Chapter 524: Will They Take Me Away?

The three friends arrived at Wildridge Manor to visit Oriana where her anticipation centered not only on unraveling the mystery behind her nightmares but also on obtaining medicine for her grandfather.

Settling into the open lounge, they made themselves comfortable amidst the ambient chatter.

"You seem weary," observed Yorian, his gaze fixed on Oriana.

Before she could respond, a voice beside her interjected, "We are a newly married couple. Isn’t it normal for her to look tired?"

Oriana shot a glare at Arlan, baffled by his perpetual rudeness towards Yorian. Their exchanges never seemed to veer from the acerbic.

Yorian countered with a mocking smirk, "I believe that is the case."

"Lady Evanthe shall we go somewhere so these two can continue spitting poison at each other?" Oriana interjected, her patience wearing thin. She was eager to assist her grandfather, not to endure this banter.

Evanthe chuckled in response, "Shall we?"

"No need," Arlan interjected, "Please continue with the purpose of your visit."

With Evanthe’s guidance, Oriana delved into the details of the remedy they had devised for her nightmares.

"...so, Prince Arlan acts as a shield to prevent their intrusion," Evanthe concluded.

Oriana nodded in comprehension, only to be interrupted by Arlan’s declaration, "It’s clear now, isn’t it? We are destined to be together from the outset."

She offered a slight nod, internally sighing, ’How much more indebted to him must I become?’

"Will they take me away even if I don’t want to go there?" Oriana asked, her voice tinged with uncertainty.

"Instead of whether they will take you away, are you certain you’ll never desire to go there, or can you hold onto that determination indefinitely? The future remains uncertain; we cannot discount the possibility of you embracing where you truly belong. What matters is how events unfold and where they lead you. Everything hinges on destiny. So, I advise you to brace yourself for whatever may come your way," replied Evanthe with a thoughtful tone.

Oriana felt a surge of anxiety but fought to maintain composure. Arlan offered a reassuring pat on her hand. "Whatever happens, I’ll stand by your side to protect you. Do not worry about anything."

"Moreover, there might be a day when you would want to go there so you can seek answers to your previous life. One can never part with where they truly belongs," Evanthe commented.

Oriana nodded gratefully, then heard Sierra break her silence with a more serious inquiry. "Oriana, have you noticed any changes in your body or any impact on your vitality?"

At Sierra’s words, Oriana’s heart skipped a beat, her hand trembling lightly under Arlan’s touch. "No, I haven’t felt anything amiss yet," she replied calmly.

"Hmm, that’s a relief. But if you ever sense anything unusual, please inform us immediately," Sierra urged.

"I will," Oriana affirmed.

Arlan glanced at her but said nothing.

"I wanted to discuss something else, Lady Evanthe," Oriana spoke, shifting the conversation.

"Please, go ahead," Evanthe assured.

Oriana gently withdrew her hand from Arlan’s grasp and addressed the group solemnly, "I need your assistance in creating a medicine to aid my grandfather. Master Erich showed me a pill that said to be was crafted by you."

Evanthe extended her hand, revealing a pill resting in her palm. "Are you referring to this?" she inquired.

Oriana recognized it instantly, nodding, "Yes, that’s the one. I wish to learn its formulation so I can aid my grandfather."

"I can certainly instruct you, but it’s crucial to understand the repercussions of administering this medicine to your elderly grandfather, beyond just its potential benefits," Evanthe cautioned.

"Repercussions?" Oriana echoed, concern evident in her eyes.

"Know that this pill isn’t an elixir of immortality capable of rejuvenating a body that has already depleted its natural vitality due to age," Evanthe explained patiently. "When given to a younger individual who is injured, it can heal both body and soul, allowing them to continue their life as their natural vitality sustains them till their old age. However, the same cannot be said for an elderly body that has already diminished in vitality. There’s no remedy for the effects of old age in humans, and such a body is destined to pass in due time."

"What would happen if I were to administer it to my grandfather?" Oriana inquired anxiously.

"He would awaken, but his remaining lifespan would be shortened," Evanthe replied gravely. "In his current state, he may have a few months left, but if given this pill, his aged body would muster its last strength to awaken, only to fade within a matter of days. Instead of a few months, you would be faced with his loss within a few days."

"So instead of granting him life, I’d be taking it away?" Oriana murmured, grappling with the weight of her decision.

"There’s another perspective to consider," Sierra interjected gently. "Would you rather have him remain in a perpetual state of unconsciousness until his soul departs, or would you prefer to have him awaken for a few precious days, where he could interact with you, share moments, and perhaps provide the answers you seek?"

"Would it be selfish of me to wish for him to awaken, not only because he’s family but also because I want get answers to some questions, even if it means shortening his remaining time?" Oriana questioned, torn by her inner turmoil.

"It’s better to seek answers than to let uncertainties haunt you indefinitely," Sierra advised. "There’s a chance he may also wish to communicate with you, but his current state prevents it. Sooner or later he would depart due to his old age, why not let it happen peaceful with getting answers everyone seeks for?"

"I’ll think about it further, but for now, I do want to learn how to create that pill," Oriana decided firmly.

Yorian rose from his seat, breaking the tension, "You can discuss the medicine in the meantime..." he glanced at Arlan, "Would you mind introducing me to your pet?"

Arlan nodded in agreement, rising from his seat, his gaze lingering on Oriana, "Take your time."

She nodded in acknowledgment, watching as the two men departed.

"You can relay what you learn, and I’ll guide you through the process," Evanthe offered.

"I’m uncertain about the final ingredient needed," Oriana admitted. "Lord Yorian mentioned it’s somehow related to the creator."

"The last ingredient is the divine power within the creator’s body," Evanthe clarified. "It’s not just the last, but the sole crucial component required to treat the body."

"So, using those herbs to create a pill is essentially crafting an elixir to store that divine power, so one can use it as per their convenience," Sierra elaborated.

Evanthe nodded, expanding on the concept, "Indeed, it’s not merely an elixir. When introduced into a human body, those herbs serve as a conduit to facilitate the infusion of divine power. Sometimes, an injured human body isn’t receptive to direct infusion of divine power, as we supernaturals can transfer our essence to heal. To aid your grandfather’s healing, we must utilize these herbs to merge divine power within his body."

"Understood," Oriana acknowledged, absorbing the explanation.

"As his family, you can use your own divine power. I’ll instruct you on how to utilize it," Evanthe offered.

"Thank you. Can we do it right now?" Oriana inquired urgently.

Evanthe smiled reassuringly, "Of course. Let me guide you. Fortunately, I always carry herbs with me."
