The Demon King's First General
Chapter 51: He’s My Prey

Chapter 51: He’s My Prey

After the group leader fell, the rest of the men planned their escape. However, Arctic unleashed chilling energy, and thorns made of ice levitated into the air before piercing each of the bandits’ skulls, rendering them lifeless. They couldn’t even scream for their lives.

"Is that it? No thrill at all?" she murmured while shaking her head.

Then she moved in the direction of the castle gate. From a distance, she saw a sliver-haired man entering the premises.

’Who is he?’ She thought while watching his actions in secret.

Afterward, as soon as the man glanced at her location, she hid beside a damaged wall.

"Did he notice me?" She asked herself.

And she peeked once again at the man, but a large hand appeared from behind her, covering her mouth.

She panicked and released her energy; however, she immediately calmed down as she heard the man’s hoarse voice.

"Calm down; it’s me, young lady," he said before pulling back his hand from the princess’ face.

"You’re Manchester... If I’m not mistaken," Arctic stated.

She knew the two guards that Kreigster brought along, and she recognized the man as she turned around and saw his large build.

"I’m glad you’re safe. Where’s the other one?" She asked, proceeding to look at the knight’s partner.

"He’s injured somewhere out there, I’m looking for someone who can heal him," Manchester replied.

Upon hearing his reply, the princess didn’t bother to ask what had happened to her knights.

’If the empire’s knights were severely injured, our kingdom’s warriors wouldn’t stand a chance to survive,’ she thought.

"How about you, young lady? Why did you come back here? The place is not yet safe," the knight added.

Then he looked at the person at whom the princess had been looking earlier.

"Did you know him?" Arctic ignored his questions and asked upon seeing that the guard stared at the silver-haired man.

"I only heard about him. He’s a dangerous entity as far as I can remember," Manchester explained while not removing the man from his view.

"But what are you doing here? Where are the others?" He repeated, revising his questions.

This time, Arctic let out a small laugh before answering.

"I couldn’t let myself be surrounded by cowards," she chuckled.

Manchester couldn’t help but smile as soon as he heard the woman’s bold declaration.

But he didn’t speak any further as he saw that the silver-haired man had finally entered the castle grounds.

"Let’s follow him!" Arctic ordered, and she didn’t even wait for the knight to answer.

She moved without sound while making sure that the man wouldn’t detect her presence.

’Pure naivety or just overconfidence, either of which will be the young lady’s downfall,’ Manchester thought while shaking his head.

Then he moved and walked behind the princess’ trail.

. . . . .

Zeno kept walking deeper into the castle ground. Dead bodies were still scattered everywhere, but their corpses were different from those at the entrance.

They didn’t have any trace of blood on them; their skin was dry and had a rough texture. Their appearances were so hideous, but Zeno wasn’t bothered at all.

Then he stopped and looked at the sun. A dark red object flashed in his eyes before countless droplets of blood rained down on the area.

Zeno didn’t let himself be drenched in the red liquid; he tossed the black dice above, and it changed into one of its forms. The jet-black shield hung up in the air, protecting the silver-haired demon from getting wet.

The rain melted the surroundings, and the corpses dissipated; even the concrete pavement became corroded.

"Don’t waste your blood on some useless attacks like that," Zeno uttered as soon as the shield reverted back to its neutral form. His voice was pretty discreet, but the culprit behind the attack heard him loud and clear.

Then an odd laugh reverberated into the sky. It came from a red-colored demon floating beneath the clouds, it was the Herish Kingdom’s second prince.

"Wasting? I have plenty," Lex said before he made another red ball, and after a few seconds, it continued to expand before it burst into thousands of droplets of blood.

Upon seeing the second attack, Zeno shook his head. Then the red dice dangling on his ear glowed a white hue, and he grinned a wide and monstrous one.

The next second, a jet-black gauntlet covered his right hand all the way to his elbow. Then he entered into a punching stance by stepping one step backward and pulling his arm behind him. He waited until the rain of blood was just a few meters away from him, then let go of his punch.

The force of Zeno’s attack obliterated the rain. It produced a shockwave strong enough to make the area tremble. Lex dropped his jaw as he felt the tremendous strength from that one single move.

"Don’t be surprised; what you see is just a portion of my strength," Zeno said.

"If that attack terrifies you, then you should prepare yourself to die," he added, stepping into the air to move where the second prince was levitating.

