Chapter 467: Lost Last Shred Of Life

Chapter 467: Lost Last Shred Of Life

Arlan comprehended Edna’s meaning but remained undeterred. "I said let her go," he growled, his eyes ablaze with anger. "Stop inflicting pain on her."

Edna chuckled, "As you wish, my Prince. I can listen to you before I kill you. After all, you have been serving me with your blood all these years."

Soon after Oriana ceased her struggle and looked at Arlan with teary eyes. The pain inflicted upon her was insignificant compared to her desperation to save Arlan.

"Your...Highness..." a low whisper escaped her lips as she gazed at him, feeling relieved that he was unharmed.

Arlan was poised to approach her when...

"Do not forget my warning. I will kill her if you go to her," Edna cautioned, halting Arlan. "I am free from that cage her mother had locked me in. I can find another body now, even if it’s not hers. Think before you act. Your recklessness might truly make me kill her."

Arlan clenched his fists. He couldn’t kill the witch, as it would result in Oriana’s death. He had to comply and restrain himself.

Edna advanced toward Oriana, who lay weakened on the ground. The paralyzing effects of the medicine Arlan had used lingered, leaving her drained and covered in cold sweat. The pain had sapped a significant portion of her energy.

With a layer of the energy globe still separating them, Edna knelt in front of Oriana. "My dear, Oriana. Before I take over your body, I have a gift for you," Edna declared. "I am going to take away the most precious thing from you."

Oriana stared at her with trepidation as Edna continued, "Do you know what this is?"

Anxiety washed over Oriana as she observed a peculiar weapon materialize in Edna’s hand. A long knife with a wooden handle. Her instincts screamed that something terrible was about to happen.

"This weapon is a divine creation crafted from the blood of a Dragon," Edna explained. "Do you know what it can do?"

Oriana’s gaze instinctively shifted to Arlan, standing in silence, his expressions unchanging.

"This weapon, forged from divine power, can kill even the most powerful supernatural beings and obliterate their souls entirely," Edna elaborated. "Their souls won’t even reincarnate. Even if he is a Dragon, this weapon can kill him."

Oriana panicked, fully understanding Edna’s sinister intent. She had read about divine weapon and she knew Edna was telling the truth. This weapon could really kill the Dragon.

"Edna, you can’t."

"Oh, but I can," Edna chuckled. "The reason we have my Prince here is that he would die. I wanted him as my mate, but he has a better use. Unless I break you entirely, I can’t take on your body, and he is the key to breaking you. Moreover, he has betrayed me and tried to kill me. Keeping him alive will only put me in disadvantage. He needs to die so I can keep living."

"You wicked witch. You survived on his blood till now, and want to kill him now?" Oriana gritted her teeth. She looked at Arlan, "Leave. Go away from here. Do not let her kill you."

"He has only two options," the witch interrupted. "In order to kill me, he has to destroy his own soul. Either he kills me and three of us die together, or he alone dies and saves your body at least." Edna looked at Arlan as she stood up, "So, my Prince, what would you want to do?"

Arlan met Oriana’s gaze, his voice dignified. "I expect you not to let her take over your body. Can you at least do that for me?"

Oriana understood his implication. He was prepared to sacrifice himself to prevent Edna from possessing her. "No...."

"Call for Yorian or Drayce and stop her from taking on your body," Arlan instructed. "This barrier will prevent her from reaching you and give you enough time to call for help."

Oriana gritted her teeth and struggled to stand up from the ground. With teary eyes, she pleaded, "Please remove this barrier... I can kill her..." Her gaze was unfocused due to the drug’s effects, but her determination remained strong.

Arlan stood resolute. He didn’t remove the barrier; doing so would make it easier for Edna to reach Oriana.

"I told you...I can kill her..."

But then what? If Oriana killed Edna, the blood curse would take her life too. If that happened, Arlan could kill Edna, but he couldn’t bear to lose Oriana.

"Do as I told. Do not let her take over your body. This is the only thing I want from you, Oriana," Arlan replied with a firm command. "I have sent message to Yorian. He will be here. Ask him to summon Drayce and get Zaria to free you from the blood curse."

"My Prince, so you are really ready to die for her, huh? It breaks my heart to see you caring for another woman but..." Edna laughed as she played with the divine weapon in her hand. "...never mind, as I had already planned to kill you. First, you helped me with your divine blood, and now you are going to help me by facilitating my possession of her body easily. Only if she had not shown how important you are to her, I would have been wondering what method to use to break her. Perhaps taking away the last remaining breaths of that old man, but he is already dying, and it would not affect her much. But you, my Prince, you are much more important to her, even more important than her grandfather, and she would be devastated to see you die."

Arlan heard nothing of what she said as his gaze remained fixed on Oriana, as if he were seeing her for the last time. He wished the last sight of her could have been her laughing at him, but all he could see was her sad and in pain, her eyes brimming with tears, begging him to not leave her.

Edna gripped the long knife with the well-carved handle and walked towards Arlan, who remained rooted in his place, unafraid of the impending death.

Watching Edna walking towards Arlan, Oriana shouted, "No. You can’t. Stop. I will give you my body. Don’t harm him."

Edna didn’t stop as she approached Arlan and stood facing him with the knife in her hand. "My Prince, it would hurt a little as I pierce it into your heart. Forgive me for that pain."

"Stop. Don’t," Oriana screamed, slamming on the invisible barrier of energy. "Your Highness, get away from there," she shouted again, but no one listened to her earnest pleading.

Arlan’s gaze remained fixed on Oriana, afraid to blink and waste even a single moment of seeing her, uncaring of the impending death.

Oriana comprehended the clear meaning in his gaze, and panic overwhelmed her. "You can’t give up your life. Your family will be hurt. You can’t die. Stop her... Let me die instead. I am nobody; no one is waiting for me. Don’t let this happen."

Arlan didn’t move, and Edna offered a last mocking gaze to Oriana. "Watch carefully as I kill the person you cherish the most."

"No...."

Oriana screamed, but the next moment, that knife was already pierced into Arlan’s chest. Oriana’s eyes widened, and she froze in place, shocked and motionless.

Arlan emitted a light, painful groan as the divine weapon pierced his heart, yet the stubborn man remained rooted in his place. His moist eyes didn’t leave the sight of the woman he loved. Even in his last breath, he longed to look at her.

Her hands slid along the invisible barrier as she knelt on the ground helplessly, her eyes fixed on the man losing his strength, fresh blood oozing out of his chest.

Oriana felt the energy barrier in front of her weakening, indicating that Arlan was losing his life. As she recoiled, the next moment she witnessed his tall body falling to the ground, lying motionless as it had lost the last shred of life.
