The Demon King's First General -
Chapter 63: Red Goblins
Chapter 63: Red Goblins
White clouds kept drifting into the sky, and the atmosphere stayed brilliant as the rest of the day went by. A woman whose elegance was beyond the common standard of the world walked alone at the foot of the Mountain Range of Phanstasms.
Her crimson dress, which hugged her curves, created a perfect harmony on her pale white skin. The silky white hair was bunned at the top of her head, while several strands were dangling at the side of her face.
She walked in a very careful manner, doing her utmost to conceal the sound of her footsteps. Her cyan-blue eyes were looking left and right, as if searching for something.
"Not here, either," she said.
Then she stopped for a second and looked back to the place she came from.
"Where is it?" She uttered, annoyance now present on her face.
Afterward, she resumed her walk, and upon reaching almost a hundred meters, a captivating smile brooded on her face.
"That’s the cave!" She exclaimed and ran towards a certain direction.
The cave was not that big, but its entrance was filled with darkness, and creatures who spent their lives lurking inside it gazed at the woman with their blood-thirsty eyes. Despite this fact, Cinn sauntered into the cave, smiling. Soon after, arrows started to fly towards her, and laughter followed. However, with just a wave of her hand, blue flames erupted in front of her, becoming a wall that burned the arrows in an instant. Then the annoying laughter dissipated and turned into cries of panic.
"Blue! Blue! Blue! Flames! Blue!" They chanted in unison.
But a high-pitched voice brought silence as soon as it echoed throughout the cave. Then something walked towards Cinn; its tiny green eyes were perfect for its small build and not-so-good-looking appearance. Its pointed ears had several piercings, while its red skin was covered with strange sets of line tattoos.
Razor-sharp teeth protruded from its mouth as it smiled the moment it closed the distance between the woman.
"What may the Demon King’s descendant want from our goblin horde?" The creature asked, kneeling while holding a staff made from a tree branch.
"Your speaking skills are too fluent for a mere goblin," Cinn conveyed.
And the shaman smiled and lowered his head.
"Communication can sometimes do wonders that even the best magic spells and weapons cannot provide," he replied.
Then Cinn let out a captivating smile upon hearing the creature’s wise answer.
"Someone told me to come here; aside from that, he said nothing." She stated the sole reason behind her being in that place.
The goblin thought for a few seconds and answered with uncertainty.
"Are you referring to that man? That silver-haired demon who emitted a presence like a human?" He said.
"That’s right; I’m here because of him," Cinn replied.
"Now, do tell me why he wanted me to come here?" She added.
Unbeknownst to her, Aichelle made a mistake in passing the demon’s message. She accidentally forgot to tell her the last sentence that would be her clue about the place.
Upon hearing the question, beads of sweat formed on the shaman’s forehead.
"F-follow me," he said as soon as he stood up and went deeper inside the cave.
Cinn walked behind the shaman while the rest of the horde of goblins stared at her. Some were drooling while licking their mouths as they looked at her. Cinn felt disgusted, but she had no choice but to let them stay for awhile. After all, she had no idea why that demon wanted her to come to this place. They walked for several minutes without a single light guiding them until they reached an underground lake, which had viridescent crystals brightening up the coast.
The vampire’s eyes stared in amazement. She was caught off guard by the mystical scenery in front of her. She immediately went near the water and looked at her reflection, painted in the calmness of the lake.
’It’s so clear,’ she thought.
Then the goblin spoke, which made her look behind.
"The demon came here a few weeks ago; he went inside this cave and spent hours on this lake after killing many of our brethren. We thought he was a human," he paused.
"A perfect dish for us, but we’re mistaken! He killed my brother with a smile all over his face. It was a nightmare for us," he recalled the things that happened.
. . . . .
It was a normal day at the foot of the mountains; monsters fighting with each other for territory and food was a common phenomenon, but not inside the cave of the red goblin tribe. They were busy dozing off when the presence of a human captured their attention.
Upon the thought of human meat, they felt excited and dashed towards the entrance of their cave, and their eyes shone brighter as they saw a man drenched in blood while his clothes were tattered beyond recognition. He was standing at the entrance with a stick in his hand.
