Chapter 38: 38- What Awaited Us

Hunter:

Sebastian had gotten extremely quiet ever since Amora told him that there was a meager chance that Aurora might be alive.

Luna Tamia had detected that something was going on in his head, but Tina was still clueless. She was happy in her Lala land, where she showed off to everyone that the king was her fiancé and soon, they would get married.

He had kept himself busy with all the meetings and the rogue attacks happening near the border of Velmora Kingdom, and Sebastian wanted to form an army by combining all the best warriors of the packs present in the kingdom.

"Right now, he was busy in the meeting, going on in the office of the pack Alpha, when Tina came inside without even knocking on the door.

"Sebs. I’ve heard we’re leaving tonight?" she confirmed with him, behaving as if no one else was sitting there. The meeting had stopped midway because her highness wanted to talk to Sebi about something non-significant.

She was beautiful, had a great figure, but there was just one problem. She didn’t even have a pea-sized brain to understand that she could not disturb such high-end meetings.

"Are we really leaving tonight?" she repeated while batting her lashes with fake innocence, and for the first time in my life, I wanted to slap her.

Sebastian didn’t flinch. I mentally saluted his stamina to endure her.

"Hmm," he leaned forward to have a better look at the file that was opened on the desk before him.

"I’m telling you, Sebs. We aren’t coming back from the Blood Stone pack so soon. I need to spend some time with Raya," She left the room after stating her orders, and Sebastian was so engrossed in the file that I was sure everyone must have felt Tina was nothing to him.

"Your highness," the Alpha of our host pack spoke, "I’m sure Crimson Claw pack was burned and wiped out by this rogue pack. They call themselves the wolf Howl pack, but their Alpha, Lucien, enjoys killing people, especially innocent ones."

"According to you, Crimson Claw isn’t there anymore," I told the Alpha with a frown, "But I received the news from a pack investigator that a she-wolf survived the attack and reached the Blood Stone pack, who not only provided her with shelter but also made her a part of them."

"Oh," he stretched his lips to make a thin line of it, "If someone survived it, then Lucien won’t take time to come after her."

Sebastian was listening to our conversation while his mind seemed to be somewhere else.

He seemed to be reading my mind because I got a mind link from him, "After this meeting is over, you stay back."

"If a survivor is living in Blood Stone pack, then we need to talk to her and maybe should bring her to our palace," I suggested to Sebastian, who was still going through that file.

He nodded and at last raised his eyes to look at me, "I agree. That means we might have to extend our stay there."

"Your fiancée will be happy, man. She got so many dresses stitched,"

He pinned me with a steely glare and shook his head, "You’re treading on dangerous water, mate."

"Sorry," I stood up abruptly and walked to the window, "That was out of line, Seb. I apologize again. But you need to take some action. You can’t let a girl hang on this relationship that doesn’t interest you."

I looked out of the window and found Tina talking to the host Luna. She was showing her diamond necklace, and the poor Luna was just nodding her head with a subtle smile.

No matter how good her background was. Her profession couldn’t train her to communicate with others.

I want to see Alpha. There is something important.

A long-gone memory flashed in my mind when that green-eyed, innocent girl wanted to meet Sebastian.

What if that day she had reached him? If I hadn’t followed Luna Tamia’s orders and hadn’t stopped her from seeing Sebastian, who knows, she might be alive today.

There was a stark difference between Tina and Aurora. The dead Luna wasn’t fake.

Maybe she would have taught the King how to laugh.

"If you’re not interested in her, then maybe let Tina go. Free her, Sebastian," Tina was now moving her hands wildly, trying to explain something to Luna.

"I did!"

"Hmm?" I turned around to watch him, "What did you say?"

"I said... I freed her and asked her to walk away and put the blame on me. But she didn’t agree," he placed the pen on the file and pressed his temples with his fingers.

She didn’t agree?

"But why?" The question was out of my mouth before I could stop myself.

"What do you think?" he shut the file and got to his feet, "Why do you think she will keep her ass glued to me?"

Standing beside me, his eyes traveled to his supposed fiancée, who was still chattering, not realizing that Luna was now trying to control her yawns.

"So, what do you think about that fire survivor? Blood Stone pack had their first attack a few days back. I think it was related to the surviving girl. If that’s the case, they will attempt to do it again."

He nodded, moving his eyes away from Tina, "I think if she is safe there, then there isn’t any point to disturb her or the pack. They’ve been protecting her for the past two years, so yes. I guess we should either let her decide or ask Alpha Blake to tighten the security around the borders."

I watched his empty eyes, which were now looking at the sky, "Are you thinking about Aurora?"

Sebastian slowly turned his face, and a half smirk formed on his face, "Don’t worry. I’m not stupid. That girl is dead, and I’ve accepted the reality. Now let’s leave the pack and move to the Blood Stone."

He turned to go back to the desk, but I stayed there.

He had accepted the truth?

Liar!

If he had accepted the truth, then why did he always think of her? What did his eyes used to search for in that window where she once stood and peeked at him?

Why did he want to reopen the case and need Witch Amora’s help?

Your Grandma and fiancée might be fools, but I am your childhood friend, Sebs. I know that you want to end this Royal visit and return to the palace so that you can work with Amora and investigate further.

But man... oh, man.

None of us knew what awaited us in the Blood Stone pack.