Meanwhile, Lex heard Zeno’s words, and he didn’t wait for the man to come at him; he charged at him with his sword, pointing to the man’s neck.

"Baseless claims!" Lex yelled.

However, Zeno caught the blade with his right hand and performed a counterattack. He gave Lex a punch in the abdomen; the attack had the same power as the previous one, and it massacred the prince.

The prince’s eyes widened upon seeing that his third attempt to injure Zeno was also a failure before his body turned into shambles. His stomach and chest were gone. He was split into two, and Zeno was not yet done.

He let go of the prince’s sword and struck the prince’s face with the same force, erasing his head in the vicinity. Zeno’s punches attracted several people after they felt the strong energy, which caused the ground to tremble.

"Four seconds, is it?" Zeno uttered.

As he saw that the prince’s missing body parts started to form again.

"I applaud your strength, but there’s nowhere to stop me," Lex stated as he licked his sword’s blade.

"You’re strong, but I’m immortal; I won’t die!" Lex said while laughing.

However, the man in front of him didn’t even get shocked. He wore the expression that he already expected the result of his attacks, and it angered the prince.

Then he dashed to the silver-haired man and made a downward slash, but it was deflected easily.

"A scythe?" Lex uttered as he realized that his opponent’s weapon had changed.

Afterward, Zeno spun the scythe into his hand and attacked; he swung it on Lex’s torso. The prince put his blade on his side to defend, but the scythe vanished, and so did the man.

Then he felt two short blades stabbing him on the head, and the next second, he was cut into several pieces of flesh. The scene was so gory, but the silver-haired demon was still smiling, admiring his art.

Then, after six seconds, the chunks of meat attached to one another, and Lex was brought back to life.

"I told you, your efforts are useless," Lex chuckled.

Zeno didn’t reply to Lex; instead, he dashed at him, but this time, the prince fought on an equal footing with Zeno. At first, he couldn’t react to the man’s attack, but after he came back the second time, he could now easily see Zeno’s movement.

They exchanged blow after blow. Zeno’s unique fighting style of changing weapons after another put Lex at a disadvantage, but his regeneration sufficed the deficiency.

Then Lex saw an opening when he successfully deflected Zeno’s scythe, resulting in its being thrown upward. He didn’t let the opportunity to strike the man pass by.

"I win!" He exclaimed.

However, despite seeing the danger coming, Zeno still smiled, which made the prince knit his brows, but he still continued the attack. Then Zeno spun around and pushed the blade to his side in a gentle manner before grabbing the prince’s head.

’Ingrid,’ he thought.

Then a loud explosion echoed in the sky, and the prince’s lower body fell to the ground along with the sword.

Zeno stared at the body, which was now in a state of reconstruction.

"Ten seconds," he murmured.

Upon seeing that Lex had finished his regeneration, Zeno plunged down to him. His weight alone crushed the newly formed body, and this time, the prince growled in pain.

"Shut up," Zeno said, then he touched the prince’s head, making it explode once more.

The silver-haired demon stood up and did nothing. He took a glance at the group of people hiding behind the walls. Then he reverted his gaze to Lex upon seeing that he was reborn once again.

’Twenty-four seconds,’ he thought, then he looked at the sword beside the prince.

Its majestic red color was now fading; though it still had a touch of red, its hue was not the same as before.

"Hey! You’re really getting on my nerves!" Lex said.

Then he got up and swept Zeno’s feet with his weapon, but Zeno didn’t evade; the black dice flew into their location and blocked the blade from harming Zeno.

"I’m getting bored; should I finish you off with this?" Zeno asked, smiling with menace.

After that, the dice rotated, and the surface with one dot lit up. However, it spun once more, and five dots glowed before it transformed into a scythe.

"Just kidding, you’re not worthy to be killed by that weapon," he said.

Lex leaped away from Zeno and unleashed a great amount of energy. His sword’s blade turned pearl-white in color with a strange tint of red resembling veins.

"Are you sure about that?" Zeno asked.

Then fear emerged from within the depths of the prince’s heart. He knew for a fact that the next time he was killed, he wouldn’t regenerate anymore. It was to kill or be killed for him at this moment.

’Should I flee?’ He thought, but he shook his head and prepared himself to strike.

However, the surrounding area became vague, and small pebbles started to hover in his direction. His vision turned black, and the last thing that he heard was the silver-haired demon’s voice.

"Hey, he’s my prey!" Zeno exclaimed while staring at the silhouette of a man above.
