Chapter 84: Asking For Help

Chapter 84: Asking For Help

A few hours ago, in the empire’s palace, a small group of knights clad in white armor bearing the crest of Frostbloom Kingdom galloped towards the gate entrance.

But the guards blocked their entry, as they received no word of advice that someone from the Kingdom of Frost would arrive.

Upon seeing this scene, a man also covered with armor, though, the color of his was slightly different from the rest of the group, hopped down from his horse and went towards his companion, talking to the empire’s knights.

Then he pulled out a crest of the royal family of Frostbloom and showed it to the guards.

"I am Flynn Cold Frostbloom, and I am here to seek help from the emperor!" The man said.

However, the guards remained still and answered.

"We already conveyed the message regarding your arrival; please wait for a second for confirmation," one of the knights replied.

The man felt that one of his nerves in the head exploded as he heard the guard’s response to his introduction. He was dismayed at the treatment they gave him upon realizing how they took no rest just to arrive here at the earliest possible time, and even some of their horses died along the way due to exhaustion, yet the knights gave him no face at all.

’I would definitely tell Father about this cold treatment,’ he thought.

However, he already knew that his father was not on good terms with the emperor, and they were always bickering at each other like children, despite their age.

Then, after just a few seconds of waiting, a butler came and whispered towards the guards, and they moved away from the center of the entrance. However, as soon as the prince of Frostbloom passed the gate, the knights obstructed the entrance once more.

"Why are you blocking us again?" One of Frostbloom’s knights complained with a petrified expression.

"The emperor only allowed the prince to enter; you can wait here for him," the guard replied.

Flynn felt upset upon learning of the emperor’s cold treatment, and thoughts about him declining their request circled inside his mind.

’I hope that my hunch is wrong,’ he thought.

Then, the butler led him towards where the emperor was, and as they arrived at the place, he felt shocked upon seeing the old man, who was the ruler of the whole empire, having a meal with the empress and a gorgeous lad.

"Come, sit there and join us," the emperor said while pointing his hand towards the opposite side of the table.

"N-no, your Majesty, I-I am-" he stuttered, thinking on how to decline the old man’s invitation without offending him.

He failed to anticipate this kind of scene, and to be invited for a meal along with the empire’s royal family was a feat worth bragging about for the rest of his life.

"Are you declining me?" The emperor asked, and the moment Flynn heard the change of intonation in his voice, he sat without further ado.

"I would not, your Majesty," he answered.

Then he took a glance at the young woman eating in silence at the emperor’s left side. He couldn’t help but adore her beauty, and the moment she caught him stealing a glimpse of her, Flynn lowered his head.

’The princess’ beauty is hypnotizing,’ he thought.

The next second, the maids came and placed another set of food on the table. Then the emperor spoke.

"Fill your belly first before we proceed with the problem at hand," he said.

"Y-yes," Flynn nodded.

They kept eating in silence until the princess asked a question out of nowhere.

"Father, have you found those men who killed the Undead Summoner?" She said.

Her little voice captured Flynn’s attention, but he just continued eating while eavesdropping.

"Regarding that, we tried searching and looked through all the information and data, but no one matched the captain’s description," the emperor replied before picking up a glass of water.

"Though I’m still waiting for your brother’s report if he has seen one during his stay in the Kingdom of Weapons," he added after emptying the glass.

"Why not have all of the kingdoms prepare a list with their respective citizens and their list of abilities?" The empress chimed in, but the princess rejected her suggestion as soon as she heard it.

"That’s impossible, Empress; there’s no kingdom that will agree to let their talents’ battle prowess be known in the empire," she said while staring at the woman on her opposite side.

Then she glanced towards the other man, who was pretending that he was not listening to any of their conversation.

"Am I correct, prince of the Frostbloom Kingdom? The princess added, smiling as soon as the man lifted his head to look at the woman’s maple-colored eyes.

"Ahmnn, y-yes, you’re not mistaken at all," Flynn replied. Beads of sweat began to form on his forehead, knowing that a dazzling maiden was staring at him.

