The Demon King's First General
Chapter 88: It’s Moving

Chapter 88: It’s Moving

"Hey, wait for me!" Kizeler yelled while running towards the demon.

"Is the killing part really necessary?" He asked upon coming closer.

Zeno looked up and placed his hands inside his pocket before answering.

"Will you just stay quiet when someone is mocking you?" He said.

"No, but I won’t let it escalate to the point that we’re going to kill each other," Kizeler replied.

He was waiting for the demon to respond; however, they had already taken several steps, and there were no words coming from him.

"Though what you did back there is pretty amazing, having the ability to sense your surroundings is pretty cool—is that your Legacy?" He asked again.

And this time, Zeno laughed as soon as he heard Kizeler’s remark.

"That’s just a bluff; it’s true that I can sense those things around me, but there’s no way that what I’ve said about the exact number of people can be the reality," he answered, ignoring the question about the Legacy.

"I’m not omniscient enough to be that accurate," he added.

"It still amazes me," Kizeler insisted.

Then Zeno glanced at him and examined his body. He already noticed the changes but just chose to ignore them earlier.

"That’s quite a healer you’ve met," he said.

"Oh, this? Someone healed me moments ago; if I’m not mistaken, she’s an elf," Kizeler replied while stretching his arms upward.

"Hmnn, I wonder about that," he said.

Upon hearing him, Kizeler knitted his brows. He asked for a reason behind the demon’s words, but he received no reply.

. . . . .

The time flew by, and the sun began to recede along with the activities happening in the town. Lights flickering on the streets hinted at the start of nightlife.

People chose to spend the nights resting inside their homes, while those who just came back from adventures told their tales and got themselves drunk in the process.

Meanwhile, Kizeler went out of the inn he rented and looked above the roof.

’He’s still lying down,’ he thought upon seeing the demon sleeping up there.

"Hey! Do you want to come with me and eat?" He asked, shouting, but the demon didn’t even show any interest.

So he turned around and walked to find a place to have dinner.

"How come he’s so comfortable in a sturdy place like that, plus with this cold climate?" He uttered.

Several dining rooms were open, and lots of servers were doing their best to encourage the citizens to dine in their place.

"We have a variety of food, and our liquors are the best," yelled a woman.

"If you’re looking for a place to eat in silence, follow me inside our place, and we have a lot to offer," another woman shouted and even winked upon seeing Kizeler.

Kizeler blushed a little but shook his head in an instant, then, as the snow began to fall, he chose the restaurant without too many people inside. After the happenings these past few days, he wanted to have some peace of mind, even for a little while.

Without further ado, he entered the place and asked for a light meal. Then he went to a vacant seat, but when he was about to settle down, he noticed the familiar silhouette of a woman eating beside the window. So he changed his mind and headed toward the person.

"Hey! Would you mind if I sat here?" He asked.

Then the woman looked at him, thinking about who the man was who approached and interrupted her meal, but upon seeing the black, messy hair, she immediately remembered who it was.

"I’m not the owner of the place, so I don’t have any reason to object," she said, smiling.

Upon hearing her, Kizeler sat down and looked at her food. A plate with just vegetables and beans.

’I knew it,’ he thought before directing his eyes towards hers.

"Thank you for healing me this morning," he said as he took a piece of meat and bit.

"I just did what I could. Helping others in need is the reason why I have this power," she replied.

Kizeler couldn’t find the proper words to reply, so he smiled instead. The two of them ate in silence and finished after a few minutes.

"Ahmmn, are you traveling right now?" Kizeler initiated a conversation.

Then the woman nodded and answered.

"I don’t know if it can be counted as one," she said, smiling.

"I’m looking for someone—my sister, who is also my best friend—though I don’t know where to find her," she added, shaking her head.

"Maybe I can be a help to you; what does she look like?" Kizeler offered.

And the woman giggled, answering.

"She has the same facial features as me, I think," she said, and Kizeler laughed upon realizing what she meant by her words.

