The Demon King's First General
Chapter 119: One Against Four

Chapter 119: One Against Four

Under the moonless night sky, one and a half years ago, the wind whistled, enough to make the dried leaves fly through the air.

Two individuals were present in an open field. One of them was looking up while letting a maroon-colored umbrella rest on her shoulder when she spoke.

"Even without my domain, you’re still nothing," she said.

Then her eyes looked down at the woman kneeling a few meters away from her position. The woman’s denim-colored hair was disheveled, and her frail body was drenched in blood.

"Your presence alone disgusts me!" The woman with the umbrella exclaimed before turning around to walk away, leaving the other person contemplating her life.

’How... How do you defeat such a monster?’ She repeated inside her thoughts until her body began to fall as her consciousness was taken away by the gentle breeze of the wind.

. . . . .

Right after the doll monster’s pair of eyes disappeared, Djaneryse opened hers, and they were back to normal. Then she smiled as she looked around.

The next second, the doll she was hugging crawled onto her shoulder and wiped the blood from her cheeks.

"Oh, how sweet of you, Mr. Fluffy!" Djaneryse exclaimed.

Meanwhile, the members of Nyx Triangle, especially Londaire himself, were surprised upon witnessing that his very own legacy, which he was so proud of, failed to finish its task.

"That can’t be," he whispered, confused.

As far as he knew, there was no way to counter his Legacy unless his target had the power of fire. Extreme coldness was supposed to transfer into his opponent, freezing their muscles and bloodstreams before taking their lives.

However, what happened now was quite the opposite of his expectations; the woman in front of him suffered no damage from his attack, and his Legacy was now falling out of her body one after the other.

"Princess Arctic! Take Princess Polar away!" Londaire yelled as his mentality recovered from shock.

Arctic looked at the mercenary first and glanced at the denim-haired woman the next second before grabbing her sister’s arm.

"Arctic..." Polar whispered as her sister ran without saying a word while pulling her behind.

"And who the hell gave you permission to leave?" Djaneryse questioned, and like a bolt of lightning, the doll monster zipped on its way to block the princess’ path.

"Shit!" Londaire cussed as he failed to react; however, upon feeling the chilling energy coming out of the castle main door, he chose to ignore the doll monster and focus his attention on the woman in front of him.

"The two of you! Treat this fight as if we’re hunting a Pandemic-level monster!" He yelled once more.

"Lumiel, all out buff! Sena, help me pin her down!" He commanded.

Afterward, without wasting a second, he sprinted towards Djaneryse, aiming his sword while several icicles were swirling around him.

On the other side, like they were ordered, Lumiel extended her hand, and several layers of energies enveloped their leader while Sena rotated her staff. After chanting a few words, chains made of ice protruded beneath Djaneryse as soon as a magic circle appeared under her feet. The freezing chains wrapped around her legs all the way to her thighs, which prevented her from moving even a single step.

However, despite this scene, Djaneryse maintained her smile and just looked at the sharp blade and shards coming at her. Seconds later, the doll hopped down from her arms, and as soon as it opened its mouth, the icicles were sucked inside it, and then its body began to grow in size.

Muscles appeared from its tiny limbs, creating a huge, bulky appearance. Then, with strength enough to rival the Nyx Triangle’s leader, it blocked the sword with its hand before throwing a punch enhanced with ice energy, aiming for the mercenary’s abdomen.

Londaire blocked the incoming fist with his free hand, but he was still sent a few distance away.

’That would be dangerous if I got caught directly by that attack,’ Londaire thought after feeling his hand being deprived by the power of sensation.

"Don’t hurt him too much, Mr. Fluffy; he will be a wonderful addition to my collection," Djenaryse reminded the doll soldier.

As a response, the doll looked back at her and pulled the chains binding her legs. The creature didn’t stop until cracks appeared, making them shatter into pieces. Afterward, the doll extended both of its hands and grabbed the woman at her waist.

"Oh my, how thoughtful of you, Mr. Fluffy?" Djaneryse stated, smiling.

The next second, the doll placed her on its right shoulder before turning around to face its master’s opponent.

