Chapter 519: A Pet

"Your Highness!" Ana’s panicked cry echoed as she watched this sudden scary scene unfolding in front of her.

In response to the threat, the knights swiftly drew their swords, advancing towards the wolf now looming over Oriana, ready to defend their crown princess at all costs.

The Wolf sniffed her scent and seemed to be calm down as its growls turned milder, its eyes fixed on her screaming face.

Arlan, engrossed in conversation with his knights, was jolted by the sound of his wife’s piercing screams. In a moment he appeared at the scene only to witness Oriana sprawled on the ground, her eyes tightly shut in terror, and her screams reverberating through the air. The imposing figure of the wolf stood above her small form, emitting subdued growls while calmly observing her.

Arlan raised his hand to signal his knights to hold their positions. He approached his trembling wife, his expression a mix of concern and amusement.

’What kind of Demoness is she to be scared of a wolf? She could just use her powers to protect herself.’

Standing beside the wolf, Arlan reached out to pat its back. "Did you like her?"

In response, the wolf extended its massive tongue, licking Oriana’s cheek before sniffing her scent again.

Oriana’s screams ceased abruptly, replaced by bewildered silence. She had braced herself for an attack, only to be met with an unexpected display of affection from the creature.

’Is it tasting and smelling me before considering me as its meal?’ she wondered, her mind racing with apprehension.

Slowly opening her eyes, Oriana found herself face-to-face with the wolf looming over her, its gaze unwavering. She glanced at Arlan, who sported a playful smile at her.

Why did it feel like Arlan and this wolf was considering her as a fool.

"Are you quite finished with your theatrics?" Arlan inquired, his tone laced with amusement.

Puzzled, Oriana glanced between Arlan and the majestic white wolf, which now stood placidly by her husband’s side after releasing her.

With Arlan’s assistance, Oriana rose to her feet, her mind racing with questions. She struggled to compose herself, yearning to understand why her husband would allow such a scary creature to roam freely within their residence.

"This is the one I mentioned would be coming to meet you, my pet," Arlan explained, his reassuring hand still resting upon Oriana’s trembling form.

Drawing comfort from Arlan’s presence, Oriana mustered the courage to meet the gaze of the enigmatic wolf. The notion seemed unfathomable to her, yet she couldn’t deny the undeniable bond between Arlan and the creature before her.

’A pet? Not cat or dog or any bird but this huge wolf?’ Oriana wondered, ’This man sure has some weird likings towards the dangerous beings.’

"Snowflake, this is my wife and your another master. You have to be careful with her and not hurt her like you did just now," Arlan spoke and turned his face to look at Oriana, "Snowflake won’t hurt you. She saw you for the first time and thought of you as an intruder so she just tried to intimidate you. Once she smelled my scent on you, she understood you are not an intruder."

"She?" Oriana asked.

"It’s a female wolf," Arlan explained as he raised his brow, "Do you think any male would be standing here alive after daring to touch you this way?"

Oriana felt like rolling her eyes at this over possessive man. But she ignored him and looked at the majestic pure white wolf standing in front of her and took into her beautiful appearance.

It emitted the air just like Arlan, the pride and arrogance just like its master. Its eyes the color of frost-kissed sapphires, the silver-haired wolf appeared to gaze upon the world with a sense of ancient wisdom and quiet intelligence. Its gaze held both gentleness and fierceness, reflecting the duality of nature – serene and tranquil, yet capable of unleashing primal instincts when the need arises.

Transfixed by the creature’s presence, Oriana marveled at its unparalleled grace and mystique. It seemed to embody the essence of untamed wilderness and primal beauty, its fur shimmering like liquid silver beneath the sun rays. Each hair seems to held the essence of moonlight itself, lending the wolf an otherworldly aura that captivates all who beheld it.

"She is beautiful," Oriana mumbled as if in trance, entirely captivated by the beauty of the wolf. The fear she felt a while ago, had disappeared to nothingness.

"She sure is," Arlan replied. "You can pet her. She would appreciate it."

Oriana walked towards snowflake, and slowly raised her hand to touch her soft, furry back. Snowflake welcomed her with a soft growl as she felt her new master caressing her back gently.

"So soft and warm," Oriana mumbled in an amusement, "You have a beautiful name as well."

Arlan was delighted to observe Oriana taking a liking to their pet. He knew his wife was kind hearted and she would love their pet as much as he did.

Oriana looked at Arlan, continuing to pet snowflake, "Where was she? Shouldn’t she stay here with you since she is your pet?"

There was a sudden silence on Arlan’s side. What was the reason that he could never keep anyone dear to him by his side? Everytime he had to send them away so they could stay safe.

"I could not keep her by my side," Arlan replied calmly, not willing to say anything more.

But Oriana understood the reason. It must be because of that Edna who always threatened to harm anything that was dear to Arlan. That witch couldn’t even let him have his pet by his side. Her soul truly deserved to rot in hell till the eternity. For the first time, Oriana wished to appreciate her side of demoness which punished that witch in most cruel way.

"Now she can stay with us," Oriana tried to comfort him to which Arlan nodded.

"Why did you name her Snowflake?" she asked curiously.

It was a little too sweet name for a giant wolf like this and she didn’t expect someone like Arlan to use sweet-cute name for his pet instead of something roguish. Was it because it’s a female wolf?

"I will explain everything later," Arlan observed Oriana’s disheveled clothes and hair and then proceeded to remove the strands of dried grass stuck in her hair, "Are you hurt?"

"No," she replied, allowing him to fix her hair.

"You might need a change of clothes," he suggested.

She looked down at herself, "Umm, I should change."

"Come out once you are done. I will walk with you. Maybe we can talk about our pet," he offered.

Oriana nodded as she wished to know more about Snowflake and went inside along with Ana.

Arlan turned to his pet. He gently patted her soft fur but the look in his eyes was not as gentle as his touch.

"Despite how much I adore you like my own child, if you dare to scare and intimidate her again, you won’t find your paws attached to your body anymore. She is my mate. You understand the meaning of mate, don’t you?"

In response, Snowflake growled softly which was a sign for Arlan that his pet clearly understood what he wanted to convey.
