The Demon King's First General
Chapter 131: Too Lazy For That

Chapter 131: Too Lazy For That

The graphic brilliance from the crescent moon and the millions of stars scattered across the vast atmosphere were enough to lighten up the night sky. The wind blew up, and it brought coldness, which woke Kizeler from his sleep.

As soon as he opened his eyes, he noticed Zeno still sitting on a tree branch with his gaze so distant.

"Are you not going to sleep?" He asked while yawning.

But as usual, only the sounds of insects answered him, so he chose to go back to his nap. They were still inside the forest, and his body was tired from the constant walking.

He looked one more time at the demon, curious about where he was looking, but aside from the dark night sky, he saw nothing particular, so he closed his eyes and laid down once more.

On the other hand, Zeno was staring at the direction of the empire. The solemnity of his expression was beyond normal, and this could be seen in both of his eyes.

"So it really is bound to happen?" Zeno uttered as he looked at the myriad of energies fluctuating towards the empire.

Afterward, he glanced at the silhoutte watching him from behind and smiled.

’Then let it be; worrying about something yet to happen is out of my character after all,’ he thought.

With that in mind, his eyelids began to fall down; however, a sudden scream prevented them from doing so. Even Kizeler opened his eyes and grabbed his sword the moment he heard the deafening cry. Zeno leaped down from the tree branch, and the red dice on his left ear spun before the surface with three white skulls glowed.

"Eliana," he whispered.

With him as the center, a white line encircling around him appeared before it became larger, enough to cover the entirety of the forest.

"Stay right here, but if you’re so eager to die, then follow me," Zeno ordered.

Upon hearing the command, Kizeler couldn’t help but look at the demon with frowning eyes.

"What?" He replied, dumbfounded.

However, Zeno just grinned and dashed to where the scream came from, leaving his companion behind.

"Hey, wai-" Kizeler tried to shout, but the demon was too fast. He disappeared right in an instant from the former’s sight.

"For that lazy bastard to move on his own, now I’m curious what caused that scream," he wondered, gripping his sword tighter.

. . . . .

Zeno’s agile movements were on display as he leaped from one branch to another in the middle of the night. Time continued to pass, and the moment he arrived at the place where the noise originated, he saw two women sitting on the ground while hugging each other.

They were crying and terrified as a giant monster was standing several meters away from them. Standing on both of its hind legs, with a shell made of red diamonds on its back, it glared into the humans with its bloodshot eyes.

’It can’t be... It really is a Gamera,’ Zeno thought upon seeing the creature with a turtle-like head.

The next second, the monster started to advance, and the ground quaked as its heavy foot slammed forward. The two women froze in their positions. They wanted to run, but they felt like their strength left them the moment they encountered the creature.

"Z-Zia, what the hell is that thing?" The woman with a sword at her back asked.

But her companion, whom she just called Zia, shook her head.

"I-I don’t know, w-we should run," she stummered.

Then she summoned her strength to stand; however, her legs wouldn’t stop shaking.

’Someone, please! Help us!’ She thought as she closed her eyes, she didn’t want to see their demise.

With a loud roar, the monster ran in their direction; its mouth, filled with countless razor-sharp teeth, was wide open, wanting to devour the humans ahead.

However, a jet-black shield, large enough to be called a wall, appeared out of nowhere in front of the monster. It had a white dot on each of its four corners, while a dice was embedded in its center.

A loud bang echoed inside the forest after the creature headbutted the shield. It almost fell due to the impact, but its huge tail acted as a support, preventing it from falling.

Afterward, the dice on the surface of the shield spun before it vanished into thin air, and then Zeno descended from above with his right fist, covered with a jet-black gauntlet, aiming at the monster’s head.

’Jack,’ he thought.

With the goal of pulverizing the gamera’s head, Zeno didn’t hold back his punch. However, his attack was intercepted by several crystal-like shields that appeared above the monster’s head.

