The Demon King's First General
Chapter 93: Eliminate

Chapter 93: Eliminate

"W-who did this?" The mercenaries asked in confusion.

Even the Diamond-classes were dazed upon seeing the attack. The area of effect of Chrysanteum’s Legacy was so vast that it reached their place even though they were far from the other group.

’Black Lightning? Is this a Legacy?’ The mage’s curiosity got into her head, and she tried to touch the flickering electricity around the spikes.

However, Jez pulled her out upon noticing her intention.

"Do not touch it; we know nothing about its origin," he said, giving a warning.

The next second, he looked around, and as he saw that all of the monsters had been killed in that attack, he gestured for the two to follow him towards the other group of people.

’Now, which one?’ Alles thought while looking at each of the mercenaries, searching for who was capable enough to produce such a terrifying spell.

And as her vision landed on a woman holding a short wand, she asked, "Are you the one who created these things?"

"N-No, I-I am not," she stuttered while answering the Diamond-class mage’s question.

After hearing her, Allesanah scanned the group once more.

"Then, who is it?" She asked, wanting to satisfy her curiosity.

However, upon seeing that almost all of them shook their heads, she became frustrated. Afterward, she heard a chuckle from the backline of the group; it came from the Amethyst-class mercenary.

"What are you laughing at?" She asked.

And Zeno responded with much louder laughter.

"Don’t mind me; I’m just thinking what your reaction would be if I told you that it was my doing," he said, grinning.

"Stop imagining things; I don’t sense any lightning element from you," Allesanah replied, rolling her eyes afterward.

A minimal laughter resounded among the mercenaries; even Goomer released a few hiccups and shook his head upon hearing the silver-haired man’s declaration.

It was just Froyle and Jez who took Zeno’s words in a considered manner. They were somewhat convinced that he was the instigator of that attack.

Meanwhile, Rye intervened in the conversations as she held Alles’ arm.

"We’re not here to act like children; let’s finish this mission first so we can go home," she said, smiling.

"She’s right, Alles, please, enough with the roasting; if the owner of that attack doesn’t want to expose himself, just let it be. Let’s just be thankful that no one from us was caught and died from that scene," Jez seconded, explaining like a good leader.

Then he turned around and walked towards the same tunnel they had gone through before.

"Let’s proceed," he said.

The rest of the group nodded and followed him without question. However, in that instance, Alles’ expression turned grim, the memories from that certain day began to creep into her mind, and sweat could be seen dripping from her forehead.

Then Zeno looked at her before passing by her side. No words came from him, but his eyes and the smirk on his lips already said everything.

Afterward, as soon as the mercenaries entered the passage, they noticed the strange ambience coming from the place. Like the duke’s party from before, the viridescent crystals captured their attention while the silver-haired demon looked up and knitted his brows.

’This is...’ He thought.

Then he glanced at Jez as he felt the changes in the main party’s mood; it all started when they halted their steps.

"Hmnn, this will be fun," he whispered after tossing the black dice up and catching it in mid-air.

The next second, Jez and Royle positioned themselves between two pillars of soil. Royle slammed his spear on the ground while Jez just stood there, both of his fists inside his pockets.

"Listen here! All the warriors lined up behind us. Protect the mages and the members of the second group!" The duke yelled with a voice so serious.

Then the priestess and the man with a half-faced mask walked into the middle of the people. Rye kneeled and closed her eyes while Goomer acted as her protector, ready to defend her from any kind of danger.

"No matter what happens, don’t break free from this formation!" Royle ordered before glancing at Allesanah, whose face was still sour.

"Are you sure you can do it? I can be the one to take it down if you want," he added upon seeing no response from the woman.

And Allesanah shook her head as soon as she heard the man’s question.

"I can do it!" She said, and she stomped the scepter on the ground.

Then she let go of it, but despite the fact that nothing was supporting its shaft, it remained still and never fell. Afterward, Alles slapped both of her cheeks with her own hands.

’Allesanah Von de Viance, take it easy; you can do it,’ she said to herself, giving some kind of encouragement.

