Chapter 90: Your Not So Ordinary Princess
Chapter 90: Your Not So Ordinary Princess
"I got busted right away," the knight said at last, and he giggled afterward.
The men gulped as they heard the sweetness of the voice. It was so feminine that their hearts fluttered just listening to it.
Then the knight took off the helmet, and long black hair fell off her shoulders.
"P-princess?" Flynn uttered.
Unlike the others, who were stunned by the woman’s beauty, he was surprised by the sudden development of the events. There was no way he expected that the person behind the piece of metalwear was the emperor’s daughter.
"W-what are you doing here? His Majesty will kill us," Flynn added, worrying about what the emperor would do once he knew about this fact.
"You have nothing to worry about; I’ll handle Father. Besides, you won’t do any harm against me, am I right?" The princess answered.
"Of course! But-" Flynn replied, but the woman interrupted.
"I thought that your family was in dire need, and I got disheartened after seeing Father decline your request, so I chose to come with you," she said.
’Does she know how to fight?’ Flynn thought.
Aside from her beyond comprehension beauty, there was not an instance where he heard any information regarding the princess’ battle prowess.
"But still, the emperor will definitely be mad," he conveyed.
"Enough with the buts, and let me accompany you; besides, I’m interested in those intruders you spoke of," she informed, explaining her reason for sneaking out of the palace.
And upon seeing the prince remain quiet, she took a step forward and spoke again.
"I hope you won’t send me back home," she said before leaning closer to take a better look at the prince’s face.
Flynn blushed, and his face turned like a tomato in an instant. Having a gorgeous woman staring at him from just a few meters away disrupted his line of thinking.
"The emperor will really wipe our kingdom from the map if something happens to you, Princess," Flynn uttered, shaking his head.
"Like I’ve said, I will take care of that, and trust me, I’m way more capable than I look," she replied, raising both of her hands in the air.
Then purple flame burst from her right side’s fingertips while red lightning flickered at her left hand all the way into her arm.
"I’m not your so ordinary princess, after all," she said, gleaming with a smile.
. . . . .
"Anyways, that’s much better," Zeno said, smiling.
Then he resumed his steps and met Kizeler along the way.
"I thought that you were going to stay there until morning," Kizeler commented as soon as he saw the demon walking towards him.
"I want to have a drink; do you want to tag along?" Zeno answered with a question.
Kizeler shook his head before replying.
"I like to spend the night resting for now. Even though my fatigue is gone, my mind is still tired," he replied.
"That’s a shame then. Well, have a good night’s sleep," Zeno uttered before passing the human.
Then Kizeler continued to go on his way home while the demon headed towards the town center. He glanced at the people at the side of the road while listening to the things they offered.
After a couple of minutes, he arrived at his destination. He looked around and saw that the number of people in the plaza was not that large compared to the streets. Then he sat on a bench and put his arms at the top of its backrest before looking up.
Mist came out of his every breath as the temperature continued to drop with every second that passed.
He stayed like that for a while when he heard a few bystanders chattering several meters away from him.
"Have you heard the news? The king increased the reward for the item he’s looking for," one of the men said, informing his friends about the latest update about the strange task.
"For real? How much is it now? Another one asked.
"You’re such a dummy! The mission board is right over there. Check it yourself!" said a woman, nagging about her friend’s ignorance.
The other man laughed, while the other looked at the direction of the board.
"Too far, just spill it out," he said.
The woman rolled her eyes, but still, she revealed it afterwards.
"Thirty thousand gold coins—imagine how much money that is," she answered.
And his friend’s eyes widened in shock.
"The king is going overboard!" He exclaimed while shaking his head.
Meanwhile, Zeno opened his eyes and glanced at the group. Then he stood up and walked towards them.
He was still a few distances away when the bystanders spotted him coming in their direction, and the moment they realized who he was, they felt their bodies trembling in fear.
"W-Wren Stasis, he was the center of discussion during earlier’s recruitment," the woman uttered.
