The Demon King's First General
Chapter 184: Three Horned Demon

Chapter 184: Three Horned Demon

"It’s an honor to serve the youngest phoenix," Krizler stated, his gaze focused on the ground.

Uoiea looked at him upon hearing his response. Then she walked a little closer to his direction and extended her hand.

"Raise your head," Uoiea ordered, and the man did it as soon as he was told.

Then, he noticed the crest on the princess’ palm. It bore the empire’s insignia, a rising phoenix.

"I’m giving you the authority to command the army when something happens to me," Uoiea stated, her voice calm and collected.

However, Krizler blinked several times as if he couldn’t understand what the princess meant.

"Pardon? W-Why me?" He asked, yearning an answer.

"And besides, the prince is waiting for us at the frontlines," he added.

Uoiea smiled at him, making the man blush for a second.

"You can return it to him afterwards," she answered.

Krizler stared at the empire’s crest, contemplating if accepting it was the rightful thing to do. After all, he knew for a fact that the woman in front of him was not an ordinary princess.

She excelled in fighting and could command flames and lightning like they were extensions of her hands, and yet she still pictured herself in a grave situation.

"May I know first why you are thinking that way?" Krizler summoned all of his courage to ask.

However, what he got was just a haunting smile and a nod. Upon seeing this, he took the crest from her palm.

"Thank you," Uoiea expressed her gratitude and walked away, leaving Krizler with questions brooding inside his thoughts.

. . . . .

The next morning, as soon as the sun ascended into the horizon, painting the sky with hues of amber while its golden rays woke humanity’s army from their slumber, they resumed their march towards the battlefield.

On each of the steps they took, their hearts raced, skipping a beat as if horses were galloping inside. They were nervous, but for the sake of that so-called peace, they must continue.

It was a calm and quiet journey; only the sounds of their footsteps crushing dirt and pebbles on the way could be heard. However, after a few moments of silence, a strong gust of wind came towards them, followed by shrieking howls of demons charging.

"Draw your weapons! Prepare for battle!" Uoiea yelled.

Her command acted as a catalyst, and everyone raised their weapons. The knights entered into formations while mercenaries with their respective groups fought with their own style and knowledge.

The warriors put their shields in front, protecting the mages and archers behind. A variety of spells, from scorching flames and torrents of water to even whirlwinds, enveloped the battlefield.

Ghouls, along with orcs, sprinted midway with the thought of breaching the army’s formation. However, a curtain of purple flames burst above ground, burning every demon that sprinted towards it.

But it lasted for only a moment; the wall of flames vanished when something descended from the sky, sending a massive shockwave that extinguished Uoiea’s defense.

As the dirt that rose on the ground faded, a demon with three curled horns protruding on the right side of his head stepped forward. On his right hand was a sword with a golden flying phoenix carved on its black blade; its hilt had a touch of violet, and there was a small sharp tip on its end.

Uoiea stared at the newly arrived individual, her eyes squinting upon recognizing who he was.

"Liehj, the Scale Sorceress’ loyal dog," she uttered.

With a ball of flame on both of her hands, she charged towards the demon. Sparks of red lightning enveloped her body, enhancing her speed.

"Princess! Don’t stray from the formation!" A knight yelled, but Uoiea ignored his call.

She went straight towards the three-horned demon, while the ghouls and orcs that blocked her path were turned into cinders. Upon closing the distance, she shoved the ball of fire in Liehj’s face.

The demon used the large blade to block her attack, but Uoiea didn’t falter; she spun around, and with flames at the tip of her foot, she kicked Liehj’s side.

However, her eyebrows knitted upon noticing that the demon didn’t show any pain. Despite his body, scorched from Uoiea’s attack, he remained emotionless.

Uoiea leaped backward and distanced herself from her opponent while trying to assess his strength.

"Are you done?" Liehj asked, staring at the confused princess.

Then he struck his sword on the ground. Afterward, he extended his hand in front and gestured for the woman to come.

"I’ll give you another chance; attack with your strongest," he added, taunting.

