Chapter 76: Intruders At Frostbloom Castle

"Dolls?" Arctic asked.

Her sister nodded while staring into her eyes. Then Arctic looked at the small piece of paper in her hand.

"I’m sorry for the sudden notice, but I need to have the key five days from now on. Remember, if you still don’t have it, I’ll be sad, so I will take you instead, and the rest can die." Arctic brows knitted as she read the content of the letter.

She looked at her sister and asked, "What does she want from you?"

"She’s looking for a key that we don’t even know anything about. At first, she gave us a month’s time to bring her the thing, but if we fail to do so," she paused and exhaled a deep breath.

"The Frostbloom Family will be good as dead," she added.

Seconds later, Arctic read the letter one more time while her sister resumed telling the rest of what happened.

. . . . .

The woman walked into the corridor with her dolls clad in armor, while every maid, butler, and even knight that saw her were turned into tiny-looking puppets. She strolled inside the castle while searching for the king’s hall.

"It will take forever to find that old man," she sighed.

Then she turned around and had a little talk with her dolls.

"Mr. Knight, please bring me to the king," she said with the cutest tone she ever had.

The next second, the dolls marched forward and led her. She ended up reaching the hall in less than a minute.

’Oh, it’s just here,’ she thought.

In front of her, there was a huge door standing with a crest that looked like a plain ice cube with a snowflake trapped inside it. She stared at it for several seconds before commanding the dolls to open it for her.

"Please, my little knights," she uttered with a brooding smile on her lips.

The dolls went towards the door and hopped at each other’s heads to reach its handle before they pulled it out. However, different kinds of elemental attacks came from the other side of the door as soon as it was opened.

It created explosion after explosion due to the reactions of different elements, but the woman appeared unscathed as the smoke dispersed in front of her.

"Thank you for saving me with your lives," she mourned upon looking into the destroyed fabric from the dolls that blocked the attacks aimed at her.

Then she directed her gaze on the soldiers inside the large room, and she took a second to glance at the man sitting at the throne with his family standing at his side. The king’s eyes were emitting a chilling energy while his head was resting on his palm.

"Hmnn, despite his cold stares, he is freaking hot," she said, licking her lips.

Afterward, she moved forward, and with just a snap of her fingers, the hundreds of soldiers turned into dolls.

"Oh, to think that I failed to capture everyone’s hearts," she uttered upon noticing that the Frostbloom Family didn’t get affected by her spell.

Aside from them, a single knight in front of the throne also remained standing still. He looked at the woman with his fearsome eyes.

Meanwhile, the youngest daughter of the Frostbloom dropped her jaw as she surveyed the floor with hundreds of dolls, while the rest of the family just shrugged at the scene before their eyes.

The lack of compassion for their people showed how they ruled the Kingdom of Frost with an iron fist.

"Can you handle her, Vice Captain?" The king said, his voice filled with overwhelming authority.

"Well, a minute will do," the knight replied as he unsheathed his sword and made a step forward.

The woman laughed upon hearing him, and she curled her denim-colored hair with her left hand’s finger.

"Little knights, please make him explode for me," she ordered, and the dolls lying on the floor stood up and lunged at the knight.

But as soon as they came within reach of the man, they were cut into pieces without any remorse, and then the knight charged at the intruder.

"What a heartless human! Even demons sometimes hesitate to hurt their comrades, yet you didn’t even blink while cutting them," the woman stated.

She was about to throw the white doll, which resembled a humanoid rabbit due to its long ears and two big front teeth, when something plummeted from the ceiling and landed on the knight, crushing his body to mincemeat.

A huge hole appeared on the roof, and the thick pile of stagnant snowflakes made the already chilling hall colder.

"You’re taking so long, Djaneryse," a voice resounded as soon as a figure emerged behind the mist.

"Why did you follow me here? You’re ruining the fun," the woman uttered while pouting her lips.

However, the newly arrived intruder didn’t manage to conduct a reply as a massive mass of snow appeared from nowhere and turned into an avalanche aiming to descend on him.

The attack came from the king; he stood up from his throne and created it with a single flick of his hand. However, the woman’s companion just looked at the sudden appearance of a snowslide and sighed.

With just a stare, the avalanche stopped in mid-air before it went back to where it came from, but the king raised his fist and dissolved the snow into nothing.

He was shocked upon seeing his attack get stopped in a matter of seconds, and the man right before his eyes even managed to send it back to him.

However, he failed to sense even the slightest hint of any ice-related energy from him, yet he controlled the snow with ease.

’There will only be one reason for that,’ the king thought.

Even the rest of the Frostbloom Family was surprised by what they had witnessed. After all, it was not an everyday occurrence to see their family head’s attack turn into a failure.

"What brings you here?" The king asked.

Then he stepped down from the treads, and a sword of ice materialized on his palm. His large build emitted pressure, targeting the two intruders.

Upon reaching a certain distance, he struck the blade on the floor and let his hand rest on its handle.

"Make sure that your reason is noteworthy for intruding on my dominion!" He exclaimed.

"We’re searching for a key; maybe you have it or you do have it," the woman answered, teasing the king.

"What key are you talking about?" The prince chimed in to the conversation, which made his father glare at him, sending chills all over his body. He soon stepped backward and lowered his head.

Afterward, the king returned his gaze to the two figures in front of him.

"Can you explain what this thing is you’re looking for?" He asked with a nice, splendid tone while his presence in the hall remained the same, yet the intruders showed no signs of struggling under the immense pressure.

"Ahmnn, we don’t really know," the woman uttered before gigling.

"Then I can’t help you with this matter! So leave at once!" The king yelled.

His voice reverberated inside the hall. However, the intruders just looked at him and even smiled.

"Hey, old man. You’re not the one who will give instruction here!" The man exclaimed, and a second later, the king was sent smashing into one of the walls.

"Father!" The princess yelled, showing her concern.

The king fell to the floor with the broken pieces of concrete. The pressure he was emitting disappeared as he coughed a mouthful of blood. Some of his bones broke from that swing alone, making him unable to stand.

’Monster,’ he thought.

Then another scream echoed from the large room, but this time it came from the queen. A little doll resembling a butler slipped from their viewpoint and managed to pull some strands of hair from the woman. Afterward, it ran towards Djaneryse and extended its tiny-looking hand to give the strands.

"How sweet of you, Mr. Butler!" She exclaimed, leaning down to pat the doll’s head.

Then she stood up and looked at the eyes staring at her from beside the throne.

"So, let’s wrap things up! Search the key for us, and we’ll return after a month. I would even turn these guys back to humans. However, if you fail to do so," she paused and smiled with menace.

"You know the consequences," she added while strumming the strands of hair between her fingers.

The rest of the family froze in fear; seeing their king lose in just a second signified how powerful the person in front of them was.

"Oh! Another thing! Princess! I’m decided; you’re so beautiful that it disgusts me. Would you like to be one of my precious collections? I promise to treat you well," Djaneryse said as she focused her gaze on the king’s daughter.

Then she walked closer to her comrade and stood by his side.

"But this is a goodbye for now; we’ll continue this next time once you find the key, so be diligent in finding it." She bid farewell, and the doll she was holding emitted light from its eyes before they faded from the hall.

Along with their disappearance, the army of dolls lining up near the door stopped moving and fell to the floor like dominoes.

Then the moment the intruders left, the queen ran towards her husband and helped him stand up while gritting his teeth due to the pain coming from his broken bones.

Meanwhile, the words that the woman left sent shivers to the fine young lady standing near the throne.

’Turning me into a doll?’ She thought.

And her mind went blank as she realized the horror that lay behind the intruder’s bold statement.