"It’s coming," Jez notified his group, and after a few seconds, the group of people felt several tremors coming beneath them.

"What are these extreme shakings?" One of the mercenaries asked while doing their best to stay standing.

Though no one answered his query, he became aware that the trembling of the ground was caused by a single creature.

Then, as the monster made its appearance, all the women from the group, with the exception of Rye and Alles, collapsed onto the ground. Even some of the men fell to their knees; they crawled back while staring at the creature’s horrible looks.

"Hey! What happened?" asked the others upon seeing what happened to their comrades.

In that moment, Jez looked behind him and observed. It was exactly what he had expected a while ago.

’They were instigated with fear,’ he thought, bringing back his line of sight to the monster in front of him.

"Alles!" Jez called out.

A huge, bright flame flew towards the unknown creature in just a blink of an eye. Afterward, as it diminished and Allesanah turned into a human little by little, she aimed a kick at the monster’s head.

Her scepter was nowhere to be seen; her hair had red embers sticking to every strand, while her eyes were blazing like a wildfire.

Her attack was blocked; it failed to pass the long fingernails that prevented her kick from connecting. The next second, the snake hissing from the monster’s eyesockets looked at Alles before trying to bite her leg.

Upon seeing this, the close-combat mage leaped backward and charged once more, hoping to land even a single hit.

The group of mercenaries watched as Allesanah performed blow after blow in several attacks imbued with the element of fire.

’She’s amazing,’ they thought, amazed by her movements.

They were surprised, knowing that Allesanah could fight so well with her body as the main weapon despite being a mage. However, after several minutes of staring at Allesanah’s attacks getting blocked, questions began to pop up inside their minds.

"Ahmmn, excuse me. Why are you guys not helping her?" A curious man asked.

"It’s not that we don’t want to. We just can’t," the man guarding the priestess replied.

Then all of their eyes except for the demon looked at him, waiting for the reason.

"After people entered that monster’s area of detection, it began to be more powerful. I don’t know how it happened, but based on what we experienced last time, there would be no better speculation than this," Goomer said, clarifying things.

"Alles was trashing that monster before, but the moment we dove in to help her secure the kill, it turned into a nightmare," he added, making those who were listening to him gulp a few times.

"Don’t scare them," Rye chimed in and stood up.

Meanwhile, Zeno kept his eyes staring at the battle in front of them. He was smiling like a lunatic, and some of the mercenaries found it distasteful. If they didn’t know that the man alongside them was responsible for the death of a Ruby-class mercenary, they would strangle him to death without any kind of remorse.

However, Zeno cared less about their thoughts; he had no intention to be friendly or even pick a fight with them. All of his focus was on the monster with the strange, creepy appearance.

’A Domain-type Legacy that can multiply its user’s strength based on the number of opponents,’ Zeno thought.

"Heh, that’s cheating," he said, laughing at his own remark.

But the group of people still ignored him and just supported the close combat mage inside their minds.

"Can we really not do anything to help her?" the man, who was holding a machete, asked, worried about the woman.

"She’s considering it a rematch, so she won’t probably accept any help from us,’ Royle replied.

Though his grip on his spear was not saying the same thing. As if he was ready to jump at any point in time to save Alles if something unexpected happened.

"Indeed, it’s her battle," Jez added while his hands were still inside his pockets.

In the meantime, Allesana was gritting her teeth out of anger. Almost a couple of minutes had already passed, but her attacks were all failures.

’He’s a lot stronger than the first time we met,’ she thought.

Then she spun around the monster and threw a devastating kick, aiming at its back. Her foot had little orbs of fire that created an ear-piercing explosion upon contact and sent the creature closer to the group’s location.

However, the monster acted like it was nothing; the burns it received vanished without any hint of damage.

The next second, a grumpy voice came out of the creature’s mouth, causing Allesanah’s eyes widen in surprise.

"I-Intruders, a d-demon has been detected. Eliminate!" It said, and the two snakes, which acted as its vision, stared hissing at the silver-haired man at the backline of the group.
