Chapter 130: The Queen’s Hand Maiden

"Where have you been?" She queried, not in the least surprised by his appearance.

"Dressing up? Where else?" He replied sarcastically.

"The last time I checked, the dressing room was inside our chambers, you didn’t run around the castle naked did you?" She queried with one raised brow skeptically.

A short chuckle escaped his lips, amused by her dark humour.

"Surely, your eyes are the only jewels privileged to relish in such view and no one else’s." He said with a smug smile.

"Right, I’m so very honoured after a thousand women have seen it before me, oh how very honoured I am." She exclaimed in a mockfilled tone.

"Ahh, you have a knack to always give a retort don’t you?" He murmured beneath his breath. She rolled her eyes with a scoff in reply. "I was only pointing out the obvious."

"You’re the one resisting, if you weren’t, you’d understand why all the women wants me." He said with a lingering whiff of pride.

"And yet you chose your enemy, what a weak choice for a vampire king and the devil’s son." She exclaimed in feigned surprise.

"It wasn’t a weak choice, physically you’re not powerful but your blood is." He said in a serious tone. She wanted to question him further on what he meant but then she remembered Malika.

"Where is she? Malika? You promised to keep her safe." Rama shot at him with a fierce look as he neared her while diverting the topic. He took a seat at the table next to her before replying her.

Leaving her glaring at him with impatience, he took his time as he crossed one long leg over the other, his gaze intently fixed on her.

"Where is she then? Stop being so smug with me, it’s annoying." She said between gritted teeth, her composure fast losing to her impatience.

"It’s our first wedding breakfast together, I heard you called for her but I postponed it." He finally replied with a blank look as he took hold of his cutleries, placing steak and other treats in his plate.

"What do you mean by that? I need to see her to ensure she’s safe, that’s the only reason I accepted to marry you." She snapped, placing her cutleries down with force for it to collide noisily on the table.

"She is safe and was the reason you wanted to marry Damien, but not me." He pointed out firmly, emphasizing on every word rolling off his lips.

"What other reason could there be? Surely I did not marry you because I love you." She implied with a hard gaze, although her hard rock resolve was melting as she sensed a whiff of truth from his words.

He released a laughter evoked from darkness itself, a haunting chilling note that seemed to awaken shadows as it echoed through the hall.

"Again, love holds no candle to our bond, but I understand it’s the only way to express your feelings for me." He said with a charming smile on his face, charming but deceptive, like the cunning devil that he was.

"Where is Malika? And what do you mean by you postponed my call for her?" She queried, ignoring his remark because she had nothing to say, more like he left her speechless because she knew he was right.

"She’s probably in her chambers, all cozy and comfy, away from the prying eyes of danger, so fret not love. I would have said ’I won’t hurt her if you’re being good’ but then I realized I don’t need you to be a good little girl, there’s no need for change, because my sweet feisty princess is just perfect." He said with a neutral yet serious countenance.

Rama, again was left speechless by the sincerity of his words that made her heart flutter like a thousand butterfly wings, her cheeks flushing hot red as she gulped down heavily, this strange feeling he elicited in her with just the sincerity of his words was heavily distracting, although it was nice, she couldn’t afford to be distracted by his charms.

"It’s a shame because I’d want a lot to change about you." She lied blatantly with a straight face. Truthfully, she didn’t want a single thing to change about him, maybe that was what their bond was entailed on. Acceptance of flaws and learning to love them.

"Ah, how many times must I tell you how bad of a liar you are." He stated with a lopsided smirk curling on his lips.

"I’m not a bad liar, you can read my mind." She argued in a clipped tone.

"You’ll see Malika soon, she’s your hand maiden anyway." He suddenly said as he sliced his steak enthusiastically, cutting it into small sized pieces.

"She’s not my handmaiden, she’s a sister and I’m her only family now." She said with a stern expression as she stabbed a piece of food with her fork.

"She’s your handmaiden now, the queen’s handmaiden." He declared as he stabbed the piece of steak among the many cut out ones, extending the stabbed meat to her lips, he gestured for her to open up and she did hesitantly before speaking.

"Did you make her my handmaiden?" Rama queried in between chewing on the juicy meat.

"Should she laze around in the castle instead? She’s not a guest Rama, she’s a captive and the perfect individual for the job." Draco stated firmly, leaving no room for argument.

She couldn’t argue with him, he was right. She’d be by her side more often if she was her handmaiden.

"Now eat up, you’ll need your strength for when we’re about to start making babies." He suddenly spouted out ever so casually, even his expression was plain, she wondered how he easily spouted ludicrous things out.

"W-What? What babies?" She shrieked in horror, never had she reveled in the thought of becoming a mother and having children, the simple dream seemed out of reach for her to grasp, but now the thought of having a demon baby sounded even more delusional.

"You know the little things that grows in your stomach from a result of a man and a woman having sex and is also expected of my wife to produce." He said, giving her a sarcastic reply with a blank face.

"I’m not ready to have sex yet, neither do I want babies, so go to your mistresses, I’m sure you have loads of them, they can produce as many children as you want and probably stronger ones too." She blurted out, anger slowly rising in her when she remembered he had concubines.

"You’re not ready or you’re resisting just to make me suffer?" He queried sarcastically, but she gave no reply.

"Anyways, are you sure you want me to go to my concubines? To have me touching other women, kissing them and entering other women?" He drawled, his voice teasingly low, but her rage only intensified as she clutched her hands tightly under the table, her teeth gritting hard but she managed to force a smile on her lips.

"You’re a king, you can have as many concubines and wives as much as you want, I don’t care." She spitted out bitterly, her jade eyes flaming with rage she found hard to control, she honestly at that point wanted to punch that smug look off his handsome face.

Sprouting up from her chair with a disturbing screech, as she was unable to stay there any longer, she reached for the door with stomping footsteps, as she was about to open the door, two strong arms slammed it shut with a loud bang that made her jump.

Veering around, she turned to meet him staring down at her with the intensity of his gaze on her figure, his strong arms resting on the door as he trapped her between his large figure and the door, like a bunny in the large claws of a predator.

"Where does my feisty princess thinks she’s off to? You get jealous easily, don’t you?" He teased with a smirk.

"I was done with breakfast, now if you may excuse me, I have to leave, you can have company in the presence of your concubines." Her words a symphony of anger and jealousy rolled off her lips bitterly.

"Concubines? They’re only a mere shadow in your radiant presence." He said with an unfathomable glint in his eyes.

She eyed him for a second with a prudent gaze, as if reading his expression.

"The last time I checked, you had concubines, are you saying you got rid of every single one of them? For me?" She whined, but the last sentence was said in barely a whisper, one that the air didn’t catch word of.

With a sly grin, he leaned in close to his mate and quipped with a husky velvety voice,

"Darling, why would I need a concubine when my heart and body are already under your bewitching spell? It’s all yours, every wicked inch of it. There’s no room for anyone else in my heart or bed." A wicked grin reached his crimson smeared lips to reveal his glistening fangs, as dark desires swirled in his red eyes.