"See, I—" the princess was about to say something as she reverted her sight to the empress, but Augustus, the emperor, cut her off with a hoarse voice.

"That’s enough, Uoiea," he said before putting the utensils on the side of his plate.

Then he gazed at the prince from Frostbloom Kingdom and caressed his long beard.

"Now, please tell me your reason for visiting my palace," he ordered.

Flynn noticed the lack of deceit in the emperor’s question, so he stated his purpose right away.

"Someone intruded on our castle and killed a lot of our men," he reported.

Then he started to recite the things that happened on that certain day, like how the intruders turned all of their servants present into dolls, and even one of them had the ability to shut down his father with just a glance.

"Telekinesis," The princess uttered, confirming one of the intruder’s abilities.

Upon hearing her, Flynn nodded and continued his story, and as he began to speak about the keys, the emperor knitted his brows.

"Did they tell you the purpose of this key?" He asked, curiosity visible on his face.

Flynn shook his head and answered, "No, your Majesty. They didn’t."

Then he inhaled a deep breath and stood up from his seat.

"I am here to ask for the empire’s help. Please! They just gave us a month’s time to find the key," he begged, lowering his head to show his sincerity.

"And our forces are not enough to fend them off," he added.

However, his hope crumbled upon hearing the emperor’s reply.

"Forgive this response of mine, but my best knights are currently out for missions, and aside from the hero’s party, who were also not here for a task." Augustus paused for a second and shook his head before continuing.

"I’m sorry, I’m a bit hesitant to give a mission to other Diamond-Classes," he said, seeking forgiveness while stating his reasons for declining the request.

Flynn stared at the marble flooring, he never anticipated this kind of progress. He tried to analyze the emperor’s answer, but he was skeptical about why he would decline a request from a place within his jurisdiction.

Contrary to Flynn’s thinking, Augustus really wanted to send help, but knowing that the king was trashed in strength by these people, he couldn’t bear to think that he would send his subjects into their own deaths.

’I know how stubborn that man is, but he’s just behind me in terms of strength, yet he was still helpless against them,’ he disclosed inside his head.

He was deep in his thoughts when the young lad at his side spoke with a cheerful voice.

"Then I’ll help them, Father; send me!" She exclaimed, which caught the people in the room off guard.

The empress dropped her jaw and blinked a few times as she heard the princess’ idea. Even Flynn lost his ability to speak and just stared at the woman.

’Is she serious?’ He thought with a confused look.

The emperor coughed a few times after hearing her daughter. He was about to confront her when he felt a presence strong enough to cause the palace to tremble.

"This energy!" He exclaimed, then stood up from his seat.

Then, the next second, a knight entered the room without bothering to knock on the door.

"Y-Your Ma-majesty! Salamander! Salamander! The king of dragons is up there staring at the palace!" He stuttered while reporting the sudden arrival of another guest.

Zeno and Kizeler reached the next town without any trouble along the way. Kizeler felt his legs would get detached at any moment due to the endless walk they had taken.

"At last, I can rest!" He exclaimed, letting his body collapse on the concrete.

Curious stares from the citizens filled the streets. They were all looking at the man covered in wounds who was lying in the middle of the pavement.

Meanwhile, Zeno slowly dispersed from the crowd, yet Kizeler just let him go; he was too exhausted to follow him now.

He was in the middle of his thoughts when a woman extended a hand to him.

"Are you okay? Do you need help?" She asked.

Kizeler looked at her and examined her face. She was wearing a hooded jacket that covered the entirety of the head.

"Don’t mind me; I’m just tired," Kizeler replied, but the woman was already sitting down, and her hand was placed on Kizeler’s leg.

Then a greenish light enveloped Kizeler’s body, and his wounds began to heal at an incredible rate.

"This is... You’re an-" he said.

He was about to say something, but the woman put her left index finger at her lips, gesturing to him to keep quiet about her personality.

"I’m just a passerby," the woman said.

"Well then, see you," she added upon noticing that the human’s body returned to its normal state.

The next second, she stood up, and Kizeler looked at his wounds, which disappeared like it was not there in the first place.