"Another elf, huh?" he uttered.

Then, in a single blink of an eye, the woman appeared sitting beside Kizeler while a dagger was being pointed at his side.

"How did you know about it?" The woman asked, whispering in the man’s ear to not create a commotion.

Kizeler was stunned by the woman’s sudden action, though he was aware she intended no harm to him. He inhaled a deep breath and tried to discern the situation.

’It’s a normal reaction of someone who got busted after doing their best to hide their identity,’ he thought.

"You can retract that thing; I’m not here to reveal who you are," Kizeler said, but the woman gave the dagger a little push, and it began to pierce his clothing, contradicting his request.

"Answer my question: how did you find out?" She repeated.

"Your scent and your viridescent eyes gave your identity away," he answered.

Then he glanced at the woman.

"And your food," he added.

Afterward, he felt the sharp object being pulled out, and like a wind, the woman vanished from his side and appeared sitting again in front of him.

"You’re quite the observer," she voiced out.

"I believe that being observant can prolong your life," he replied, smiling.

But the woman shook her head in disagreement.

"Sometimes, it’s much better to know nothing than to have a vast amount of knowledge," she conveyed.

Then Kizeler gulped as he remembered the things that he learned from Zeno. In just a few days, he learned a lot about demons and a little bit about the man.

Afterward, he nodded and smiled, agreeing with the woman’s statement.

"Anyway, what happened? Your sister, did she get captured by humans?" He asked, changing the topic.

The woman stared at Kizeler, contemplating if it was okay to talk about it with him. Then, after a minute of silence, she started speaking.

"I don’t know, she just disappeared one day. It’s just my hunch that she goes in the Plain of Fantasies. Since the time that we were just children, she was always talking about the cultures of you, humans. So, I went here, hoping that she’s here," she explained. Sadness could be seen in her rounded eyes.

Kizeler knitted his brows as he heard the woman’s reply.

’It will take you an eternity without any clue or lead regarding your sister’s disappearance,’ he thought, but let it get buried inside his head.

His conscience couldn’t fathom crashing the woman’s hope of finding a family member.

"But the Plain of Fantasies is pretty enormous. It isn’t called the biggest region for nothing. What is your plan right now? Kizeler asked.

Then, upon seeing that, the woman lowered her head. He spoke again.

"I think you should ask the elven family to communicate it with our emperor," he suggested, but the woman shook her head before looking outside the window.

"It’s getting late; I should get going," she said, standing up in a hurry.

Then she looked into Kizeler’s eyes and bowed.

"Thank you for accompanying me and listening to my problem. I wish you a safe journey," she said.

Kizeler stood up and bowed like her.

"No, it’s one of my natures; I hope your sister is safe and you find her as soon as possible," he stated.

Afterward, the two of them parted ways, and Kizeler waited for her to disappear from the streets before he decided to go back into his inn.

. . . . .

At the same time, Zeno woke up from his sleep, but he stayed still, lying on the roof while staring at the stars above the sky.

Hundreds of snowflakes were drifting through the cold wind, yet the demon treated them like they were nothing.

The next second, he turned his head sideways and admired the beauty of the moon.

’First quarter,’ he thought while keeping his eyes focused on it.

Then he yawned and put his hands under his head to use as a pillow. He had no intention to sleep any further, but as the thoughts regarding the underworld returned, circling in his mind, he wanted to close his eyes again.

’I really need to meet that seer,’ he thought, reminding himself.

In fact, this was the first time he experienced a peaceful sleep since they entered the Kingdom of Frost. Most of the time, he just appeared to be sleeping, yet he was awake.

His sleep was half-baked due to the fact that he always kept Eliana’s Legacy active for such a period of time.

Seconds later, he leaped down and walked in a straight line. Then the surface with two skulls on the dice from his ear shone a bright light before a white line circling around him emerged from his body.

Then it began to grow in terms of radius, and upon reaching a certain circumference, Zeno halted his steps.

"It’s moving towards my direction," he uttered.