The ignorant goblins lunged at the man while drooling, but the moment they reached a meter away from the man, they felt their bodies getting cut in half. During their last moments, what they saw was not a human but a demon smiling with menace.
"Red goblins? Perfect! I don’t feel satisfied cutting those undead," the man exclaimed.
With a single piece of stick in his hand, he dashed to the horde of goblins, who were confused by what had happened. They were supposed to hunt the man for food, but the situation didn’t go as they thought. They found themselves running deeper into the cave while the man chased them down one after the other.
As monsters with low intelligence, they felt terrified until their leader came out with the shaman beside him.
The man halted his attack as soon as he saw the hobgoblin and the shaman. Their appearance was not that different from the rest of the horde. The goblins thought that he was intimidated by seeing their leader. However, what happened next made them kneel and beg for their lives.
The man’s smile turned into a grin, and he leaped into the hobgoblin while spinning the stick in his hand. The leader threw out his fist in front of him, expecting the man to be crushed by the force of his punch. However, his arm all the way to his shoulder burst into particles after colliding with the stick that the man used to strike the middle of his fist.
The hobgoblin roared in horror, but his cry was stopped as Zeno tumbled in the air and landed, sitting on the monster’s shoulder. He put the stick in the hobgoblin’s mouth and twisted his head sideways. Then he removed the stick and jumped downward.
He landed on the ground with his back facing the shaman. It was followed by a loud bang, which reverberated inside the cave as the hobgoblin’s large body fell to the ground. The next second, the man turned around, and the smile on his face vanished as he saw the rest of the horde kneeling for their lives.
"I’m not even bringing out my weapon," he sighed, disappointed with the goblin’s action.
Then he strolled deeper inside the cave, but the red goblins stayed in their positions. No one dared follow the man to embrace their own death.
. . . . .
"What happened next?" Cinn asked after the shaman ended his story about the silver-haired demon.
The goblin shrugged his shoulders and shook his head.
"We don’t know; we’re too scared to come near him, much less observe," he replied.
The vampire crossed her arms and stared into the motionless lake. Due to the crystals protruding above, the water gave off an alluring ambience as the pigments of light made its surface gleam with a light creen color.
She sat down and touched the water with her finger in an abrupt manner, which caused tiny ripples that died in just a second.
"It’s warm," Cinn said.
Then she soaked her hand in the lake.
"Warm? How come it’s warm? The water on this underground lake was freezing cold," the goblin retorted upon hearing the woman’s comment.
Then he went closer to the coast and stepped his feet in the water.
"It really is... warm," he uttered before glancing with widened eyes at the woman.
Afterward, Cinn stood up before stepping into the lake. Then she held her breath and went for a dive. As she paddled her feet and swam deeper, the temperature of the water became even hotter, but she ignored it and continued to swim with the aim of reaching the benthic zone of the lake.
And after a minute of kicking and pushing herself through the water, she reached the bottom floor. It was filled with nothing but pebbles and algae.
’Something is reacting to my energy,’ Cinn thought.
Then she glided underneath the water, and not far from her, she saw a black object sticking out between stones. She immediately swam in its direction, but the air in her lungs was about to run out, so she decided to rise back to the surface.
While catching her breath, she organized her thoughts and prepared to dive again. Though, unlike before, she had a path to go now, and as soon as her breathing became stable, she inhaled a deep breath and proceeded underneath the water again.
Without any time to waste, she went in the direction where she saw the black object. Then, as she came closer, she extended her hand and reached for it.
’Got it!’ She exclaimed in her mind.
Afterward, the goblin shaman gulped a few times as he stared at the woman getting out of the water. All of his focus was on the enticing, well-endowed curves at her chest, which were greatly highlighted as the wet dress hugged the vampire’s body.
"Stop staring, or I’ll pluck your eyes out," Cinn threatened the monster.
But the red creature diverted his gaze to the object present in the woman’s right hand.
"It’s that man’s stick!" he exclaimed.
Cinn looked at it and corrected the shaman. "It’s a cane,"
The next second, she spun it between her fingers and pointed it at her right side.
"And sometimes a sword," she said while letting her energy flowed into its shaft.
