Chapter 521: Chapter 279: Unwavering, No Temptation

The sports car drove onto the bridge, crossing the Gu River.

A lone river divided the A section of the Seventh District into two parts, the noisy commercial district and the tranquil affluent district.

Now, the sports car kept moving forward, leaving the bizarrely prosperous city behind.

"Have you been to the Thirteen District these past two days? What case was it?" Liu Tingruo asked with some curiosity.

Sitting in the passenger seat, Jiang Shu nodded and replied, "Yes, I was dealing with Gary’s case. He’s a police officer who had helped me in the past. He has encountered a lot of misfortunes in the past six months, and now he’s a Rift in the Thirteen District."

"Rift?" Liu Tingruo blinked. She seemed not to have heard the term before, so she turned to look at Xiao Ba and Xiao Wu beside her.

The two orbs immediately projected related information about the Rift onto the screens inside the car.

Liu Tingruo quickly skimmed the information and grasped the gist, so she turned back to Jiang Shu, "So the police department sent you to catch him? But..."

She paused, then her gaze drifted over Jiang Shu and she smirked before continuing, "I’m guessing you weren’t there to catch him."

"Hmm?" Jiang Shu blinked, "Why would you say that?"

"I haven’t seen any news about the Rift being caught. If you had wanted to catch him, he wouldn’t have escaped," Liu Tingruo drove into the villa district, her words oozing with taken-for-granted confidence.

With Jiang Shu’s abilities, whether in terms of thinking or those unimaginable Deception Derivative Entries, he could have easily completed the mission, with no possibility of failure.

Now, the only possibility was that Jiang Shu was slacking off; he never intended to pursue Gary in the first place.

"Is that a recognition of my abilities?" Jiang Shu teased, then admitted, "Indeed, not only that, but I also want to help Gary accomplish what he wants to do."

"Are the foxes there as well?" Liu Tingruo continued to ask.

Jiang Shu nodded, "Not only are they there, but they also haven’t returned. We failed this time due to a small accident."

The Cleaner was actually disguised by that batch of mechanical Disciples from six months ago, directly controlled by the fox, with a simple objective: to draw the attention of the police department and the attention of the chairman, to help Gary with the abduction.

Yet, all this planned by Jiang Shu and the Deception Group had not been discussed with Gary; everything was left unsaid.

"Hmm..." Liu Tingruo was quick to react. She immediately sensed something in Jiang Shu’s words, "So you mean, you’re going back there?"

"Right." Jiang Shu also nodded. He had left the Magic Table in the Thirteen District. If the foxes needed him, he could be teleported there instantly, without any delay in joining the battle.

"Alright then, I’ll go back after you head to the Thirteen District," said Liu Tingruo as she parked the car in the garage of her villa and then stretched out in the car, "Take good care of me during this time."

The design of the sports car’s seats was extremely ergonomic, and the scene of Liu Tingruo stretching in it displayed a perfectly tempting S-curve.

"Of course." Jiang Shu smiled, "I will definitely keep Sister Ruo satisfied, in a delightful way, both body and mind."

The vehicle entered the underground garage on the negative first floor, and the sensor light in the garage automatically turned on. Then a door in the corner of the garage opened, revealing an upward passage leading directly to the villa.

"Let’s go." Liu Tingruo got out of the car, her slim figure barely concealed by the brown trench coat. She walked up the stairs briskly, looking decisive and efficient.

They ascended the staircase, opened a door, and Jiang Shu and Liu Tingruo stepped into the upstairs villa.

It was completely different from what they had expected; the whole first floor was pitch-black, without any sign of human activity.

Jiang Shu turned on the light. Everything was arranged exactly as it was when he left, which meant that no one had been to the first floor during this time.

He thought about it and had to marvel at his home-bound creatures.

After Lang Tai left with him, Phil, the Rat King, seemed to have stayed in the basement, and the Fish Lady always stayed in her room upstairs. Neither of them had shown any inclination to leave their nests.

"It looks like there’s no difference from when we lived here." Liu Tingruo looked around, "I thought it would get livelier with more people."

"You want lively? Then I can go release Clo," Jiang Shu glanced at her but didn’t move.

"Forget it, it’s too late, and he’s headache-inducing with all the noise," Liu Tingruo’s face immediately showed her refusal.

Clo, with his chattering little mouth that didn’t stop, was actually better off as a Paperman. At least his voice didn’t rely on his throat, so he could talk all the time without worrying about throat issues.

"Alright, you go upstairs and take a shower. I’ll check on their condition. It’s late, and you must be tired from coming all the way from the Fifth District," Jiang Shu then headed toward the basement, where Tang’s family and Phil the Rat King resided.

"Hmm, am I going to my room or your room?" Liu Tingruo fixed her gaze on Jiang Shu, her eyes brimming with mirth.

"Of course, to your room." Jiang Shu didn’t hesitate, "You have a bigger bed."

"Okay, I’m going up. Youshould take care of things quickly." Liu Tingruo then ascended the indoor spiral staircase to her room.