These thick layers of diamonds were crashed, but they were enough to greatly reduce the damage and momentum of the punch.

’It won’t hurt at all,’ Zeno thought.

Clicking his tongue in mid-air, he still landed his fist at the monster’s head, but like he expected, it didn’t even make the creature budge.

Afterward, he kicked his way out and maintained a few meters away from the Gamera.

"Three would not be enough to put this thing down, and I already called out two," he uttered before glancing at the two names written on his right wrist.

While thinking about his next move, the monster let out a thunderous roar, signifying its counterattack. Shards of diamonds began to materialize around its giant body. Then, with a stomp of its foot, the projectiles were sent flying in the demon’s direction.

Zeno ran to dodge; the gauntlets on his arms vanished, and a scythe materialized on his hand. Those that he couldn’t evade were deflected by his weapon’s blade.

Then he accelerated once more when the scythe changed into twin daggers, and within a few seconds, he closed the gap between himself and the monster while making small cuts on its enormous body.

’Gameras were extinct a long time ago, yet this thing emits a presence very identical to theirs,’ Zeno thought as he struck both daggers into the monster’s chest.

’And the last one I saw was...’ he added in his line of thoughts, and an image of a silver-haired woman with her back facing him appeared in his mind.

Then he pulled the daggers as he gave a fearsome kick, enough to make the monster step backwards.

"This will be endless, but that makes it more interesting however..." Zeno uttered with an arc on the corner of his lips after landing on the ground.

The next second, he spun the daggers around his fingers, then they vanished, and a black cube with several white dots on its surface appeared, spinning at the top of his right palm.

"I’m too lazy for that," he said while still smiling.

Then the dice spun once more, and the surface with a single white dot glowed with an intense brightness.

. . . . .

Kizeler followed the noise and the vibrations from the air; aside from the few shakings of the ground, the night was in extreme silence.

After spending several days with Zeno, he could now determine and sense his unique presence. Aside from the silver-haired demon, he also noticed two individuals and an existence emanating bloodlust that he had never encountered before.

’Demons are already hostile creatures, yet this one spelled more danger than them,’ he thought while sprinting forward.

Then, he glanced behind him and felt that the person following them earlier was still doing her best to hide herself in the shadows of the forest.

’Will she show herself this time?’ He conveyed it to himself.

A few minutes had passed, and he arrived at the place where the unknown presence was standing.

"What kind of monster is that?" He asked with astonishment in his eyes.

The red diamond crystals on its back gave the beast a jaw-dropping appearance, and the blood oozing out from the small cuts on its body completed its menacing aspect.

Then he felt something strange underneath him, as if the ground were extracting his energy. Upon looking down, he found thin strands of silk-like stems sticking to the soles of his feet.

"Absorption?" He exclaimed in confusion before leaping up from one of the tree branches.

The next second, a sudden outburst of flashing light that soared up to the sky, caused him to close his eyes for a second. It was followed by a crashing sound, enough to shake the ground as if a large object had fallen from it. Then, the moment Kizeler opened his eyes again, he saw the turtle-like monster lying down on the ground, with Zeno standing behind it.

On the demon’s right hand was a jet-black sword sheathed inside a scabbard with black chains wrapped around it all the way to its rainguard, but it didn’t stop there; the connected flexible series of jet-black metal links coiled up to Zeno’s hand and the entirety of his arm.

On the other end of the chain was a dice with a jet-black dart blade that rested on the side of the demon’s shoulder.

Dumbfounded as he was, Kizeler blinked a few times to assess what happened, but he couldn’t understand how or what the demon did. In a fraction of a second, the creature was killed.

"No other wounds aside from the small cuts," he uttered after examining the monster’s corpse.

Then, with a curious gaze, he looked back at the demon, who was now looking up at the vast night sky.

’If there will be a time that you choose to exterminate the world, do we have what it takes to take you down or even survive your wrath?’ Kizeler wondered as he gulped a few times, terrified by his sudden thoughts.
