in the secluded haven of the balcony, as the night enveloped them once more in its tender embrace.