They were about to run when Zeno smiled and spoke, which caused them to freeze in their positions.
"Move, and your heads will detach from your bodies," he threatened.
Then, after the distance between them shortened, the demon spoke once more.
"Just kidding," he said after looking into each of their eyes.
"W-What do you want from us?" The man asked, distress present in his voice.
"Relax, I’m not here for trouble. It just happens that your topic caught my attention," Zeno replied.
As soon as the woman heard his reason, she looked where the silver-haired man came from and gulped as she figured out how far their location was from the bench.
’His sense of hearing... Is he still human?’ She asked inside her thoughts.
Afterward, Zeno began to state his question regarding the king’s mission.
"Do you guys know if someone actually brought a key to the castle?" He said.
The group of bystanders looked at each other before shaking their heads in an instant. No one of them spoke.
"Have you lost your voices or got your tongues cut or something?" Zeno asked after seeing how they responded to his question.
And the bystanders looked at each other once again, as if they were talking through their eyes.
"Hey! Speak!" Zeno instructed with calmness yet filled with overwhelming authority.
"W-We’re just afraid to offend you," the man answered, closing his eyes afterward, afraid to see the silver-haired man’s reaction.
"Such trivial reasoning," Zeno uttered, shaking his head.
"Do you know why the king is looking for that kind of item?" He asked again, hoping to gain some knowledge from the three individuals in front of him.
However, the two men shook their heads in an instant upon hearing the question, so the demon glanced at the woman and waited for her to speak.
"I-I heard it a few days ago. S-Someone intruded on the castle and killed all the people inside, excluding the royal family of Frostbloom," she articulated.
Then she continued, seeing that the man was focused on listening.
"They are the ones searching for that thing, and the King just issued the mission out of fear for them," she added.
Zeno nodded while staring into the woman’s eyes. He contemplated who those people were, and the dark elf was the first one to come to mind.
’Maybe his companions,’ he thought.
Then his lips began to curl upward, which made the bystanders’ hearts sink into panic.
"Hmnn, now I’m somewhat interested," he uttered after turning around.
He left the group of people without saying a single thing, making their breathing return to normal.
They all sighed in relief upon seeing the silver-haired man walk away.
Afterward, Zeno strolled around the place to pass the time, then, like he intended, he bought a bottle of ale and went into a building’s roof that was high enough for him not to be noticed by the people walking underneath.
The next second, he chugged the drink like there was no tomorrow and lied down.
’It’s too sweet,’ he thought as he stared into the moon.
Even though he was not tired or sleepy, Zeno still closed his eyes and let the rest of the night pass.
. . . . .
The next day, early in the morning, Kizeler woke up with a refreshing feeling; his sleep was almost perfect if Priscilla was right there beside him.
The dawn would end anytime soon, and as Kizeler stood up from his bed, he stretched his arms upward and started his day.
With an empty stomach, he proceeded to do the first task included in his list. His first plan was to get a new sword, but it was easier said than done. After all, he was not inside the vicinity of Herish Kingdom, where weapons could be found on each corner of the place.
Then, as Kizeler went out of the inn, he looked at the roof to search for the demon’s whereabouts. However, even his shadow was not present above the area, so he turned around and walked to the town’s center.
"Where are you, demon’?" He uttered while looking at both sides of the street, still searching for Zeno and a weapon shop that could provide him with a good-quality sword.
Unfortunately, he found nothing. Then, as he was thinking about where to look for Zeno, he realized that he would be left alone tomorrow due to the dungeon mission.
’Should I beg for him to let me tag along? ’ He thought but just kept it on his head.
Deep in thoughts, Kizeler almost jumped in shock as he felt a hand tap his shoulder.
"Quite the scaredy cat, aren’t you?" Zeno commented after approaching the human from behind.
Then, as soon as Kizeler turned around to face him, the demon spoke once again.
"Do me a favor," he said, which made the human stare at him with dumbfounded eyes.