Uoiea stared at the demon, and flames started to wrap her body while sparks of crimson electricity flickered around her.

"I’ll make sure to kill you here and return that sword to its rightful owner," she stated before disappearing in her position.

Like a bolt of lightning that jolted forward, She thrust her blazing hand into the demon’s chest. It happened in a flash that even Uoiea felt surprised that the demon didn’t dodge her attack.

Thus she retracted her hand and looked upward, but she felt fear when her eyes met the demon’s gaze. She thought that the punctured hole on his chest was already fatal, but it was not.

"Is that it?" Liehj asked, his voice sharp and cold.

He grabbed and pulled out his sword before raising it above Uoiea’s head, but the princess was still in a daze, lost in her thoughts.

"Farewell!" The demon exclaimed and slashed the blade downward.

However, seconds before Uoiea’s body split into two, she regained her composure and stepped sideways to evade.

Then, with a huge bang, she slammed her flaming fist at the demon’s face.

"Eat that! You filth!" She exclaimed before creating some distance.

Afterward, a crimson lightning streaked downward, piercing Liehj’s body, but Uoiea didn’t stop; she bombarded the demon with fireblasts.

. . . . .

Several explosions reverberated in the area; the purple-colored flames boosted the human’s morale. Despite the demons’ overwhelming numbers, the army didn’t lose their hope.

"For humanity!" The knights yelled in unison.

They killed every demon that approached their flanks, giving not a single chance for the opponent to destroy their formations.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the battlefield, a black-haired man with both of his eyes glowing in a purple hexagram pattern sauntered like a walking catastrophe; every demon who approached him fell, convulsing on the ground.

Blood splattered, and cracks appeared on their skins as their bones broke, protruding from their muscles and flesh without them knowing the reason. Even those giant orcs collapsed on their knees as Krizler looked them in their eyes.

Afterward, as if the demons discovered how his Legacy worked, they evaded him and shifted their focus to the other humans instead.

Upon noticing the changes in their attack patterns, Krizler sighed in disappointment.

"If you won’t come at me, then I’m going to hunt you one after the other," he stated; determination was present in his eyes.

Then, he reached for the blade strapped on his back. As soon as he unsheathed it, he dashed into the army of demons. Limbs fell down and blood splashed on his clothes, dyeing them red; in every swing he made, a monster was cut in half.

. . . . .

Uoiea paused to catch her breath; the area where Liehj stood was turned into a giant crater. The thick smoke from the explosions prevented the princess from seeing the demon’s state.

But as the curtain of dust receded, she squinted her eyes and clicked her tongue in annoyance.

"What kind of demon are you? Are you immortal or what?" Uoiea complained upon seeing Liehj unscathed from her attacks.

Not even a burn mark was present; even the hole on his chest disappeared as well.

"Well, my Legacy is something close to that," Liehj replied, and for the very first time, he charged towards the princess.

While sprinting, he swung his blade several times, sending powerful slashes of energy in Uoiea’s direction.

The princess parried the first one with her hand with ease while dodging the rest as she moved towards the demon.

Liehj made a sideward slash the moment he noticed Uoiea getting closer. As a response, Uoiea bent her knees to dodge and slid inside.

On her hand was a spinning ball of fire with lightning sparks. She pushed it on her opponent’s chest, and the strength of the impact blew Liehj away before it created a massive explosion enough to make the battlefield tremble.

Other demons that were caught in the princess’ attack met their ends as the entirety of them were pulverized into ashes. However, Uoiea found herself shaking her head while her eyes stared at the creature that emerged from the crater, still unscathed from the explosion.

"Seriously? How to kill that thing?" She voiced out, annoyance laced in her tone.

Then, without conserving her strength any further, she unleashed her Legacy.

. . . . .

Meanwhile, back underneath the Embercrown Palace, Sol, the red lion, woke up from its slumber as it noticed someone’s presence. It looked at the small passage, and its blazing tail swayed for a moment.

"So, she really takes you as her own," said a silver-haired demon the moment he approached the burning creature.