"Now-" Djaneryse was about to speak her thoughts but failed to do so when a giant palm made of snow came at them from behind.

The attack created a strong gust of wind, enough to make the accumulated snow on the ground return to where it came from, however, it hit nothing. Mr. Fluffy leaped up the moment the puppeteer sensed a strong bloodlust coming straight at them.

"My dear king! You’re here! Finally!" Djaneryse exclaimed. The look in her eyes was enough to showcase her excitement.

"Perhaps you are worried about your daughters?" She added, teasing the leader of Frostbloom Kingdom.

However, she received no reply, and Londaire appeared right beside her with his sword embedded with ice-cold energy, followed by a fireball fused with lightning coming below.

Mr. Fluffy raised his arm and parried the mercenary’s blade with ease, then grabbed the fireball and shoved it in its mouth. The next second, it pulled its right foot backward to send a heavy kick, aiming for Londaire’s torso.

Upon seeing this, the man reacted quite fast as he placed his sword in front to block the attack, but the moment Djaneryse clapped her hands once, the doll’s legs grew several times bigger, which caused the kick to double in strength.

Even with a defensive buff, Londaire was hurled away, smashing into a wall and destroying it in several pieces. However, the broken debris scattered in the air as a torrent of energy sent them flying in all directions, revealing the Diamond-class mercenary standing in there like nothing had happened.

Then he looked above and saw a fireball moving in his direction. He cut it in half, making it explode, before he glared at the puppeteer above.

"Oopps, I’m sorry! Mr. Fluffy didn’t mean it, I swear!" Djaneryse apologized with a smile.

The next moment, she glanced behind, and another sword came into her view, seconds before separating her head from her body.

However, it failed to happen; the doll shrank in size, causing the king to miss his slash. His brows knitted after realizing what happened. The next thing he knew, his body was slammed to the ground, creating a giant crater large enough to shake the whole premises. The king screamed deep inside of him as some ounce of blood escaped his mouth.

In that little span of time, Mr. Fluffy managed to grab one of the king’s feet and throw him below. Afterward, the doll plunged downward to give the king another heavy blow, but a magic circle appeared underneath the king’s body, and he was teleported beside Sena.

"Your Majesty! Let us handle her; escape with your daughters!" Lumiel stated as she placed her hands on the king’s chest.

Green light soon enveloped him, and his wounds started to heal in an unbelievable speed. Afterward, he turned his head sideward and saw his first daughter along with an unknown man battling the doll monster, which had numerous heads and arms.

’Who is he?’ He thought after catching a glimpse of the man’s purple eye.

Then, as soon as Lumiel finished treating his injuries, he stood up and nodded at the mercenaries before rushing to provide support for his daughter, leaving the trio to handle that crazy puppeteer.

. . . . .

A while ago, behind the pillar where Kizeler was hiding, he saw one of the invaders leave. Then he felt relieved upon seeing how the puppeteer suffered grave wounds that he thought would be the conclusion of the battle.

However, like a broken nightmare, the woman regained her strength, and the princesses were put in a tight spot as the doll chased them after they tried to flee from the situation.

’Should I help now?’ Kizeler asked himself as he watched Arctic endure the constant slashes of the doll. Though, on a scale of ten attacks, she managed to block and evade more than three quarters, she still got cuts from the rest.

Kizeler glanced at the other side, and the three mercenaries were busy containing the puppeteer. Equipped with determination to help, Kizeler inhaled a deep breath and jumped into action. He ran in Arctic’s direction and gave her ample time to breathe.

’Damn it! Where are you, demon?’ He asked at the back of his mind after parrying a slash from the doll monster.

"I thought you would just watch me die first before helping," Arctic commented.

Even though her state was not that good, she still managed to tease Kizeler.

"So, do you have any plans in mind to silence that thing?" She asked.

"Aside from staying alive, I don’t have any!" Kizeler exclaimed after leaping several steps backward to evade.

"Dumbass," Arctic uttered in disbelief.

The next second, Kizeler blinked, and his left eye’s pupil turned purple with an unusual white hexagram pattern. He stared at the eyes looking at him, but he knitted his brows after seeing his Legacy having no effect at all.

’No, not this time again,’ he thought.
