The Demon King's First General
Chapter 129: Untamed Crowns

Chapter 129: Untamed Crowns

Several years ago, a man roamed the whole continent of Exgreia, searching for people to help him execute his plans while staying in the dark. He did his best to find the most vicious and cunning ones, then subdued them with his strength and promised greater power once they joined him.

He gathered a total of ten people; most of them wanted revenge and power; others craved recognition; and some just loved to have fun and destroy.

With them, he created an organization whose main goal was to open the gates of the underworld.

And when his subordinates asked him about the purpose of their goal, he only replied with a single statement.

"To return this world to its rightful owners," he said.

. . . . .

Nine figures walked on the black carpet, and heels from the soles produced several clacking sounds. Afterward, the group of men and women formed a horizontal line in front of the empty throne.

A woman holding a maroon-colored umbrella let her eyes roam inside the hall as if searching for someone, then her brows furrowed, disappointed.

"Where is He, Strannard?" She asked as her gaze landed on the man wearing a black onyx crown on the left side of the black carpet.

The men and women divided themselves with the thick, woven fabric in the middle.

However, the man kept his silence and just flushed a wide grin on his face.

"You really should work on that temper of yours, our lovely Enchantress," another man dressed in a mage robe said.

His eyes were silver, and his long black hair lay down straight on his back.

"I haven’t asked for your opinion, have I?" Celestine answered, rolling her eyes.

"That’s my Celestine!" A woman with denim-colored hair chimed in and hugged the woman at her side. One of her eyes was hidden by her hair.

At the same time, a woman with the same hair color and posture as the one who held the enchantress glanced at her side and rolled her eyes.

"Disgusting," she uttered, and her embrace of the vicious doll in her arms tightened.

"Should I kill you right now?" The other woman let go of Celestine and faced the person on her other side.

Aside from their dresses that contradicted each other’s clothing, both of them had similar facial features; from their eyebrows down to their chins, they were exactly the same.

"I’m injured, but I’m not a cripple, so let me see you try," the woman answered, and she was about to flick her hand when a short chuckle echoed inside the place.

The laughter came from an old man who was stroking his white beard.

"Djaneryse! Djaleryse! Both of you, enough with the bickering. He is coming," Professor Sid stated, and the large door behind them opened once again.

The hall was filled with powerful energy, enough to make the nine people kneel down. No one from any of them dared to look back; their eyes were focused on the floor.

Strannard and the mage with silver eyes were smiling, while the professor and the two other men wore the same serious expression.

The sound of footsteps continued until the man who entered reached the throne. The next second, he sat down and looked at the figures kneeling before him.

"Djaneryse," he called out.

"Yes! High Venerable," the woman holding a doll stood up and answered with courtesy, though her gaze remained on the floor.

"Where is Rain?" The man on the throne asked.

Djaneryse gulped as soon as she heard the question; she didn’t know what happened to Rain after all. She previously thought that her partner fled and left her behind, but it looked like that was not the case.

"R-Rain was..." Djaneryse stuttered, afraid of having no concrete answer.

"He was killed," the man declared.

His words caught all the people present in the room by surprise, but they lasted for only a second as Strannard’s laughter followed afterwards.

"Then he is not worthy to be at High Venerable’s side," Strannard stated.

"Indeed, that man is a disappointment to this organization," the mage added without lifting his head.

Djaneryse bit her lips upon hearing the harsh comments; she had no choice but to endure all the painful words they would throw at Rain for the meantime. Defending him at this point would lead to her very own demise.

"Who’s the perpetrator?" Celestine chimed in; she even stood up and used her umbrella as a cane.

The man averted his gaze from Djaneryse to Celestine. Then his black eyes turned crimson black, and a smile appeared on his lips while partially opening his mouth, revealing two sharp-pointed fangs.

"Do you have someone in mind, my adorable Enchantress?" He asked.

"The Demon King’s General, the man that Strannard has talked about... Let’s admit the fact that all of us here are on different leagues, and Rain is not an exception, but that man..." Celestine paused, her hand clenched into a fist before she continued speaking. "Is like a box filled with surprises," she added.

"Plausible, but how can you prove that it was him?" It was Djaneryse who answered with another question.

"Just because he beat you doesn’t mean that he’s that strong to defeat us as well," she added.

"Pathetic!" Celestine exclaimed with a smirk.

Then she looked at Djaneryse through the edge of her eyes and held a few strands of her hair.

"Though I agree with that, I do believe that the empire’s princess could not touch even a single hair of mine," she rebutted, making fun of the puppeteer.

This caused Djaneryse to explode in anger as she gritted her teeth, and several dolls in ethereal form appeared at her side.

"You! Ugly-looking bitch!" She yelled, and the dolls began to open their mouths to shoot projectiles towards the Enchantress.

However, a shout made her stop doing so.

"You’re within High Venerable’s presence! Stop this at once!" Professor Sid couldn’t endure the quarrel and chose to mediate.

Upon hearing this, Djaneryse cancelled out her dolls and kneeled once again.

"Forgive my rudeness, High Venerable," she said with a calm expression.

The man sitting on the throne nodded, then searched for Strannard.

"What are your thoughts about Celestine’s assumption?" He asked.

Strannard stood up the moment he noticed the pair of crimson-black eyes looking at him.

"High Venerable, as the one who truly knew the Manipulator of Souls, I couldn’t say that it was him, though the chances are not zero." He went straight to the point.

"And your reason? Based on what I’ve heard from you before, General Arthur had no reason to clash against Rain unless he provoked him in the first place," the man said.

"You’re forgetting a very important knowledge, High Venerable. Rain’s Legacy has been a mystery up until now, and the Manipulator of Souls loves collecting unique Legacies," Strannard answered with confidence in his words.

"Hmnn, if that is the case, avoid fighting him in the meantime, especially you, Celestine," the man ordered as he directed his gaze towards the Enchantress of Time.

Celestine sighed upon hearing her name being called out, but she had no choice but to nod in submission.

The next second, he pulled something from his pocket and tossed it in Professor Sid’s direction. The old man caught it with both of his hands.

’A necklace?’ He thought.

"That’s the seventh; only one key is missing," the man on the throne stated.

"But let’s forget about it for now; you guys will have a job to do," he added, and a wide smile curled on his lips.

The nine people all lifted their heads as they understood their leader’s intention. They were surprised and felt excited at the same time, especially Strannard.

"We will now make our appearance on the surface of this world!" The man exclaimed.

Then he stood up from his seat and raised both of his hands.

"On the next full moon, the Untamed Crowns will attack and destroy the heart of humanity’s empire!" He added with a sinister laughter while clenching his fist up in the air.

"Finally! How long has it been since the last time I went out of control? You should be excited as well, Blackwell," the man with a single horn on his forehead laughed as he tapped the man’s back beside him.

The fangs and the mane around his neck indicated what he was—a beastman.

"Hey, stop it, meathead, or I’ll eat you for dinner tonight," the man with spiky long hair said, but the beastman didn’t stop as if he didn’t hear a thing.

On the other side, Celestine let out a smile while Djaleryse embraced her at the waist and patted her head like a child.

Djaneryse was annoyed to see her twin sister’s actions towards the woman she hated the most. She shook her head in disappointment and glanced at the other woman beside her.

But she couldn’t see her expression under the hood, and it looked like she didn’t care about the others, so she just directed her eyes and stared at the man standing in front of the throne.

’An existence stronger than the fallen Demon King... I wonder what he is thinking right now, attacking the empire,’ she thought, and a playful smile appeared on her lips.
